Description While looking at the Dali’s piece of art which is a pictorial reproduction in my guest room, the viewer can easily mention the influence of the surrealism movement. The picture looks like it has been taken out of one’s dream. The horizon line crosses the picture at the two-third level, hence attracting the one’s view to the foreground rather than the background. The figure of the melting watches represents the phenomenon of a dream that captivated the minds of surrealists. According to the fact of visual distortions, the shapes of the objects are changed consequently. Nonetheless, being motionless in its own artistic nature, the picture is opposite to the nature of time that always runs. While the most significant amount of details are centered in the left part of the picture and the foreground, the background lacks elements. The main image which has been depicted in the background space is the sea along with the rock cliff. Probably, the sea symbolizes the time, spaceless and without boundaries. At the same time, the body in the center of the picture appears to be a focal point for the viewer, hence representing the idea of fadeless eternity. The unrealistic method of surrealists is used in the melting figure of watches. The clock reminds a viewer of the melting cheese meaning that time runs like cheese melts, hence making the actions of different objects similar. When analyzing the palette, it is true to admit that the colors correspond to each other, for example, blue is opposite to yellow. The same principle of the color contrast is used in the foreground-and-background setting: while the foreground has been painted in dark shades of brown color, the light shades of blue and yellow have been used for the background
At the left-bottom corner of the painting, the viewer is presented with a rugged-orangish cliff and on top of it, two parallel dark green trees extending towards the sky. This section of the painting is mostly shadowed in darkness since the cliff is high, and the light is emanating from the background. A waterfall, seen originating from the far distant mountains, makes its way down into a patch of lime-green pasture, then fuses into a white lake, and finally becomes anew, a chaotic waterfall(rocks interfere its smooth passage), separating the latter cliff with a more distant cliff in the center. At the immediate bottom-center of the foreground appears a flat land which runs from the center and slowly ascends into a cliff as it travels to the right. Green bushes, rough orange rocks, and pine trees are scattered throughout this piece of land. Since this section of the painting is at a lower level as opposed to the left cliff, the light is more evidently being exposed around the edges of the land, rocks, and trees. Although the atmosphere of the landscape is a chilly one, highlights of a warm light make this scene seem to take place around the time of spring.

In this image, a sewage worker is seen cleaning the drainage system, with his bear hands, without the use of either any equipment’s or protection. On the first glace, the image depicts the idea of health risk, because the man is exposed to such contaminants, which for him is work. He is looking up from a dirty drain, covered in filth, which shows that he is clearly used as the subject of this image, whom we are engaged to more as he is making eye contact with its viewers. This picture only includes one person into the frame, as the other man’s face isn’t available to see in this picture, which is man that is holding the bucket. Holding a bucket either emphasise the idea that he is helping the sewage worker, either to get the dirt out or to put the dirt in the drainage system.

However, this medium is not the strongest example of the theme compared to the other works because of the ability to freely interpret its meaning. The first piece of evidence that supports this theme would be the obvious use of the melting clocks. Since this painting was inspired by Dali’s dream created in his subconscious and due to the clocks being disfigured, it could potentially symbolize that time is able to pass before one can comprehend that it is gone. Surrealism was considered a cultural movement of the time and started in the early 1920s. The aims of the Surrealists of this time seemed to follow day to day life and all they tried to show in their works were to target dream and reality. It targeted the inconsistent of the reality and dreams. They also aimed to target the element of surprise.
In today’s generation, Surrealism isn’t looked at, to many, as works of art with valuable back stories. They are broadly judged by the complex drawings of imaginative objects of the artist’s subconscious because they don’t make sense to simple minded viewers. In the 1920’s, Surrealism was introduced to the world. The movement had a large amount of critics because of its unique techniques of making the viewer think outside of the box. What got Surrealism it’s more positive views was the era it blossomed. The *DADA time period, where art was released at every time of the day, expressing the artists’ harsh feelings of the war. Whether it was paintings, political cartoons, or graffiti.
Within every person’s mind there hides memories that will forever last. Memories that will echo with every step you take in life. A memory that was repeated through two eye sites echos on in the story “Once More to the Lake” by E. B. White. In this story, a man takes his son on a fishing trip that his father once took him on. Throughout the whole story the reader sees another memory echoing into the one that's in the midst of making. The man now gets to experience the memory through his father's eyes rather than his little boys.
During his journey as a young artist before finding his home in the realm of surrealism, Dali had experiences with other styles of painting such as realism, impressionism and cubism. According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language Realism is “The representation in art or literature of objects, actions, or social conditions as they actually are, without idealization or presentation in abstract form.” Dali exemplifies this in his painting Basket of Bread (1926). Another style used in his earlier times was impressionism; “A theory or style of painting originating and developed in France during the 1870s, characterized by concentration on the immediate visual impression produced by a scene and by the use of unmixed primary colors and small strokes to simulate actual reflected light” (American Heritage Dictionary), this style is used in the View of Cadaques” (1904). In the “Honey is Sweeter than Blood” we see Dali exemplify cubism, which is “a nonobjective school of painting and sculpture developed in Paris in the early 20th century, characterized by the reduction and fragmentation of natural forms into abstract, often geometric structures usually rendered as a set of discrete planes” (American Heritage Dictionary).

Visual supports are flexible enough that they can be provided in a variety of ways, and across multiple settings. Since the rise of inclusive classrooms, students with disabilities have been included in the general education classroom for a portion, if not a majority, of their school day.
Surrealism and the surrealist movement is a ‘cultural’ movement that began around 1920’s, and is best known for its visual art works and writings. According to André Berton, the aim was “to resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality into an absolute reality, a super-reality” (Breton 1969:14). Surrealists incorporated “elements of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and ‘non sequitur”. Hence, creating unnerving, illogical paintings with photographic precision, which created strange creatures or settings from everyday real objects and developed advanced painting techniques, which allowed the unconscious to be expressed by the self (Martin 1987:26; Pass 2011:30).

It is a personal way of creating opinions about others and ourselves in everyday life and being able to recognize it under various conditions. Each person’s perceptions are used as a kind of filter that every piece of information has to pass through before it determines the effect that it has or will have on the person from the stimulus. It is convincing to believe that we create multiple perceptions about different situations and objects each day. Perceptions reflect our opinions in many ways. The quality of a person’s perceptions is very important and can affect the response that is given through different situations. Perception is often deceived as reality. “Through perception, people process information inputs into responses involving feelings and action.” (Schermerhorn, et al.; p. 3). Perception can be influenced by a person’s personality, values, or experiences which, in turn, can play little role in reality. People make sense of the world that they perceive because the visual system makes practical explanations of the information that the eyes pick up.
