Disrespect is the lack of respect or courtesy. Disrespectful behavior comes in many forms and can have serious consequences. Bullying, pointing, name-calling, lying about someone, laughing at someone speaking while someone else is speaking (especially while an adult is speaking) or speaking in a disrespectful manner to someone are all ways of being disrespectful. So is damaging other people's property. Disrespect hurts people's feelings, at the very least, and disrespectful conduct will also tarnish the reputations of perpetrators and cause others to lose faith in them. In fact, there are so many forms of disrespect, and so many real-world examples of it all around us, that this essay may be one of the easiest essays I have ever written, even though it is the longest. You can disrespect someone anywhere you are and no matter where you are, there will always be consequences. A few places that I am going to discuss how disrespect affects them and the consequences of being disrespectful there are in school and in the workplace. So I think that disrespect affects society negatively.
Disrespecting someone, especially an adult, can have many consequences.
Disrespecting someone that is a student in school could cause a fight. Y oucould upset the wrong person and they could get a group of their friends and gang up on you. This could have further consequences including jail time or being sent to the hospital. Disrespecting an adult, teacher, or administrator, could have severe consequences in school. A few consequences could be writing an essay (like this one), getting ISS, or getting OSS.

In conclusion to this essay on how disrespect of others affect society, I believe that the disrespect of other negatively affects society in a way that diminishes and degrades people. Being disrespectful has many consequences and can hurt someone mentally or physically destroy someone's property. These are the reasons why I think that the disrespect of others negatively affects today's society.
After reading the article, “Just Be Nice,” by Stephen L. Carter, and then considering responses to the questions posed for this assignment I was left somewhat stunted. Exactly what audience did the author intend to reach? What was his purpose? However, the next question stands out as being the main culprit in this writer’s dilemma, because it appears to lead the student down a road that, at the least, assumes that Carter had effectively made his point and that the article works. So then, the response to the later must be formed in a question as well, “Effective as what, and works for whom?” Finally, the assignment requires examples to be cited that indicate how and why the article works. I would think especially after conducting a broad internet search and finding a dearth of responses to this specific article, and that it perhaps wasn’t quite as effective as the assignment would have students assume or expand upon.

All throughout Elementary school teachers and parents would say, “Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you”, but in a way they were wrong. My father married my step-mother who had two children around my age. The oldest was a very normal kid, but the second was autistic. Despite his autism, he was a very sweet kid and when it came to the subject of animals he was a genius, however this made no difference to his peers. He would be referred to as “retard” or other hurtful names behind his back. His brother, himself, and myself all went to the same school and his brother and I would have to deal with these immature students. They would pick on him constantly, but the saddest part is he could never tell that they were picking on him; in his mind he thought that was how everyone played. I would have to talk to these students, but they never understood the problem, “he can’t tell” or “he’s having fun” they would say. In no way does that make it right. Just because someone can’t tell that you are picking on them or doesn’t hear you say the hurtful comments, shouldn’t allow you to disrespect them.
