Elder females face unique challenges in the aging process.  However, it is without question, health provider must provide quality care with dignity.  Identifying where the challenge arise is the first step in addressing the challenges.  The structure of the female body and requirement of care creates some unique challenges from the reproductive system and social role the females play.  The social role of a female life’s is illustrated in figure 3.  Figure 3 has a couple of words that stand out, which are housework, children, school, and work.  The female body in impact by their social role as in figure 3.  For example, female suffer from osteoporosis, reproductive disorders and disease related to early care of body in which the social role …show more content…

Some personal hygiene activities are cleaning private areas, bathing, brushing teeth, going to the bathroom, washing clothes, and cleaning nails.  Security, quality, and comfort are implemented with personal hygiene.  For example, cleaning and elder female requires skills and experience with the peri area after going to the bathroom due to the female body shape.  Poor personal hygiene can lead to other disease process like UTI (Urinary tract infection).  Also, personal hygiene in “Dignity of Care” supports the individual’s lifestyle from the considerations of what the individual wants based on a appropriate standards of quality care.  In addition, benchmarks are used to identify the individual's choices of lifestyle in environmental, hygiene, appearance, and cultural.  A appropriate standard of good practice with personal hygiene is to promote effectiveness and independence of an individual lifestyle.  For example, an individual does not like nail polish on their nails.  Therefore, it is disrespect to paint an individual’s nails.  It is against her wish and can create distrust effecting communication …show more content…

Individual are entitled to confidentiality with a need to know base to maximize privacy.  The idea of “Dignity of Care” with the factor of privacy is to minimize risk based on individual decisions.  However, understanding what is private and personal is a must by care providers.  Information, personal care, rooms, bathroom, treatments, calls, relationship are personal and private.  The individual define what and how much personal space is private.  For example, Denis has a choice to inform people of his alcoholism.  However, Denis can get support from care provide to provide opportunities to public address his alcoholism if he choose too and the factuality will support Denis’s
