WHAT IS DISCRIMINATION?

Frankly, when people hear or think of the word "discrimination"; they some times automatically assume it is a Black and White race issue. Contrary to the belief, discrimination is an unjust, unfair or unreasonable favoring of characteristics, such as race, sex, age, gender, caste or disability over another. The signs of discrimination can be subtle or bold, a statement or ruin gesture. Moreover, it can be an indirect or directed act towards women or men; as well as the young and the elderly.

The Financial Affects of Discrimination

Unfortunately, acts of discrimination destroys it's the victims from the inside out. Also, it can afflict emotional pain and leaves the victim feeling inferior and, robbed of self-esteem and joy. Moreover, it can devastate its victims financially and leave them with the inability to purchase the necessities of life for their families. Furthermore, if employment isn't found quickly, it can destroy their good credit rating; which can later impact the victim's ability to become re-employed. In fact, many employers are judging new applicant's integrity, according to their personal credit scores. Unfortunately, even though there are laws; statistics show that discrimination has dramatically increased throughout the years. Today, the EEOC recognizes many types of discrimination such as Age, Disability, Equal Pay, Compensation, Disability and Obesity, Genetic Information, Harassment, National Origin, Pregnancy, Race/Color, Religion, Retaliation, Sex and Sexual Orientation and Harassment,Race/Color and National Origin
