As the numbers of Chinese laborers increased, so did the strength of anti-Chinese sentiment among other workers in the American economy. This finally resulted in legislation that aimed to limit future immigration of Chinese workers to the United States, and threatened to sour diplomatic relations between the United States and China.
It is hard to believe that after electing a minority president, the United States of America can still be seen as a vastly discriminatory society. A question was posed recently after a viewing of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream…” speech of whether his dream has become a reality. After consideration, a majority of the viewers said no. Although many steps have been taken to improve racial equality in America, there is still no way to legislate tolerance. Dr. King’s message of equality for all has been lost in a black and white struggle over the taken meaning of his context. Until our society can allow all people to live in peace we will never truly achieve King’s dream. Case in point, referring to President Obama as our "our First Black President" should not be considered a statement of pride over how far we have come. Placing this racial qualifier, even in a positive light, only serves to point out his minority status, not the fact that he is the President of the United States. According to Dr. King's dream, a man or woman, black or white, would be viewed as President without qualifying their differences from mainstream America.
“…Everybody jumped on him, and beat him senseless… Everybody was hitting him or kicking him. One guy was kicking at his spine. Another guy was hitting him on the side of his face… he was unconscious. He was bleeding. Everybody had blood on their forearms. We ran back up the hill laughing… He should have died… He lost so much blood he turned white. He got what he deserved…” (Ridgeway 167). The skinheads who were beating this man up had no reason to do so except for the fact that he was Mexican. Racism in this day and age is still as big of a problem as it was in the past, and as long as hate groups are still around to promote violence, society is never going to grow to love one another.
While browsing through articles on the internet, I came across many related to the topic of racism. I am beginning to feel as if I am surrounded by stories of racism. From the KKK’s aggressive campaign against immigrants, to the police violence against black people in cites throughout our nation, racism and discrimination continue to be problems. One story stood out to me and continues to make me uncomfortable. Malachi Wilson, a five year-old boy, could not attend his first day of kindergarten in Seminole, Texas. What could he have done to warrant the principal’s rejection? His hair was simply too long.
By the end of the Mexican American war of 1848, the United States was able to gain possession of Mexican territory. Many whom were living in the new seized land of the U.S. were offered legal citizenship as an agreement to ending the war. However granted legal citizenship for the Mexican Americans would not mean that they gained equal treatment. The problem with the racial caste system was that Mexican American was mixed with Spanish and Indian ancestry and did not fit with the white and black racial categories. They were in fact to be considered white by law but their status, as citizens did not stop the unequal treatment. In the film “A Class Apart” and Juan Gonzalez’s Chapter five depicts the struggles that Mexican Americans had faced with discrimination.

Historically, racism divided the American society into two separate groups with the notion of white superior and black inferior. Therefore, White Americans were granted all the privileges and rights and denied all other races. Supremacy of White Americans is the main reason for the rampant racism towards African Americans and against all Asian Americans including my own ethnicity of South Asian Muslims in American society. African Americans have been treated badly throughout the American history and till today, there is racism against African Americans in our society. There is a discrimination against them in all aspects of life.
The Indian Act The first act is an act that determines who can and can not be a true Indian. It meant to control their affairs under the name of civilization, so the government considers them as savages who need to be controlled and civilized Well from my personal perspective I think that the act is based on racial discrimination because it encouraged the Indians to give up their Indian status and ironically the people who are affected by it are the people who actually own the land, the government must be thinking that taking their land is not enough so they need to decrease the number of The Indians step by step until they vanish. So the way to do that is by forcing them to give up their identity as Indians or otherwise they well be deprived
For many generations, the United States was seen as the land of opportunity where people could come and fulfill their dreams. In the United States, Asian Americans do not receive the same chances as Caucasian Americans in education and their social standing because of their ethnicity. This makes it harder to achieve the same social standing as white Americans. In the book When The Emperor Was Divine the family in the book was discriminated by their neighbors and friends after the attacks of Pearl Harbor. Still even today, Asian Americans are seen as an underclass race and are not treated the same.

Racial discrimination towards colored people “Racism” which is a curse for some people and for some people, it is a way of treating people badly. In our modern society, some people do racial discrimination towards people by justifying their race or cultural background which includes someone’s physical presence, hair type, the color of eyes and skin, height, etc. There are some people who want to stay or live with similar groups who look alike, who have the same belief, almost same economical situation, same interest or language which sometimes creates racism. Back in around 1800 or before, racism was worst. For instance, during that time black people or colored people had to suffer tremendously just because of their skin color or identity.
