Every time we turn on the television to the news, we see and hear stories about disaster and death. Hearing bad news seems impossible to escape. As we look around and see the state of the world, we see the signs of the times. In Revelation, we read about what is to come during the end times. It comes more and more prevalent that prophecies are coming true. The fourth seal has been opened, the fourth trumpet has been sounded and we are living in the end times. The pale horse was one of the result of opening the fourth seal. From the opening came the fourth horsemen and his counterpart. “...there before me was a pale horse! Rather, Death has a companion, Hades, who “...were given control of one fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine, and plague and by the wild beasts of the earth” (Rev. 6:8). However, to kill by the sword is the insignia of the second horsemen as well as famine that is associated with the third horsemen. Death is simply the culmination of previous horsemen activities and its ultimate result, death.. “The seals have a cumulative effect. False religion causes instability within relationships leading to war. Famine follows ear, and when malnourishment occurs and social systems break down, human beings are more susceptible to disease” (McNeely, 2014). However, this was not just about what would happen to the world, it is also what would happen inside the church. Persecution/war, famine and diseases/plagues have taken place many times over the course of earth’s short history. All had the same outcome, death. Thousands people have died for believing in Christ. America was founded in pursuit of religious freedom. The pilgrims boarded the Mayflower to flee from persecution. Shortly after, the Puritans followed for the same reason. There have been countless wars, civil and global since the beginning of the earth up to now. World War II was a major conflict that involved nearly every country in the world. There was almost no corner in the world that remained untouched by World War II. A approximate total of 5,907,900 Jews from 17 different countries
