Many people have or have had special pet they love. We have read a lot of amazing pieces in seventh grade. I most connect with the short story “Dirk the Protector” by Gary Paulsen. Dirk is a loyal and heroic pet, that protects and makes his owner happy to have more someone that cares for him. Dirk made Gary Paulsen's life a little better and happier. I made a strong connection with this story because I have a bunny and I understand what it's like to connect with a pet. Gary’s life became enjoyable because he had someone to be with. This reminded me of the bond my pet and I have. When I first got my pet bunny it was a bright sunny day. On September 16 we got our bunny and named him Joshua. going, it was all a surprise. Now there's always something new everyday. Dirk followed his owner all the time this reminds me of when Joshua sees someone walking he will run behind them, and follow in curiosity. This also reminds me of when my bunny was wondering around in the yard and following me and my sister. Dirk reminds me of all the good memories that me and Joshua have. How he made my life a lot better. Not long ago next year on Easter decided to take out Joshua.
It was a sunny day the trees had no leaves because they were all on the ground. It was a little chilly and the sun was slowly going down. We went to my aunt's house and put the vest and leash on him. At first Joshua was scared he just stayed still not moving. Then curiosity occurred and he started running around the yard really fast. My dad said “ just follow him don’t pull on him! Just follow him around.”He was happy he did a binky. A binky is an expression of joy from a bunny. Bunnies jumps into the air, often twisting and flicking its feet and head. I remember him running and digging in the leafs. Then Joshua ran into a bush. He really scared me his leash got tied he panicked and started pulling. My mom screamed “ let go, let go.” I slowly let go while my mom unraveled it. I remember my heart beating really fast it all happened so fast His leash was almost undone, we picked him up and redid it. After that he wasn't affected by the event he was fine. I was really glad we caught that the vest almost came off because if it did he would just keep running and we would never be able to pick him. Even though it was a scary situation i was glad he still got to run around and be happy. Joshua was fine he was really happy later. I'm glad i connect with “Dirk the Protector” it made the story
better. I connected with this amazing story because of the amazing connecting that Dirk and Gary Paulsen had. The bond they had and how loyal they were. Almost everyone has a special connections with a pet. They trust you and you care for them. This made me realized that not everything goes as planned and it can get really stressful. This was a significant event because it was Joshua's first time outside since we first got him where he had a cage outside. It was a connection that everyone can relate too.
It took about an hour to climb to the top of the mountain because the higher we got, the steeper it was and the more challenging it got to climb because of the loose gravel and rocks. Once we reached the top of the mountain we sat down on the floor to eat some hot Cheetos and drink some of our Gatorade. After catching our breath, we began to take pictures and we saw a skunk on the opposite side of the mountain away from the park. We had never seen a skunk before so we were eager to take a picture with it. As we began our journey down towards the skunk, there was a huge rock on the edge of the mountain that I wanted to stand on and take a picture so that I could capture the beautiful scenery in the background. Smiley wanted to take the same picture as well but when he stood on the rock, it tilted over and rolled down the mountain along with my brother. He was holding the lantern when he fell so I no longer had any light. The only light source available was the screen on my phone and the flash on the camera. The first thing I did was take a picture of the bottom of the mountain to see where my brother was at. To his luck, he only suffered a broken leg. So he wouldn’t think about the pain,
Dreams come and go every night, but some dreams tend to stay for a lifetime. I have always dreamt to become a professional athlete in some way or another. Growing up I have always looked up to many different athletes. Whether it was Ladanian Tomlinson on the football field or Kobe Bryant on the basketball court I have always had some athlete that I wanted to be like someday.
I’ve always felt that animals are the purest spirits in the world. They don’t fake or hide their feelings, and they are the most loyal creatures on Earth and somehow we humans think we’re smarter. I chose this topic about the canine because, some of these canines risk their life’s to protect dog’s best friend.
After a scolding from his mother, Gary walks away from home in the essay, “The Stray,” by Gary Soto. While walking he comes across a stray dog. The lonely two walk for a mile. After walking for a while the two jump up on a car hood. While upon the hood, Gary tells the stray everything about himself. After a while, Gary decides it is always best to touch instead of tell. Time passes and the two hop down from the car. Gary unsuccessfully is able to feed the dog an orange, so he rummages through a garbage can to find the dog any leftovers. Before returning home, Gary names the stray Charlie. The next morning he finds stray in his garbage cans, calls the name “Charlie” and the dog looks up. This essay showed how someone is always there, even when
Kevin Durant, born September 29, 1998, to Wanda and Wayne Pratt in a small county a short distance from Washington D.C. called PG County. His father left the family before his 1st birthday and did not return until Kevin was about 13 years old. Kevin kept his mom’s maiden name because his dad was not in the picture. When Durant was young, he lived with his mom and older brother. “You had my brother when you were 18 years old. Three years later, I came out. The odds were stacked against us. Single parent with two boys by the time you were 21 years old. Everybody told us we weren’t supposed to be here. We went from apartment to apartment by ourselves. One of the best memories I had was when we moved into our first apartment, no bed, no furniture and we just sat in the living room and just hugged each other. We thought we made it” (newsok.com). Durant was one of four children and he liked to play sports with his sister Brianna. He
Despite a promising start as student body president in high school, Gary has been battling his personal demons since age 15, a battle that culminates in a raucous graduation speech which nets him a horrific beating. Gary later sums up this painful last day of high school with a quote from Burt Lancaster: "Sometimes I only succeed in beating myself to death." Anxious to escape an abusive homelife, Gary embarks on a life of drug- and alcohol-fueled escapades that climaxes with an impromptu orgy at a museum, resulting in the destruction of a prized woolly mammoth exhibit. Although declared innocent of any serious wrongdoing at his subsequent trial, it is this incident and the immediate aftermath that impels Gary to begin writing his demons away. A chance encounter at a café leads to a stint as a paid social worker at a homeless shelter, but his drinking soon puts an end to that, as well. Unemployed and broke at age 35, Gary wanders into a bar where he encounters a heavily-tattooed former circus worker named Duke Reynolds. Impressed by Reynolds' showmanship, Gary hesitantly introduces himself. A bond begins to form between the two men when Reynolds tells him: "You're right, you have no future. You are only promised today. Make sure you start living it

John and Jenny, newlywed couple began their family life in the little house in South Florida. Both had full time job in the local newspaper. One morning Jenny decided to get a dog to work on her parenting skills. They ended up bringing home the male puppy of Labrador retriever that seemed to be smitten with the couple with the first sight. The name “Marley” came out accidently, while Jenny was listening to a song from Bob Marley, and both Jenny and John shouted in unison that’s the dog’s name. Within weeks Marley grew tremendously. His active uncontrollable behavior affected the whole house. As a new boarder, Marley changed the family routine as well. Now John and Jenny had to walk the dog twice a day and come back on lunch break to feed him. Young Marley was so hyperactive and so excitable that the couple didn’t even realize that it was a symptom of the behavioral condition called attention deficit hyperactive disorder. Despite his behavior, the dog was serving an important role in the family. My observation the story through the book of growing up ...
Dr. D is a cardiothoracic surgeon. He was my hero. He may well still be, even though he is a throw-back to the days when I was more concerned about science than symbolism.
This book is about heartwarming, unusual animal friendships. It tells us about how different these animals are, and how they have nothing in common, but they are still friends. One cute story was about a basset hound who was sitting in front of the TV, when a tawny owl flew in and landed right next to him. The dog didn't mind. So, for five years (and counting), the two animals met together on the couch, and snuggled. If you liked that story, almost every story is as cute as this, and I highly recommend you read this book.

“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form of medical treatment.
Ever since I was a little boy, about eight years old or so, I had an extreme passion for the sport of basketball. On weekends, I would wake up in the morning, eat a bowl of frosted flakes or cheerios, put on basketball shorts and then go in my driveway to shoot around. I would be out there for hours just shooting around or playing with some random kids that I would occasionally see walking around my neighborhood. This was satisfaction to me, but even better was playing on multiple public teams and not just playing in my driveway every day. In elementary school, I played in a recreational league, just like almost every other kid who tries out basketball when they were younger. This was fun and all but it was nothing too serious. There were never any practices, it was just one or two unorganized games per week. I never took
