WARNING: The following review contains spoilers, I’m telling you now so you don’t pretend to be outraged later.
Last year I reviewed Digimon Adventure Tri. Chapter 1: Reunion. It was the first animated series based on the original eight DigiDestined characters in 16 years. A crisp new animation style to continue a story that fans have waited for since their teens. I really enjoyed the first chapter but watching the next three gave me more questions than answers. Where the hell are the Davis and Ken? Wasn’t Yggdrasil a villain in a completely different season of Digimon? Why is Meiko the central focus of this show? Slowly after asking these questions, I noticed a pattern of how these chapters play out. Each chapter is a series of 4-5 episodes,

Digimon Tri has teased the appearance of Ken as the Digimon Emperor for 4 chapters now and it’s no closer to bring explained than we were 8 months ago. You can’t just have 4 main characters disappear without any explanation or at least a tease that something bigger is going on here. The characters in the show are completely confused about who the real enemy is and their confusion matches the fans. Five chapters down with one to go and I honestly can’t tell you for certain what the hell is going on at this
The first chapter in the book At The Dark End of the Street is titled “They’d Kill Me If I Told.” Rosa Park’s dad James McCauley was a expert stonemason and barrel-chested builder. Louisa McCauley was Rosa Park’s grandmother, she was homestead and her husband and oldest son built homes throughout Alabama’s Black Belt. In 1912 James McCauley went to go hear his brother-in-law preach. While there, he noticed a beautiful light named Leona Edwards. She was the daughter of Rose Percival and Sylvester Edwards. Sylvester was a mistreated slave who learned to hate white people. Leona and James McCauley got married a couple months after meeting and Rosa was conceived about nine months after the wedding. In 1915, James decided to move North with all
In the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, young Louie Zamperini is the troublemaker of Torrance, California. After his life had taken a mischievous turn, his older brother, Pete, managed to convert his love of running away, into a passion for running on the track. Ooka Shohei named the last chapter of Fires on the Plain “In Praise of Transfiguration.” Through the whole novel, readers witness the protagonist Tamura transform from an innocent soldier to a killer. Readers watch him go from condemning the practice of eating human flesh to eating human flesh for his own survival. At the end, Readers see Tamura’s redemption as he shot Nagamatsu who killed and ate his own comrade Yasuda. What was the difference between two men who both killed and ate human beings? To Tamura, the guilt of eating human flesh distinguished himself from Nagamatsu who cold-bloodily killed Yasuda. As Tamura recalled, “I do not remember whether I shot him at that moment. But I do know that I did not eat his flesh; this I should certainly have remembered.” (224) The fact of him shooting at Nagamatsu had no importance to Tamura. However, his emphasis on not eating
In the Earley book, the author started to talk about the history of mental illness in prison. The mentally ill people were commonly kept in local jails, where they were treated worse than animals. State mental hospitals were typically overcrowded and underfunded. Doctors had very little oversight and often abused their authority. Dangerous experimental treatments were often tested on inmates.
In Chapter 2 of They Say/ I Say, Graff et.al. discusses the craft and techniques of summaries, well technically the art of it. A summary explains the critical information presented in a writer’s own words from another source in a reduced length. Summaries can still make it possible for people to gain knowledge even if they are busy. While writing a summary, the writer should only focus on the text and information from the other source. Writers can achieve this by playing the “believing game” in which the writer suspends their own beliefs and focuses only on the summary, to not cause confusion for the reader. If the writers refuse to not focus on the viewpoint of the author then there will be two different viewpoints in the summary that will
The life of a hero fits a certain pattern. Various heroes from different mythology all seem to follow the same events in their lives. The story of Finding Nemo follows this pattern. Three crucial characteristics of a hero’s life include having a call which will lead to an adventure, embarking on a quest, and lastly the return. In the film Finding Nemo, Marlin performs these three elements of a Hero’s Quest Cycle. Marlin is called to his adventure when a diver captures his son, Nemo, he goes on a journey to find and rescue Nemo and lastly, he returns to his reef and thus becoming one of the typical models of classic heroism.
¨Finding Nemo¨ directed by Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich, is a great example of a hero’s journey. The clown fish Marlin goes through the stages of a hero’s journey. Marlin has a son named Nemo, his wife is dead so they live alone. Marlin has always told Nemo not to go into the middle of the ocean by himself. In the movie Nemo gets distracted by a boat and that's where the journey begins. Marlin best shows 3 of the main stages of a hero’s journey. Marlin from finding Nemo represents the call, the mentor, and the return.
Criticisms (Favourable): Very original, intelligent plot. Well-written characters that aren’t two dimensional and who make human decisions (David’s father, who may seem like a cruel man but who is really just doing what he was brought up to believe is right).
Overall, this book was enjoyable to read, it wasn’t incredible, but it was good. The characters made it easy to root for them. This book is not for the faint of heart, due to some gory descriptions, however I liked it and would recommend reading it.
"Windup Girl" has been review in lots of places. So this review is going to slant more towards critique... and that means I'm going to talk about the ending. Don't read any further if you hate having endings 'spoiled!' Don't say I didn't warn you... and don't make me haul out the tag!
well as claiming that it was "explicitly pornographic" and "immoral." After months of controversy, the board ruled that the novel could be read
The first phase of the hero’s journey is “the call to adventure”. The Call to Adventure can be defined as a problem, a challenge. or a request. Which is received by the hero and will require some form of action which takes him off into the unknown. In Into the Wild, Christopher is inspired to travel west and live a self sufficient life in the woods. His emotions incite by his harsh feelings toward his dad for what he has put the family through. In 1984 Winston’s call comes from Julia in the form of her love note. Even though Winston knows the danger of showing to much interest in the note he realizes the note has made an impact on him. In The stranger Meursault’s call is when he starts having an affair with Marie. He chooses not to have feelings
REVOLUTION SHALL BE TELEVISED!!! Or in this case read. In anycase Tokyo Ghoul Re Chapter 133 has a lot of plot developments going on. It appears that half of my theory was proven correct in this chapter. I already can’t wait for next week to arrive.
It is an adult fiction book that is intended for mature readers. I do not make it my habit to read books that explicitly talk about sex in such a vulgar way and debated if I should write a review for the book. However, I do think that this book does add something to the conversation
