Republican Party.These two parties started as one, which was known as the Democratic-Republican Party.In 1792, James
Madison and Thomas Jefferson organized a single Democratic-
Republican Party; but after the elections in 1824, due to many disagreements between the people who were supporting each candidate, the party was divided and became what we know today as the National Republicans and the Democratic Party.There is also the Libertarian Party, which is the third largest political party in the United States.
