Differences And Similarities Between Batman And Superman

Batman and Superman are on a similar mission: to defeat evil, protect the ones they love, and live two different lives in order to protect their city.

The origin of these two characters is quite significant. Bruce Wayne or “Batman” is mortal and from Earth, his parents were killed in a robbery while young Bruce Wayne was spared, this creates a pivotal moment that shapes his entire life. He was raised by his butler Alfred until he was 18; it wasn’t until he was 18 years old that he traveled the world and learned various forms of martial arts and weapons training. After 7 years of traveling and discovering himself, Bruce Wayne returns home to Gotham City; which is taken over by corruption. Crime Lords run the streets along with the government positions. Bruce Wayne uses his skills along with his company (Wayne Enterprises) he becomes the Batman.

Superman, or Clark Kent, has a

unique origin. He is from a planet called Krypton. When the planet Krypton underwent an apocalypse his actual parents sent him to Earth, as a young baby he was discovered by two humans Jonathan and Martha Kent, a caring couple who have no kids; however, they have a farm and a willingness to help those who can’t help themselves. While Superman has no powers due to the oxygen on Earth, during his childhood and teen years his “adoptive” parents teach him how to be a respectable young man. As his powers become available to him Superman is unsure what is going on because he thinks he is on Earth. He ends up in Metropolis as an adult defending human terror and those that are like Superman, not of Earth.
Superman and Batman have largely different origins, they are both similar in that they each have created a secret identity. Bruce creates a secret identity in order to remain anonymous as he fights crime. He made this possible by making Batman and Bruce polar opposites. Bruce is usually seen in the day and at night for public events to avoid any accusations of him being Batman. Batman is never seen in the day and never makes a public appearance. Bruce is fun and outgoing: He is a billionaire who spends large amounts of money on lavish luxuries. Batman is often rude to those he is around. He never has outlandish behavior; his behavior is never over the top. Ultimately, Batman’s secret identity aids him in completing his mission.

It is amazing that the only thing hiding his real identity is a pair of glasses and a "spit-curl.” Clark tries so hard to ensure a difference from Superman that he fools those that are around him all the time, both as Superman and as Clark. For example, Lois Lane, Clark's “girlfriend”, never figures out the identity of Superman. Lois’s ability to discover that Clark is Superman shows the lengths Clark goes to in order to change his personality. Superman’s secret identity enables him to fight crime more effectively, Both Superman and Batman are much more effective in fighting crime in having their secret identities.

However, Superman and Batman’s secret persona’s enable them to deliver their version of justice. Instead of hunting villains, Superman waits and reacts to every crisis, threat, and emergency, he is always protecting the lives of the innocent and sometimes even the evil from immediate danger. Only after everyone is safe will he take on the main threat that is at

hand.
Batman, has a completely different style of fighting crime. His style of justice is like a cowboy in the western movies of olden days. He finds the cancer that is killing the city and destroys it. While he is much more proactive, Batman is like a detective. He uses his brains to hunt down his villains. While smarter than the average human, Batman is only human and still makes mistakes in his judgment, often haunting him throughout his life.
Batman and Superman are similar in many ways, they both have a mortal upbringing, they have a secret identity that is only revealed if they want to reveal it, and they both protect a city that is in perplexing and constant danger. On the other hand: they are polar opposites, Batman is nothing but a ninja with enough money to afford and manufacture equipment that not many other people have access to these things. Superman is a guy who has extraterrestrial abilities and isn’t even genetically human, although he has a love for the human race that molds his decisions into what is best for them. They may have differences, decisions, abilities, humanness, and weaknesses. These are two great superheroes, both of which aim to fix the city of theirs that is so corrupt only they can fix it.
When it boils down to it, if both of these superheroes had to fight but they were stripped of their uniform, secret identity, powers, and weaknesses are triggered; Batman would come out on top. He has no superhuman ability, his only weakness is the ones he cares about; if you take his money, his equipment, and the ones he cares about. He will be nothing but a highly trained, highly motivated, and highly infuriated man with a lot of knowledge in the martial arts. If one takes away all of superman’s abilities he would be nothing less of a normal human, he has weakness from Kryptonite (a shiny green rock) and he heals by way of sunlight. Take that away from him, you would just have a man who may barely function.
