In a life where its value is derived from the price tag attached to personal possessions, it can be easy to throw caution to the wind when it comes to being responsible with money and property. The Izikothane way of life adopts this outlook on life whole-heartedly, which is completely contradictory of the practical lifestyle set forth by Ben Franklin in “The Way to Wealth.” Their ability to spend money at the drop of a hat is nothing like the frugal, save-happy practices that Franklin supports in his work. According to his words, money comes to people that are careful with it, and the Izikothane are anything but (238). The lifestyle revolves around the expenditure of money on things that are not necessities in life; they are luxuries that, if need be, people can live without.

This quote shows our real world, and the people that spend money, but they forget about the value of money. Nowadays people want more than they have. They forget how many things they have and how much money they spend. Most people when they see people having something better, they think that they need it also. Also, people forget how hard they get that money, but how easily and quickly they spend it. In the article “The Treadmill of Consumption” by Roberts, he says that people are willing to go into debt to buy certain products and brands. That is right that people can do crazy things to buy certain goods. Sometimes people
This paper will examine sociological theories and how they relate to the social institution of the family. We typically view society as a group of people, but in sociology, society is not a group of people but a social organization. People are molded by society to fit within the accepted societal bounds. Society must be understood using “the meanings that people put on their values and beliefs” (Bartle, 2010). Within sociology there are three major perspectives. These are the Functionalist, Conflict and Interactionist Perspectives. Each perspective views society in different manners, with each being correct and relevant since social institutions are too complex to be defined by any one theory. Each perspective will be used to explain the perspectives’ relevance to the family.
Family on the other hand is the everyday living environment within which spirituality and historicity are applied and lived out. ‘Family’ in the Armenian community refers to more than the family of origin or the nuclear family. Instead, it includes both of these along with all of the extended family and even the small surrounding community. These family ties are much more important and influential in the decision making process than would initially appear, therefore, they must be acknowledged and understood. All Armenians may not uphold the same spirituality, historicity, and family values, however, they would still approach life’s decisions based on these cultural categories.

It will explain some of the similarities and differences between the sociological theories in regards to families and how they affect the family members.
