2nd Draft All over the world, it has been proven that people do awful things. We may not know why, or how someone would think of doing something so horrible. Some people just do it out of hatred, and others have something going on in their life that is causing them to act that way. Overall, people mean well and are good at heart. People also all over the world have shown selfless acts of kindness, by helping one another when they, themselves are in need. People may have feuds with one another, but at one point in time they have an appreciation for one another. People are good at heart because, most everyone has good intentions, no matter what happens. In the Diary of Anne Frank on Pg 477 Mrs. Frank. “Poor Darling. Try to sleep then I’ll …show more content…
For example on Pg.473: “Dussel- I haven’t adjusted myself to others. I hope you’ll bear with me until then. Anne -Let me help you.” Despite Anne and Mr. Dussel's disagreements they both showed kindness to each other when Mr. Dussel first moved into the Annex. Another reason is on Pg. 502: “Mr. Van Daan- Please. I’m so ashamed. Dussel: Oh, for God’s sake! Mrs. Van Daan- Don’t, Putti. Margot- It doesn’t matter now!” After the matter of the food being stolen, as soon as the invasion had happened, everyone had forgiven each other. Finally, In the book, Anne passes out gifts for everyone, and then the Vaan Daans do start to appreciate Anne and how thoughtful she was to get individual gifts for everyone. Mostly before this happened the Vaan Daans had not liked Anne very much and now they began to. After stating all of my evidence these are reasons why people are good at heart. Even after all of the troubles going on in the world, there is still hope. Everyone can be good, they just need a chance. All, of the reasons that I have stated support my overall statement, of why people are truly good at
Act 1, scene 5 is one of the specific scenes that show one of the main ideas of the play, which is that you shouldn’t give up hope, even when the darkest of times are coming and this is shown through the attitude of Anne, as well as Mr. Frank, throughout the play. First off, this scene takes place on the first day of Hanukkah, which is a jewish holiday in which jews celebrate the event of Judah becoming the leader in place of Mattathias. This holiday is celebrated by singing songs, giving gifts, lighting candles, and reading prayers. The Franks, the Van Daans, and Dussel were jews, Dussel still not knowing Hanukkah, so they were accustomed to celebrate the holiday, despite the lack of things to give and the fact that they couldn’t be very noisy because they were
Miep and Mr. Kraler are the people responsible for helping them hide. They bring them things they need, and make sure to keep their living arrangement a secret. They both show great kindness. The Van Daans and the Franks are told to stay quiet from eight until six, they must remain completely quiet because the annex is above the warehouse, and that’s when the workers will be in. They can stay ...
The thought of good people brings warmth and joy to my heart. On a daily basis I would like to think that most, if not all, of the people we surround ourselves with strive to be good people. My initial thought that came to mind before I began to read David Foster Wallace’s “Good People” was that this would be a story about all the people around each other doing good for one another bringing happiness to me as a reader. The story took a huge turn as it did not talk about the good of the people, but the expectations and judgments we hold for others to be good people. My eyes and my heart opened up, as Wallace’s story unfolded, in which he used a controversial issue to make a point by tugging at the emotions of the reader. I now know that this story was not to make a statement about a very controversial issue, but to make us realize that being a good person doesn’t always mean we have to follow by the expectations or rules that have been set for us, but by being who we truly are and having an understanding for one another.
Mr. Steve Harmon is a good kid. His teacher Mr. Sawicki thinks that he is “talented, bright, and compassionate.” Steve Harmon states “I am not a bad person. I know in my heart I am not a bad person.” That means that his teacher, parents, and he thinks that he is not a bad person himself.
The definition of “good” is not as black-and-white as approval and disapproval according to Aquinas. He defines “good” as more “enticing” or “desirable”. The most universal type of goodness is the idea that everything is good as everything is being.
It reveals that Anne is an affectionate person, and she believed everyone had good in them and aiding others was important. For example, "We're so selfish that we talk about 'after the war' and look forward to new clothes and shoes, when we should be saving every penny to help others when the war is over...," shows her helpful way of life. It means she would rather help others outside that are suffering than be living safely in hiding. She stayed optimistic while she was living with the fear that she could be discovered and taken away to her death. After news of the invasion, everybody had high spirits that they were going to be saved. She stated, "...whoever is happy will make others happy too," in her
...ly or mentally, a conscious effort to injure others that is no obvious benefit to the human race is not good. I believe that people try to do good most of the time. For example, the person had a motorcycle accident. He hated by a car on the local road and stocked under the car. The car was flamed. This news is from the yesterday of FOX25. When I saw many people stopped and together to get the car off the person and being without thinking about the flames, I am so grateful. The man was saved and no life injury and the story have a good ending. Accordingly, people are innately good. I think I am actually a good person. I like to open doors, push in chairs, listen to people, and help little kids. No meter outside the world how changed it doesn’t influence my good personality at all. I agree Carl Rogers’s theory people should be capable of becoming conscious good.
“Nothing can possibly be conceived in the world, or even out of it, which can be called good, without qualification, except a good will.” This passage from Kant tells the philosophy of what constitutes as being good for the sake of just being good. Having good character is not enough to be considered good. What is important is the desire to be good should be motivation to become a person of character. The same can be said for pursuing fortune.
How Anne felt towards other people was often affected on by how they treated her, for example in the previous paragraph, we described her emotions with the quote “I do not care what you say. Why do you just not wash your hand off Anne I'm a hopeless case.” This can also describe how she felt towards other people. Such as her mother before that she said “More than once after a series of absurd reproaches, I’ve snapped at mother,” which foreshadowed that this could have occurred more than once. From this quote we can tell that she gets annoyed at her mother since she doesn’t understand how it is for Anne. In the book she says it's not easy for her being told pack up as much as you can we're leaving for a long time. The progression these citations show us about how Anne felt before the Annex living an essential life to living in the bundled Annex with almost no food to eat is atrocious. Also the fact that they could be kidnapped at any time and be murdered is dreadful and it frightened her greatly I know this, because in the play she had a nightmare about the Germans discovering them and dragging them away. Overall take a rather descriptive and in depth look at the quote, then you will find out how misunderstood Anne really
Anne’s belief that people are really good at heart is genuine because even though people can be disrespectful they are still benevolent. An example that sustains that Anne’s quote is sincere is, “We [have] all done things that we [are] ashamed of. Anne: Look at me, the way I [have] treated Mother,” (pg. 368). This demonstrates that people are good at heart because people realize their mistakes and acts of unkindness. Moreover, people learn from their misfortunate behavior and actions and become better people. While Anne thinks that people can be good at heart no matter what, other people do not change such as Mr. Van Daan. He stole food at night while the children stayed starving, wishing for a bigger portion of food, when he got caught Mrs.
I feel that Anne was Justified in arguing with Mr. Van Daan because Anne believed that women should do what they want and not what their husbands want or expect them to do. It was wrong of Anne to argue with an adult but she just wanted to be heard and understood by anyone. Anne wanted to be a famous dancer or singer and Mr. Van Daan didn’t believe she could do it because of the society they lived in back then. Anne didn’t want a husband who didn’t believe in her dreams. She wanted someone that would help her achieve her goals instead
...o in that, a degree of goodness can be expected. However, a good person cannot be a measure of ethical truth. These days, ethical truth or ethical goodness is a measure of a good person. Now we have certain criteria that can be used to define acting ethically. A person is judge by others to be good by how well that person fits those criteria. For example, a wealthy individual may not want to donate a large sum of money to a worthy organization. Social pressure may be enough to compel that person to donate money. If that person donates enough money to satisfy the expectations of the society, that person is perceived as being a good person.
Being a good person is something that everyone strives to do. For most, it is a subconscious thing we do. For others being a good person is a way of life, not just a superficial “look at me and what I do,” but a deep spiritual understanding that everything one does in their daily life is beneficial to others around that person.
What makes these people good is their ability to empathize, have compassion, be unselfish, and to put others before himself. Whereas evil people lack all of these qualities and do the exact opposite. Then he goes on to say that most people are in the gray area between. The qualities of a good person that Taylor notes in his article of “The Real Meaning of ‘Good’ and ‘Evil’,” are accurate to today’s world, however, there are many more aspects that lend a role in deciding what is good and what is evil. For instance, the situations one goes through on a daily basis can determine this for
Thesis: a good person is someone who actively creates value for others, out of the kindness of their heart.
