Mexico is a country filled with wonders and history. This beautiful country is rich with festivals, delicious food, exquisite music, soulful dancing, and a prominent heritage. The people of Mexico have a lot to share with the rest of the world.
There are many festivals in Mexico some most people know of and others are not so notable. One of these festivals is the Day of the Dead. In short, Day of the Dead, called Dia de los Muertos in Spanish, is a Mexican holiday that occurs on November 1 and 2 of each year.
During this celebration, the people of Mexico believe the boundaries between life and death begin to blur. Men, women, and children of all ages honor and celebrate their loved ones who have passed away by participating joyously in a festival, …show more content…

There are dances for weddings, for funerals, for national celebrations, for death, for birth, for rain, for agriculture, for people in love, and for people that “dance around” love. There is even "animal” dances along with many, many other dances. In gist, Mexicans dance when they are happy and celebrating, when they are sad and mourning, when they are hopeful and in love or broken hearted. No matter what is happening, there is always music and dance to express ones feelings.
Some other types of dance in Mexico are the Mexican Agricultural Dance, the Dance of the Deer as well as the Mexican Balie Folkorico (Traditional-mexican-culture.com, n.d.). The traditional dance technique is the Zapateado the performers drive their heels into the ground pounding out swift, often syncopated rhythms which match the instruments. Another dance is the jarabre tapatio or Mexican Hat Dance. With stylized costumes and prescribed movements it has become the national dance of Mexico. Each of these different dances come from parts all around Mexico.
