In recent articles, I’ve discussed pre-cleansing the circulation and digestive tracts with alkalizing and detoxifying foods, along with gentle cleansing supplements like modified citrus pectin (MCP) and alginates. This initial phase helps to prepare the body for a more thorough detox process. In this article, I recommend herbs and nutrients to add to your program that help with in-depth toxin removal.
Taking The Next Step
As we proceed with detoxification, we need to incorporate cleansing supplements that comprehensively remove toxins from organs and tissues, following what’s called the detox cycles. The last thing we want is for these toxins to be removed from one area only to take up residence in another. That’s why we begin by cleansing the circulation and digestion before adding in stronger detox agents that target toxins in organs and tissues such as the lymphatic system, liver and other areas. In addition to in-depth toxin removal, we also need strong antioxidant and vital energy support during this second phase.
There are a wide variety of herbs that support these efforts, more than can be listed in this article. As an added advantage, such herbs tend to promote other health areas as well. Here are some good recommendations.
Priming Immunity
We often don’t think of it this way, but the immune system is one of our most important detoxifiers, eliminating viruses, bacteria, fungi, toxins and other invaders. So a healthy immune system is a must. Turmeric is a common spice, particularly in Indian food, that contains a compound called curcumin. Curcumin supports immunity, helps cleanse the circulation and promotes antioxidant activity.

The formula includes herbs that target a variety of organs to provide a comprehensive, in-depth cleanse. In addition, it’s designed to remove toxins in areas that have become stagnant due to poor circulation or lymphatic blockages. It’s a great supplement to take daily for a slow, gentle cleanse and at increased dosages for in-depth toxin removal, following an initial preparation phase.
Remember, detoxification is a process. It took many months, or even years, for these toxins to accumulate; so they can’t be removed in a weekend. Going slowly has the added advantage of giving the body time to adjust. A detox crisis, that period when toxin removal just makes you feel sick, is simply nature’s way of telling us we’re moving too fast. Ultimately, detoxification should be an enjoyable process that restores our energy and preserves long-term health.

The first step to take prior to beginning a raw food diet is to detoxify your body. A detox is needed for anyone feeling bloated or congested, tired and low in energy, unhealthy and overweight, or foggy and out of sorts. Unfortunately, most Americans fall into at least one or more of these categories. In the same way that we need a vacation after months of hard work, our body needs a vacation from the regular foods that we consume. Detoxification is key in boosting the immune

Some common health traditions based on my culture include the use of Unani Medicine, Ayurveda, Siddha, Yoga, Naturopathy and Homeopathy in daily use in rural villages as well as urban low cost clinics. The treatment however is highly individualized. Unani medicine is ancient Greek medicine that was based on the concept of balancing body humors. They either fell out of balance, which might yield diseases (depending on circumstances), or were restored to balance to heal diseases. Unani systems involve these four elements: earth, air, water, and fire; along with four natures: cold, hot, wet, and dry; and four humors: blood (which is hot/wet), phlegm (cold/wet), yellow bile (hot/dry), and black bile (cold/dry). Ayurveda is mainly based on herbs, plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables and all vegetation that grows around us in plenty. It is our native system based on the peculiar Indian conditions. Ayurveda begins when everything fails and when the treatment is uncertain a...

The "Process of Disease" explained through the seven stages of symptomology is the basis of macrobiotic theory with regard to people's eating habits and its effect on the human body. Macrobiotics applies yin-yang principles to explain the relationship between food and the human organism and a balanced diet. Macrobiotic philosophy defines a healthy person using three natural life processes as criteria: urination, bowel movements and breathing. When the body ingests toxins, as a result of an unbalanced diet, its natural healing process produces abnormalities in one or all of these three life processes. Most people naturally react to the situation by taking medicine to relieve the symptoms. According to practitioners of macrobiotics, the ingestion of pharmaceuticals only inhibits the body's ability to heal i...
Unending weakness, untimely maturing, joint inflammation, poor skin and hair quality, danger, hypersensitivities, growth, and numerous different ailments can all outcome from flawed assimilation since poor processing meddles with supplement breakdown, ingestion and digestion system; permits poisons to stay in the body and aggregate; and over anxieties the body. The gastrointestinal framework assumes a focal part in safe framework homeostasis. It is the primary course of contact with the outer environment and is over-burden each day with outside jolts, now and again hazardous as pathogens (microscopic organisms, protozoa, parasites, infections) or harmful substances, in different cases exceptionally helpful as nourishment or commensal vegetation. The critical position of the gastrointestinal framework is affirmed by the colossal measure of invulnerable cells that dwell inside it. Without a doubt, gut-related lymphoid tissue (GALT) is the noticeable piece of mucosal-related lymphoid tissue (MALT) and speaks to right around 70% of the whole safe framework; also, around 80% of plasma cells [mainly immunoglobulin An (IgA)- bearing cells] live in GALT. GALT communicates entirely with gastrointestinal capacities in a dynamic way; for example, by expanding intestinal penetrability in replay
Every fasting method, suited individually to a person’s needs, cleanses toxins from the person’s body. Herbal remedies’ qualities are widespread availability, lower cost, effective for chronic conditions. Herbal remedies are the use of plants or plant extract to treat a person’ overall health. Herbal treatments are prominent for developing countries for instance, “in Africa up to 90% and in India 70% of the population depend on traditional medicine to help meet their health care needs” (Wachtel-Galor & Benzie, 2011), due to their low cost and availability. Ayurveda is the general name given to the collective practices of ancient Indian medicine and is made up of many different components such as lifestyle changes, iridology, massage therapy, aromatherapy and importantly, the application of medicinal plants and herbs. As an ancient science, until recently not much research has been conducted on the efficacy of such treatments and practices. This has been due to both the lack of availability of concrete resources and debate on the validity of translations of first sources. Of all the herbs, the use of three of the traditional plant-based treatments- namely Neem (Azardirachta indica), Sage (various Salvia species) and Turmeric (Curcuma longa) - will be discussed due to reported high efficiency rates and frequent usage. These plants are reported to be highly useful in the field of Ayurveda and are not only the most frequently listed of all the herbs but also the most frequently researched. Although many cases have been documented to prove the usefulness of these herbs, there have been many cases that discourage the practice of Ayurveda by providing an argument against the safety and reliability of these herbs. Many of these claims now have recently been verified or shown to be false through proper scientific study. The use of neem and turmeric in particular has become highly controversial due to the concepts of biopiracy and biopatents and a brief introduction of that topic will be given with specific examples. Issues of safety and the general lack of scientific study will also be discussed. Negative effects of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic remedies that have been discovered through research are presented. Other benefits of using Ayurvedic plant-remedies such as cost effectiveness will also be analyzed.
