Once I step off the car and walk on the dirt of Autlan, Jalisco, there is no other better feeling. Mexico as a whole is a magnificent country, but Autlan, Jalisco, it is as if you are on another planet. To me Autlan is the most authentic town in Mexico. The town is so unique, and the people there all know each other. With a population of around 62,000 people with races all around the world; we consider ourselves one gigantic family. With some of the greatest food, agriculture, and people; Autlan to me, is the most beautiful place on this earth. One of the most used senses in the town of Autlan is the sense of smell. Walking down the streets I can smell all at once the smell of pork slowly cooking, the fresh grass and flowers, and the pure air. Autlan is recognized for some of the most unique and tasty food in Jalisco. The taste might be more important when it comes to the food, but when I mix these scents with the beautiful views of Autlan, it almost brings me to tears. “El Cerrito”, has been a well known view in Jalisco for decades. My mother and father as children use to go up this famous trail to see the overview of Autlan. The trail is about a thirty minute hike, but it is worth every second. Imagine fields of dirt for miles, but once you hit a certain point in the hike you start seeing an abundance of trees, bushes, and flowers. Then suddenly you are under a bunch of trees and around a bunch of green and colorful bushes and flowers. You basically enter a rainforest. After a couple more minutes of hiking you reach the peak, the peak that presents you to the gorgeous city of Autlan. And in the middle of that view, a gigantic cross surrounded by a little fountain. Looking out you can see the town of Autlan, to your left plush green mountains, and to your right on another mountain, a majestic
