The Golf Course The town I grew up in, in central Minnesota has this small little golf course. Now to the average person who did not grow up here in my town would not even bat an eye at it and think it was a run down crappy course. To me though this golf course is one of the best places in the entire world and when I am here I can just be me. Here I can escape from the world and all of my problems and just be me.This place has shown me what hard work can accomplish and how much fun it can be by doing so. It has also changed my perspective on the world and impacted my life in so many ways and that is why I picked this place to relate to my beliefs in the world. I choose this place because for as long as I can remember this golf course has …show more content…
I have always golfed at this course but I never started taking it serious until my junior year of high school thats when I felt that this course is my home. When I joined the golf team my senior year I started spending hours and hours on end every day at this golf course working with my coach trying to become better and with all the hours I spent here the more I got to know this course and it started to feel even more like home. After golf season was over though this course felt so much more like home I decided to invest in a membership. That meant I could golf all day any day whenever I wanted so as the summer went on I started to spend more and more time there. In fact I started to spend so much time there I knew the layout and where everything was better than anywhere in the world. Golfing here became second nature to me I got to know it so well that is why I like this particular course so …show more content…
Living in a small town there is not always that much to do which leads some kids to do things they should not be doing but not me. As long as I have the golf course I know I will never have to worry about doing something I should not be doing, that course has kept my friends and I out of trouble for many years it has given us a place to play and hang out for hours and hours on end. Another way this course has impacted my life is helping me realize how much potential I could have as a golfer. Every professional golfer has their home golf course they use as their base and I strongly feel like this golf course is my base even though I am just an amateur at this point but maybe as long as I have access to this golf course I think I can use the resources I have their to maybe take it to a higher amateur level. Now having access to this course whenever I please for free has definitely had a major impact on my level of skill I have been able to achieve as of lately. Being like a second home to me i have spent hundreds of hours there perfecting my craft, but I still have many more hours of work I can put in there. So as long as I am psychically able to play the amazing sport of golf this golf course will always be my home base, and because of that it has had one of the biggest impacts on my life personally more than anyone or anything because no matter when I am down or just need some time to think and be
My most impressive aspect about this facility is the way the shop and the golf course is set up to their guest. In the shop they have a area that allows people from the public to come in and watch golf or just lounge around in the lounge area. They even have a few golf related games on the inside for the younger crowd they attract. I also admire how the club looks into making everyone around the community happy by giving free lessons out on special occasions.
Contrary to what most think, an “Arnold Palmer” is not just a blend of tea and lemonade. One day, all might be able to swing a golf club like Arnold Palmer. Golf has been around since the thirteenth century and was introduced by the Scottish and Dutch. The main goal of golf is to reach the hole in the fewest amount of shots possible. One main difference between golf and many other sports is the lower the score the better. Regardless of the fact that the game was once banned, golf is now enjoyed by many (“The History of Golf”). Despite the images in common golf commercials, the golf swing is endlessly complicated.
Charles Macdonald was an early founder of American golf. He recalled playing golf in the Chicago area as early as 1875. Another promoter of golf, a young man named Andrew Bell from Burlington, Iowa, was initially exposed to golf when he went to Scotland to attend the University of Edinburgh. Upon his return to the United States in 1883, he laid out four informal golf holes on the family farm and played a few rounds with his friends. In 1884 Colonel Hamilton Gillispie, a former Scotsman who went into the lumber business in Florida, was known to hit golf balls in a field that is now the main street of Sarasota (History of Golf 7). Also in 1884, the Oakhurst Golf Club was formed in North Carolina now famous for it’s first hole from the Club’s Homestead course, celebrated to...
Golf is the ultimate battle between man and nature. It is a beautiful sport in which dreams come true and hearts are broken. Man is challenged on every stroke by nature’s elements. Wind and rain are only a few of the conditions that affect this great game. Undulating hills, sand bunkers, thick rough, and even creeks and ponds come into play on most golf courses. These features are fierce at Augusta National Golf Course. Located along the fall line, the natural beauty of the region is the perfect complement to this championship golf course. Every spring when the flowers are in full bloom, Augusta plays host to The Masters Championship and is transformed into the Mecca of Golf.
After my first year on the team, the coach warmed up to me. He still however, kept his distance, but I learned to rise above him. I played a total of eleven tournaments and even went to the state championship. Golfing on the team made me so mentally strong. I learned that I could do something if I wanted to, even if there was no support for me doing it. I continued to play for the rest of my high school career, and improved with every shot.
Ever since I was a little kid, golf has been there. Golf has been something in my life that I can always fall back on and use to get some anger out of just to clear my head. No matter what it was, golf has been my rock. There is nothing like waking up at the crack of dawn to get out under the sun to play a game you love.
Three of my teammates and I were golfing together. We teed off at one o’clock. Walking down the fairway of number one looked just like a scene out of a movie. The lake off to the right and a line of trees along the left, were just gorgeous.
I guess it started when I was about twelve years old. My father took me to this place called a golf course. I did not know why or what we were here for, but I was interested in finding out. We entered a building called a clubhouse; then, he paid for a bucket of practice balls. I followed him to the driving range. Once we got there, he got a metal stick from his golf bag and gave it to me. I grabbed the stick, and he showed me how to hold it. Then, he told me to swing it. I swung it back and forth as careless as I could. He then said, "Son, you have one of the nicest golf swings I have ever seen." I did not even know what I was doing with that stick, but I guess my dad saw something I didn't. My father then decided that he was ready to teach me how to use the three clubs of golf: a putter, iron, and wood. He handed me the putter, and we went to the green. He explained to me that a putter is used on a green to get the ball into the hole. I took a few smooth swings back and forth to get a feel for a putter. He said, "Hit this ball until it goes into the hole." I was impressed with myself because it only took me six hits to get it in the hole. He laid twenty balls on the green, and he told me to hit every ball in with one shot. It took me about three hours, but I accomplished what my dad told me. He thought I was ready to try the next club, so we headed to the next location. We went out onto the fairway, and he handed me an iron. He laid out some more balls on the ground and told me to hit them towards the flag on the green. The first ball I hit did not even get close to the green. The rest of the balls I hit went either over or on the front of the green, but I never let another one fall short. My dad said, "Keep practicing until you hit all of the balls on the green." I kept practicing until all of the balls were laid up around the flag.
Imagine the sun bursting through the trees for the first time of the new day, the smell of freshly cut grass still potent to your nose as you tee the ball up for a round of golf in the cool mist of a spring morning. "That is what brings you back every time, the smell of the air, the coolness of the whether and the beautiful surroundings that make every shot enjoyable." (Suess, PI) This is the game of golf in its finest and most exquisite time to many people and many people it has touched in its long history. Golf is a lifestyle and not just games to people that are avid in playing. The game of golf has a history that is rich in technological advances and personal accomplishments, which through time has shown to shape the sport into what it has become today.
After quitting baseball, I began to take up golf - a life long sport I had played with my dad however only recreationally. Not long after, I began my mistake free(sort of) journey with the River Bluff Golf team. Interestingly, during this time of my life, I felt lost but right at home. Furthermore, for the past three years, golf has made me incredibly happy. If I had the choice to go back and re-write my mistakes, I wouldn't - and after time to reflect, I don't believe that makes me insane or stubborn, just an individual who can safely say that he has a favorite
The first thing to look at is your golf mentality, it is both the beauty and the downfall for most people. Whether you have just begun to learn, or are a seasoned veteran, this part is crucial into how you feel about continuing. To start out, I like to breath in the crisp cool air, and do
Also, being able to work with people I already knew made me feel comfortable. As an employee, I got to assist with many golf tournaments and see many elite players that I looked up to as a young golfer. Being around what I loved making working not so bad with a good amount of free time. I was allowed to go out for lunch and still was being paid while I was gone. Work around all adults and tending to them made me realize that age is just a number. I was respected by everyone around even being the youngest. Even with such a great job it had its downsides. Being there all day was not great, but the paycheck was great. Even making tips as well. As a sixteen year old on the financial side I was doing great. Another upside was with the course being private I was allowed to play whenever I want and bring others along. The course is considered this course was one of the elites in the state it was truly a privilege. Then, the summer before my senior year I had arranged plans to start working at the golf course again for the summer months. After granting my boss a phone call telling him when I could start in the summer, he told me that my assistants was no longer needed there, but would call if he needed
There are many things that have molded me into the person I am today such as being born into a family with four children. With three siblings, I have been forced to be able to work out problems from stealing each other’s toys to having to rush to the emergency room to get stiches because my brother chased me around the house and I tripped. My mother, father, brother, and two sisters were all born in Pennsylvania and I am the odd ball and I was born in Adrian, Michigan. From when I was a child I always loved being involved with sports because of my competitive nature. I grew up playing soccer and having success with that but then my love changed and I began playing lacrosse and football. I started playing lacrosse in middle school and played
Golf tourism is spreading rapidly all over the world in places like Asia and Mexico. Although most people who play the sport of golf play because of its interaction with nature, what most golfers do not realize or consider is the damaging environmental impact on the sport. The booming golf trade throughout the world creates a haven for golfers and a nightmare for environmentalists. According to members of the Malaysia-Based Asia-Pacific People’s Environment Network, golf development is becoming one of the most unsustainable and damaging activities to people and the environment (TED Case Studies, 1997).
I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.
