The Amur Leopard is one of the extremely endangered subspecies of leopards. With only 60 left, things aren’t looking sound for them. But why should we however save these leopards? What can we learn from the Amur Leopard? What makes the Amur Leopard beneficial to humans? These are all excellent questions, but to understand why they are of interest, we must understand how the species works.
The scientific name of the Amur leopard is Panthera pardus orientalis. Panthera is a genus with the Felidae family and Partus is latin for leopard. Orientalis means asiatic shrub or tree. It is likely Orientalis is in there because Amur Leopards often like to climb trees. Amur Leopards also have an interesting genetic sequence. (See figure 1 for a picture of the sequence)
The Amur Leopard has many adaptations. One of them is its speed. The Amur Leopard has the ability to run up to 35 mph per hour. This allows the Amur Leopard to travel places much faster. Amur Leopards also are some of the best hunters in the world, due to their color changing fur. The fur they have allows them to blends in with their surroundings. The Amur Leopard can use this form of camouflage to take its prey by surprise. The fur changes colors depending on the season. in the winter, the leopards have white

For example, their bone marrow is used in medicine in China. Also genetic diversity is essential. Without genetic diversity, there will be less adaptations. We can also acquire new knowledge by studying the Amur Leopard’s adaptations, figuring out what makes them the way they are. But we won’t be able to do that if the species goes extinct. The Amur Leopard gives us advantages in many ways, and that is why it is crucial we save it. You can help the Amur Leopard by donating to the WWF organization or even just by bringing awareness to the species. Even just doing something little would help, since the average person doesn’t even know about the Amur
...rupt native species and ecosystem hence making the restoration of both evolutional and ecological potential almost impossible. Whereas Donlan (2005) concluded that re-wilding North American is the best conservation strategy to the African and Asian threatened megafauna, meanwhile re-wilding will restores the evolutionary and ecological potentials in the process. In my point of view, Pleistocene re-wilding must not be implemented simply because the introduced species might fail to adapt to the new environment. High costs and disease outbreak are another challenge that can’t be ignored.
This rare species is worth saving because of variety of factors, this will affect the interconnecting, in other words the regions ecosystem. Additionally, is the people would help of preventing this to happen, this would also help on the biodiversity, and the development. The snow leopard, as one of the most significant predator in the mountains of Central Asia, the Snow Leopard plays a significant role on ecological system, the reason why is because as Prezi, mentioned, this rare species is in control of the populations and health of the wild species it preys on. If the snow leopard is saved it will protect the region, and the over population. The snow board will not only help not having over
When many hear about a lemur, they immediately think of the movie Madagascar and the fun loving role that is played by the lemur King Julien; similarly, when hearing the name Madagascar, many think of the land of the lemurs. However, what would happen if there were no more lemurs? This is a harsh but readily approaching reality of Madagascar today. Lemurs are known as the world’s most endangered mammals, and specifically the Simpona, otherwise known as the Silky Sifaka lemur, is critically endangered. If treatments of Madagascar’s habitat, specificity the small mountainous area of northeastern Madagascar where the Simpona lemur reside, continue being treated as they are today, this will not only lead to the complete extinction of this rare Lemur, but it will also affect the economic standing in Madagascar as a whole. Therefore, it is vital to recognize the solutions and act on them in order to prevent these devastating occurrences.
“Bam bam bam” you hear gun-shots in the forest a person comes out with and endangered Jaguar its face covered in blood you want to help save its species, but you don't know how, but then you ask yourself “Do I want to save this species?” the Florida Panther should be helped and if not goodbye Florida Panther. Should we help wild cats? So many species of wild cats are endangered like the cheetah and the Back Jaguar, Tigers snow leopards, and lions are all on the endangered list. We need to help them because if there numbers drop to zero there won't be anymore wild cats. Can you imagine a world without cheetahs? Like in Asia the wild cats Asiatic cheetahs, Amur leopards, Sunda clouded leopards, clouded leopards, Asiatic lions, snow leopards and tigers are all endangered.
The overall body size and coloration of the cat often relates to its location - jaguars found in dense forested areas of the Amazon Basin are often only half the size of those found in more open terrain and it has been suggested that this can be related to the more frequent occurrence of larger prey species found in open terrain . Coloration of dense forest dwelling jaguars is often darker than those found in grassland and scrub forest - here, as with the darker coloration of rainforest leopards, the darker coats give better camouflage in the low light condition on the forest floor and offers the dark coated cat greater success in hunting and a greater chance of survival.
Both the snow leopard and the green turtle are classified as endangered under the IUCN red list with decreasing population trends. Both live in very different habita...
This cat is a powerful jumper and climber, also capable of running at high speeds. The paws of the Siberian tiger are equipped with long, sharp, dagger-like retractable claws.
The white tiger is one of the biggest in the cat family. The white tiger is long it can grow up to 3.3 meters long and weigh as much as 300 kilograms hard to carry. Subspecies of the white tiger like Sumatran Tiger, Amur(or Siberian) Tiger, Indian (or Bengal) tiger, south china tiger, malayan tiger,indo-chinese tiger, bali tiger, javan tiger, caspian tiger thats extinct theres nine subspecies of the white tiger.A lot of subspecies are endangered or extinct because people hunt them for their fur to make jackets or sweaters and destroying their habitat. Some tiger cubs don’t live to be an adult because around half of the cubs die around 2-3 years of age.The cubs leave their mother at around 2 years old they live a long time because their mom taught them what they would know from eating to hiding from people.A group of tigers is called ambush or streak because the group may be hunting. You probably thought these tigers can’t swim because they are in the cat family but if you do you are wrong because ...
The Leopard is one of the five basic fighting styles. The Leopard is strong against the Dragon fighting style. It is weak against the Snake fighting style. The leopard is an offensive animal, so it is based off an offensive attacking style. The Leopard uses fast unceasing attacks and a nonstop rapid-fire barrage. The Leopard uses multiple hits at one time to defeat an opponent rather the one big hit so if the attacker misses one hit it is not important to the outcome. It uses the sum of multiple hits to beat an opponent rather than a few powerful hits.
The symbol of the leopard was present in this plaque; a symbol that is explored in throughout the West Africa film, thus showing the importance of the symbol in the culture of the people of Benin. In the plaque, there is an Oba holding two leopards, which was an image that was explored in the film. In the film, the symbols were decoded for the culture of the Dogon people; In the Dogon context, the leopard represented the clan of one man, and if a leopard was harmed, it would translate to detriment upon his family. It could be probable that because the Dogon and the people of Benin had similar functions for the symbol of the snake, that the function of the leopard symbol in the culture of Benin could be parallel to that of the leopard symbol in the culture of Dogon. Even more importantly, in the West Africa film, the Oba was seen in the center of the city with a leopard by his side, thus reinforcing the idea that leopards were of importance in Benin’s culture.
The cheetah is known as a very interesting animal for many reasons. One of the prime examples of why so many people believe the cheetah is such an amazing animal is because of the speed it contains. For example, the cheetah can accelerate to speeds of over sixty miles per hour in a matter of three seconds, which is in fact, faster than some cars.(Cheetah facts, about cheetahs 1). Believe it or not, sixty miles per hour isn’t the fastest a cheetah can run! The fastest recorded time for a cheetah’s running speed was seventy five miles per hour while using their tails to steer. (Murray 1) (One Kind, Cheetahs 1). For example, cheetahs can turn in midair when they’re at a full sprint, which is pretty amazing. (One Kind, Cheetahs 1). Another reason the cheetah is such an incredible animal to observe is their hunting ability. Cheetahs are often predators in the wild, which means they hunt other
If more people are aware of new animals on the endangered species list, there is more of a chance that researchers will get more funds. Zoos also create habitats for animals on the verge of extinction where otherwise there would be none. There is some controversy between zoos and endangered species. Because of the limited gene pool of a species, the variation is greatly limited. This will –as an end result- lead to inbreeding which will create mutations and defects in the offspring.
The Leopard had great variation in appearance and behavior. It is also the widest distributed of all the world’s wildcats. It’s coat color can vary from a pale yellow, to gold or a tawny color. It’s head and limbs and stomach are spotted with solid black blotches. Coat color and patterning are associated with it’s habitat.
