Depression's Denotative Analysis

Depression’s denotative meaning is: the state of being depressed. When an individual is depressed they experience strong feelings of sadness, lack of motivation, and maybe even losing the will to continue life. People experiencing depression feel extremely burdened and wish the pain would go away. Most clinical definitions say that depression is temporary. I believe if an individual slips into a slope long enough, it may become a life style and forever change them as a person. Rather a person is temporally depressed or makes depression their life, these torturous moments will forever change the way they view life. Every person has a specific level of tolerance for unfortunate events. Once an individual has surpassed their limit they slip into a depressed state. Self-esteem is a crucial deciding factor when trying to determine a person’s level of tolerance. People who carry themselves properly, who are loved by those around them, and who tend to avoid bad decisions maintain high self-esteem. …show more content…

A mild easy going person is more difficult to figure out than a boisterous person who wears their colors on their sleeves. People who are more outgoing tend to display stronger feelings of sadness. Extroverts slipping into depression may retreat back into their shell. They may display a mix of goth and introvert type qualities, such as: wearing dark less exciting colors, not being as out going, and they may lead you to worry by saying things that are way out of their character. While the more reserved introvert is not as easy to read. The introvert already is quiet and doesn’t tend to wear their colors on their sleeve. They were never the type to step into the spotlight, talk to people, or show much emotion if any. So when they slip into a depression it is much harder to tell.
