Samantha Vidal Period 2 Mr. Cobian December 5, 2017 PROBLEM A problem is a matter or situation regarded as unwelcome or harmful and needing to be dealt with and overcome. The problem here is that artists are not being paid for their hard work or them being paid in exposure, which leads to artists barely being able to survive on their own because there is almost no one willing to pay them for their hard work. Being paid in exposure means, for example, in an article written by Susie Pearl, she states a local store has put up an ad that asks for an artist to paint on their store for more customers, and the only thing the artist would get out of it is for other people to see their work and hope someone else would be willing to hire and pay the …show more content…
There are independent variables and dependent variables. Independent variables are variables that are changed or controlled in an experiment to test the effects on the dependent variable. Dependent variables are variables that are being tested and measured in an experiment. They may be viewed in terms of “cause and effect”. If the independent variable is changed, then an effect is seen in the dependent variable. In this case, the independent variable would be the people who are (or not) willing to pay the artist because these people can change or control if they are willing to pay or not to pay the artist. The dependent variable in this case are the artists because they are dependent on people paying them for their work and will change/ be effected, as in survive and have enough money or be low on money and not being able to survive, depending on what the independent variable …show more content…
The simple solution is either just simply pay the artist if you want them to do any work for you, or do not ask for free art unless they are willing to work for free. So if people would pay with money instead of exposure when they want something done from the artist, the artist would be able to survive while doing what they love and would also be able to afford art supplies to practice even more and get better at it so other people would want to pay
Independent variables There are many independent variables (which can also be called the manipulated variable- the variable that is varied in the investigation), but I will only vary two of them: the height the ball is dropped, The surface material the ball is dropped on will also be changed. Other variables that could be changed are: -mass of ball -air resistance (this may occur when the ball is dropped from greater heights) -ball material -gradient of surface -size of ball -kind of ball -ball density Dependent variables The dependent or responding variable is the variable that occurs due to factors that are changed in the independent or manipulated variables. If the independent variable is changed, this would affect the dependent variable.
Art theft, the most stereotypical theft that is looked upon. People think that it’s a joke or something for the movies, it is ignored. “The international police agency reckons that the amount of money changing hands in the art underworld comes to between 4$ billion and 9$ billion.”(Dolnick 11) Edward Dolnick, writer of The Rescue Artist, believes that this ignorance is more than just ridiculous. He proves that this do...
Experimental research is the one type of research that allows psychologists to make causal statements. It is where the researcher changes one or more variables that may have an effect on some other variables (King, 2016). The hypothesis is a specific expectation about what is going to happen in the experiment (King, 2016). In the research, the hypothesis was that women would perceive fat talk to be more socially acceptable than men (Katrevich et al., 2014). The other elements of experimental method are dependent and independent variables. The independent variable (IV) is the cause of the results, and it is changed by the experimenter to find the effects, but the dependent vari...
Despite the long history of African American art, many black artists in contemporary society still have a difficult time getting their art viewed or accepted by the masses. Society, in general, tends to look at African art as ethnic, trivial, simple, folk art, perhaps even collectable, but not worthy of true in-depth exploration of fine art accreditation. However, Laurie Cooper and Lorna Simpson disrupt these perceptions in their art.
The dependent variable that will be measured is the height at which the ball bounces back. The control variables that will need to be kept constant if the results are to be as accurate as possible are. 1. What is the difference between a. and a. The weight of the ball; we will use the same ball throughout the experiment to ensure that the results are as accurate as possible.
Graffiti shows creativity and self expression in one of the best ways. Typically graffiti artists display their artistic talent on train cars, buildings, and public/private properties. The vibrancy of the colors used draws in people nearby to look at the astounding creativity. Although this is true for a shocking amount of people, the same can’t be said for the owners of the properties. This illicit art has a negative effect on the owners. This is also true for some people who just happen to walk by this art, even policemen or businessmen who think this beautiful self expression is an unacceptable eyesore. The artists who have been caught have been penalized and shamed for their creativity. Their mentality has been destroyed and they have been labeled as public nuisances. Meanwhile, the opposing side can sit at home and feel satisfied as ever for catching
The Twilight Zone aired an episode in 1960 called The Four of Us Are Dying. The episode follows a con man capable of changing his appearance by merely looking at the person he wants to become. His whole life he has slipped by, without a conscience, using his ‘talent’ to mold into other established people’s lives. He takes advantage of his ability and finds ways to rob his victims of their identities, fame, and personal acquaintances. In today’s pop culture, especially pop music, this flagrant disrespect for culture and counterfeiting of style are diminishing the credibility of many popular artists. Similar to the man in The Twilight Zone episode, there are artists in the spotlight today that need to be reconsidered for their ‘unique’ styles.
therefore a quicker reaction. b) Dependent variable is the variable that is measured. In my investigation of the dependent variable is. Volume of oxygen gas produced over a period of one minute. Variables that I keep constant are: Temperature – the rate of reaction depends on the temperature.
Independent variable (pg. 39) – a type of variable that is controlled by the experimenter, and comes before the dependent variable. An example of an independent variable in a study would be the amount of time played by a college football player.
With whom students’ lived – any family members whom students’ identified as living at home with them. Operational Definition for Dependent Variables 1. Perception of themselves as leaders – students believe that they are and/or have been leaders. 2. Perception or their belief that others see them as leaders – campus administrators, teachers, parents, and/or their friends see students as leaders.
One artist in PPP said it best when he said “you just can’t avoid limitations I guess.” This statement summarizes the constant limitations that artists have faced throughout history when trying to get their work noticed in popular culture. One important way that artists have gotten their work noticed is by gathering different “fragments of culture” and recombining them to make quality art. In other words, Plagiarism is the key for artists to overcome constant limitations in the creative industry.
Independent variables: The temperature of hcl gas will be decreased and increased throughout the experiment.
Those who argue that street art is nothing more than graffiti that violates personal property do not characterize it as a valuable art form. These critics argue that some places cannot afford to keep the property clean; if it gets really bad, the whole building will have to be painted, and that is expensive (O’Lear). Unwanted artwork will cause economic problems with removing the art from illegally used canvases such as building, billboards, and sidewalks. Critics also uphold that there are numerous outlets that people could use that are more tasteful and less destructive. (O’Lear). Turkey Stremmel, the co-owner of Stremmel Gallery, suggests that there are other ways to create the murals artists plaster on street surfaces. Artis...

On some occasions Nazi officials would order art simply for their own enjoyment or for special occasions. This art was monitored closely by the Nazi government. Government-controlled art workshops existed in the ghettos. In the camps, those with artistic skills were surprisingly given a place. Those in the camps who were previously known for being artists and those caught creating art were often punished, but sometimes were “given particular duties for the pleasure of the Kommandant and his staff.” (13) Artists of all kind were sent into the camps, from cartoonists to costume designers. Art for bartering existed in the camps as well, such as an artist in the camp would offer their art to a guard in exchange for an extra morsel of food or for more art supplies. A chapter is dedicated to clandestine art: art made in secret in the camps and hidden and the lengths the artists went to to keep their art hidden, a remarkable feat considering the conditions. The following chapters are dedicated to the unearthing of this hidden art in the time following the closure of the
