He is a person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life." In addition, I believe a hero is one to be looked up to and emulated. What is interesting about epic heroes is that their great deeds and exploits all have to do with defeating themselves, so with help from the gods they can truly become heroic. They can only defeat themselves with the help of the gods.

Alexander the Great is great because of his remarkable achievement which helped to create a long lasting legacy. Alexander started to build his empire in 334 BCE after taking the new role as the king. It only took eleven years to build an empire that was large and lasted several years. In addition, the empire Alexander created stretched over 2,200,000 square miles becoming bigger than the United States (Alexander’s Empire Doc. A) (Alexander’s Legacy Doc, E). This proves that Alexander the Great is great because although the process was eleven long years to make a strong empire, Alexander wasn’t willing to give up and

A hero in mythology and legend is a man often of divine ancestry, who is endowed with great courage and strength, celebrated for bold exploits, and favored by the gods. Whether or not Alexander was “great” or not “great” has been a question debated throughout history. Alexander the Great lived from 356 to 323 B.C. As the King of Greece, he conquered much of Asia and Europe. In order to be great, one needs to be disciplined, care for others, and be intelligent. By these standards, Alexander was great because he was disciplined and persevered, he cared about his followers, and he had strong military tactics.
Alexander the Great established the largest empire of his time. He encouraged the spread of Greek culture throughout his empire, becoming the basis for the Hellenistic Age following his death. Despite his military strength, does Alexander deserve to be called ‘Great?’ While Hammond believes that Alexander should be called ‘Great’, Worthington has stronger evidence to support his claim that Alexander does not deserve the title ‘Great.’
Greatness can be defined in many ways. Some scholars today define it by a particular person’s ability to better other human beings lives while others would define it by the magnitude of their personal achievements. No matter how greatness is defined Alexander fulfills both definitions. Alexander the Great truly earned his title both by performing seemingly impossible military feats and his ability to bring about economic prosperity to everyone is his great empire. He was able to build the greatest empire that the world has ever seen. Although he lived a short life, he lived one full of seemingly impossible accomplishments. Countless historians and other scholars believe Alexander the Great really was great. Although, a number of historians think the exact opposite. There is a great deal of evidence to support both thoughts. I firmly believe that Alexander was in fact, great. He deserves the title. To begin with, Alexander was well educated as a child. From a young age, he was well-purposed and remarkably observant. In fact, he was able to train a horse no other man could. Alexander used his observant manner to do so. At the ripe age of sixteen Alexander managed to defeat Maedi while his father was away taking care of important business. He was actually the first to charge Thebans' band in the Battle of Chaeronea. At the youthful age of 20, Alexander became King.
Alexander the great was great. He conquered many areas for his people and provided for them, and built the areas that he had conquered into well developed cities. One of the big reasons that made him great was that his people and many other people had respected him.
America is considered the greatest country on earth, mostly by other americans ironically; why do we say this? Is it because we have the best military and our GDP is the highest on earth the highest? What is the reason we are so great and what lead people to think this?
There are too many words to count that describe ¨America.¨ America is the home of brave men and women who will go through the worst and most unbearable things just to keep this country and its people safe. These men and women don't just fight for the people they fight for freedom for the people and for the citizens of foreign countries. The leaders and people of America need perseverance to keep on fighting and leading this country for the greater of mankind. One of my favorite quotes/ mottos of all time is Semper Fidelis which means always faithful. America isn't just some land that a bunch of dead people settled. It is the home and safe haven for millions of people and that is why we are so protective and strong.
In my opinion, yes, America is an exceptional place to reside. We can count on our military and the Department of Homeland Security to keep us safe, we have companies that are willing to motivate and encourage people to believe in themselves, we have great teachers who ensure that the younger generation can make something of themselves if they choose to, the list could go on. But who is to say that other countries don’t have those things as well, if not others that America is lacking. Sometimes we stumble and fall, but we get back up the best way we know how and we try to learn from our mistakes. Every country has their positives and every country has things that need to be improved, but there is something unique and different about each and every country that can make that country be considered exceptional. I wouldn’t say that America isn’t modest, I would say that American’s take pride in the country they reside
