Deborah Harrell is a hardworking mother who works at McDonald's but left her nine year old daughter alone at the park. She was taken to custody, some might think this is unlawful others might think it is lawful. In this article “A Tale of Two Summers For Parents” written by Belinda Luscombe argues that Deborah Harrell did nothing wrong. I have to disagree with Luscombe, Deborah Harrell left her daughter in the park for several hours and that is just unacceptable. I understand why Harrell had to do it but that doesn’t change the fact that she left her daughter alone and she was very lucky nothing horrible had happened to her daughter. Luscombe is a journalist, she has a good job that pays her good and can afford to take her children at a …show more content…
“... Shanesha Taylor, who left her two toddlers in a hot Arizona car for more than an hour, were dropped” said Luscombe. That is child abuse, it’s Arizona of course it’s gonna be hot as hell and she left her toddlers while she was having a job interviewed. How is that even acceptable, there has been many incidents where toddlers even babies have died for been in the car during a strong heat wave. It is legal know to break a window when you see a dog trap in the car on a hot day because that is animal abuse! So why Shanesha Taylor getting off easily, this probably was her first time getting caught but she has probably left her toddlers in the car multiple times. I stand against it, I know she was trying to get a job so she can feed he family but she doesn't know how lucky she is that her children survived in the hot car. Elementary-school-age children should definitely be required to have adult supervision. They are kids, they still haven’t matured we can’t give them full trust they have to earn it. I know time are tough but there is many ways you can leave your child at a safe place with a person you can trust. While Belinda Luscombe doesn’t know where her thiteen year old daughter is because she is okay with it, she will be at McDonalds ordering dinner so in other words she is been a lousy mother to be
It angered me so much. I don't understand how her mother could leave her newborn child in the care of a young child. A child who can barely take care of herself and now has to take care of an infant. The first time she was left alone
During the court case the judge said that lead social worker Gunn Wahlstrom was “naïve beyond belief”. This report brought over 68 recommendations to make sure cases like this did not happen again. The recommendations included putting the child first and the parent’s second. “Jasmines’ fate illustrates all too clearly the disastrous consequences of the misguides attitude of the social workers having treated Morris Beckford and Beverley Lorrington as the clients first and foremost” (London Borough of Brent, 1985,p295). The social workers in Jasmine’s c...
At a birds eye glance into the film Au Revoir Les Enfants, it is seen to be within the world war 2 ridden time period of 1944. Further more, the film follows Louis Malle's recounts of his childhood memories, while staying at a Roman Catholic boarding school. The memories explicated though the directors lens, are rather somber and lethargic. For instance, the scene shown between the main characters, Julien Quentin and Jean Bonnet in the eery and desolate woods of Fontainebleau show the harsh cold and foggy elements that cloud sunlight and liberation, and place a perpetual dreary and dark winter. Thus effecting the actions and moods of the children and teachers of the school. Specifically, the war and winter vastly
The article is about a four years old boy who was starved to death by his mother and was left in his cot for two years. She was found accountable for killing him and was given 12 years for killing him and three years for child cruelty, as shown in the (Pidd,2013) newspaper article. A key point is how a child can be treated in an awful way, especially by his mother. As Paul Greaney says “How can a child starve to death in 21st century England?” (Pidd, 2013)
Journalist, Jane Howard in her argumentative essay, “ In Search of a Good Family “ emphasized the markers of a good family. Howard's purpose is to give her opinion on families, because she thinks human being should not be alone. She adopts an educated, factual and knowledgeable time in order to appeal to similar feelings and experiences towards the whole country. Howard uses many rhetorical question, metaphors , repetition, and allusions to help her pull her argument together Howard argues how essential is to have a good family. All human being need a family , clan or a tribe in order to survive in the real world. No matter where you are or what are the circumstances you are going through. You would always have somewhere or someone to fall back to.
A situation that would have had clear legal repercussions had these children been living a normal life. Not only was this situation scarring to Jeanette but her bother and sister watched as she was flung from the car and was left behind. Again, research shows that this type of trauma would be absolutely terrifying. Anyone who was witness to this would have suffered long-term side effects of the abuse and neglect.
Have you ever thought what can cause a significant change in someone’s life? In the story “An American Childhood” the author notice that her parents do not have an interest in what she is doing so she developed her own interest. In paragraph 12 the author states “I had essentially been handed my own life.In subsequent years my parents would praise my drawings, poems and supplies.” the author was stating she had to do stuff by herself.

The sympathy of the government for mothers such as Khaila, trying to recover their parental rights has worn thin. Child abandonment is a serious offense and the children that suffer from such neglect face many psychological problems; if they are ever able to survive their circumstances. The abandonment and neglect of a child can result in serious criminal charges. One striking example is the case of seven month old Daniel Scott (Should We Take Away Their Kids?). Baby Daniel had been left for hours unattended and died of in a pool of his own blood. His mother, a crack addict left him in the care of his father to go on a six day crack binge. His father in turn, left him in his crib leaving the door of their Bronx tenement unlocked for any danger to afflict his unprotected son (Should We Take Away Their Kids?). The parents were later charged with manslaughter by negligence.
According to me every parent wants the best for his or her child. One of the most effective ways to protect your child is to make sure
...pect people that are older than them period. And the adults need to also realize that just because they are older doesn’t mean that they can talk to you any kind of way and expect you not to get an attitude. Social workers need to also realize that they don’t need to overstep their boundaries they can only do so much but I feel like they can overstep their boundaries because they’re trying to help your child and save their life and make sure that they have a good life.
Munro (2003) states child abuse is treating a child in a way that is harmful or morally wrong however, goes on to explain it is hard to find a universal agreement of the definition of child abuse. NSPCC (2010) further explains child abuse as maltreatment of a child. This can be done directly by inflicting harm or indirectly by failing to prevent harm from happening. Abuse can be perpetrated by an adult or another child. Working Together to Safeguard Children (2013) states that it’s the responsibility of everyone who works with children to make sure that a child is safeguarded and their welfare promoted. The Purpose of this essay is firstly to discuss risk factors posed to Simone and Sasha through the scenario provided and highlight ways a professional should assess whether a child is suffering from an abusive or neglectful situation. Secondly the appropriate action that needs to be taken, and the support that needs to be given, and what services will be involved with the family in order to prevent a family brake down while safeguarding and protecting the children’s welfare, will also be discussed. Lastly this essay will draw on current legislation, guidance and procedures that promote multi– agency working in order to effectively safeguard and promote children’s welfare.
She was working, like many other minimum wage jobs, in harsh and dangerous conditions because her employer did not care about her safety. I would feel worn out and concerned for my safety if I had to constantly worry about grease burns or heat strokes, or whatever the case might be. This is a double standard that annoys Tirado. An example of this is, “It turns out that whether sleeping on a public bench is a crime or not depends entirely on whether you have enough money to look like you have a place to sleep.”
Parenting causes a large impact in the upbringing of a child. Many cultures and different families believe in different disciplining styles, and each different kind of parenting style influences the child’s future. Although there are millions of families and each has their unique ways of raising their children, the different parenting styles can be classified into 4 major categories. According to research conducted by psychologist Diana Baumrind in the late 1960’s, the major discipline styles are Authoritative, Authoritarian, and Permissive (1967). Later on, a fourth parenting style, Uninvolved parenting, was added.
