I think this book Dear Shameless death, By tekin Lethin, is written to show what it's like to live in a culture where feminism doesn’t exist. In the passage, Atiye has been brought to the village and is looked by all the villagers as odd. The author will demonstrate how she will learn how to be a good women and follow her husbands orders. In the begin of the book dear shameless death, Atiye, has her first child and is encounter by the first saint of the reading. Atiye experience a visit from Hizir Aleyhisselan. Hizir Aleyhisselan comes to her while she is locked in a stable during her nine month pregnancy. the birth of her child she is visited by Akkain,. This white women comes in and cleans the baby that later would be named Nugber.
The book cites”At that moment, Hızır Aleyhisselam came to the baby’s rescue, this time sending Akkadın, White Woman, in his place...she prayed as she daubed the infant’s cheek with two fingers dipped in blood. Then she departed, never to be seen in this world again. “(Tekin, Latife (2014-01-04). Dear Shameless Death (Kindle Locations 267-268). Marion Boyars. Kindle Edition. ”) With this passage I believe the author is saying that women are meant to do what the men say. Women must go in do there job quickly and leave quietly if you want to be as perfect as an angel. Anyone could easily interpreter this as having an angel sent from god to protect the good. Because Hızır Aleyhisselam was a saintly and a man and not a human he was unable to help Nugber. He was able to send a female human angle“ the white women “ to help Atiye when the baby was born. Sending a women white women who looked like Atiye who was also white was so she would know that she would not get treat the same way the villagers had treated by her. Akkain was also there to give her courage and set an example to her that that she too could be strong as an angle and to let her know hat she was not alone anymore. Even though
she didn't have any family or friends near who knew that she was expecting a child, she was being taken care of by a higher power and would not be left alone. This passage could be interrupted as a lesson to children or young adults that its important to have faith in something because with that it could over help you over come tough situations. And it also gives a feeling that you won't be left alone when you are with god. The “white women” came in at the perfect timing and left with no trace left behind. Leaving without saying a world is demonstrating that women who live in an unfemistiic must be quick about there work and be silent when they leave. This is the in a sense is key to being a perfect women. This physical appearance from Akkain was a religious coinsurance for Atiye. With Atiye also being locked in a stable and the birth of her baby was happening the same way her Jesus was born in. I think with this familiar occurrence the author is saying this story is one of a kind and that will only occur once in a life time meaning that all life events occurs only once and should be take advantage of. All of the villagers who thought Atyie was possessed by the djinn and shut her up in the stable represented all the trouble that she will later have in her life. Having a white women angle sent to her for her aid was to show that she was just like her and to demonstrate to her that she too could be strong as an angle. Having the goat ram her during her pregnancy showed that she will have pain during labor.

...“A war-maker” “A ruler” From this the reader learns that there has been a distinct split between men and women since the beginning of time. It is interesting that Alette is hearing this information from a headless woman. (Notley 91) The woman being headless symbolizes women being praised for their bodies, sexuality, or feminity not for their brains or education. The headless woman says, “my body” “still danced then-” “but my head” “played audience” “to the achievements” “of males” (Notley 91)

Feminism is a word that is stock-full of implications, and has many misconceptions. Full Frontal Feminism by Jessica Valenti attempts to give a broad overview of what feminism is, and how you should feel about it (hint: it’s positively). The book is directed primarily towards the younger generation, and talks about a variety of issues relevant to the feminist movement today and in history. The weaknesses of the book include the casual writing, the assumptions Valenti makes, and the contradictory statements that are consistently made. The strengths include providing an entertaining, broad overview of feminism, and discussing ways to contribute to gender equality. Overall, the book is more likely to be a positive experience for high-schoolers that identify as women then college-aged individuals looking for a critical analysis of issues society faces in regards to gender inequality.
...ation" shows, as do the houses of assignation, she is a woman driven by her own thoughts and passions, the embodiment of a spirit that while criticized will not be broken. She is a sexual being, independent and unique, and she hints at the hope of society respecting her as such.

To understand feminism in the novel, one must first understand the feminist lens itself. OWL Purdue describes the lens as “the ways in which literature (and other cultural productions) reinforce or undermine the economic, political, social, and psychological oppression of women” (Purdue). Feminism acts as both a commitment and a political movement that wants to end sexism in all forms. Most feminists generally disagree on many topics of the subject, however all have one common goal. These aspects affect The Things They Carry in a plethora of ways, mostly due to the fact that gender roles is a main theme. There are negative and positive aspects of the feminist lens. Positive contains the empowering of women and equality, whereas negative pertains to oppression and unequal rights. Both are covered in The Things They Carried from sex symbols to battle tor...
The biggest irony of this book is not that the women described here fail, or remain at the bottom--sex discrimination within societal structure has already been doing that since the beginning of time. The most
The feminist theory is the extension of feminism into theoretical, fictional, or philosophical discourse. The purpose of the feminist theory is to understand the nature of gender inequality by examining women’s social roles and lived experiences. It is important to keep in mind there are different and diverse branches of the feminist theory (ecofeminism, marxist, material, radical, etc). It is also important to keep in mind that feminism strives for equal treatment between sexes, it does not mean female superiority over men. Ruth L. Ozeki uses stereotypes and shows how the characters overcome their struggles which can be scrutinized through the lens of cultural and liberal feminism. Cultural feminism is a variety of feminism, which emphasizes essential differences between men and women, based on biological differences in reproductive capacity. On the other hand, the primary focus of liberal feminism is individual autonomy, rights, liberty, independence, and diversity. In My Year of Meats, Ozeki shows that gender equality can be perceived and achieved differently, both through the characters and the lenses of the feminist theory.
Feminism has been an on-going issue through many years and continues to be an issue to this day. The Yellow Wallpaper demonstrates feminism through the rest cure. This story is authoritative and has integrity (St. Jean 397). There is a magazine text which hides the sexual/political struggle that the narrator and the husband are going through. St. Jean wrote a feminism and textual studies article and within it he brings up other stories that demonstrate feminism as well. The Story of an Hour has a shocking ending to it and come to find out the old lady dies and the husbands still alive, which brings the question why would the man survive but the women die? (407). The author of The Yellow Wallpaper doesn’t publicly announce any specific interpretation of the story through her lifetime, so if no one knows for sure that this story is something she’s actually gone through in her actual lifetime. Feminism was an issue back when this story was written and it is still an issue in today’s society. Today though yes there is more equality in males and females the female still gets the “heavier” side of the responsibilities with the children. Mothers go to work all day and as soon as they get home their duties don’t end because they have a child to take care of. In the story though, it never says but the father must be taking care of the child if the mother isn’t allowed to do anything, not even write in journal. If she can’t write in a journal then she must not be able to take care of a child either, she needs to rest her body and go through the healing
Although she got pregnant by someone other than her husband they did not look at the good and joyful moments the child could bring. Having a baby can be stressful, especially being that the village was not doing so great. The baby could have brought guilt, anger, depression, and loneliness to the aunt, family, and village lifestyle because having a baby from someone other than your husband was a disgrace to the village, based on the orientalism of women. Society expected the women to do certain things in the village and to behave a particular way. The author suggests that if her aunt got raped and the rapist was not different from her husband by exploiting "The other man was not, after all, much different from her husband. They both gave orders; she followed. ‘If you tell your family, I 'll beat you. I 'll kill you. Be, here again, next week." In her first version of the story, she says her aunt was a rape victim because "women in the old China did not choose with who they had sex with." She vilifies not only the rapist but all the village men because, she asserts, they victimized women as a rule. The Chinese culture erred the aunt because of her keeping silent, but her fear had to constant and inescapable. This made matters worse because the village was very small and the rapist could have been someone who the aunt dealt with on a daily basis. Maxine suggests that "he may have been a vendor
For hundreds of years, women are fighting a war of inequality in the male dominated society. Heather Savigny addressed a very important question in her article, what is Feminism? By definition, “Feminism” is a moment started by women to end inequality in all fields of society. Women in the society started this protest to gain rights that were deprived by the males in the society. A feminist can be a normal person who fights against the discrimination on based on sex, age and gender. The feminist movement is very important in our society, to protect women for sexual harassment and violence. To fight this problem, and to find a possible way to end it, many great writers wrote very influential poems and stories. A very few writers who chose to
Women and men fear the thought of an empowered woman and the thought of feminism. Women fear that will be punished by men if they stand against them and fear that being a feminist will make them cruel and lonely. Men fear that women will one day rise and surpass them. But it is with these women that great change can come. Being a feminist does not require a person to hate men nor does it isolate a person from the rest of the world. In both texts we witnessed that there are people who reinforce conventional views of gender roles and those who challenge them. The life is a feminist is challenging but much more rewarding at the same time.
Feminism Past and Present: Ideology, Action, and Reform by Camille Paglia details the realm of feminism throughout the progression of time. It touches on topics such as women in politics, the history of feminism, and the sexist aspect of feminism. However, most importantly is the discussion of feminism in oppressive societies which I believe is a significant topic that needed to be probed. Feminism in oppressed societies is a relevant topic that continues to be relevant today. It will continue to be prevalent until something great happens and someone comes forward to raise awareness.
The Feminism, as a term, has many aspects; it is not devoted to literature only. The cultural feminism is one of those aspects which celebrates the woman culture and claims for its analysis. It defends the traditionally ascribed traits to woman such as subjectivity, compassion, closeness to other and reliance on others. The cultural feminists argue for the existence of female institutions as well as the male's. In 1974 Adrienne Rich called for...
