My critical response paper will be on the video “Dear daddy”. This video was based on the violence projected onto women throughout their lifetime. The five minute video clip is filmed from the perspective of an unborn girl as she faces difficulties being born a female. The video is targeted towards fathers and would-be fathers everywhere, urging them to help protect their daughters by showing zero tolerance to rape and rape culture. This narrated film lists all of the horrific experiences the daughters of many may face throughout their life at the hands of men. By 14 she will have already been called a "bitch" or a "whore" by her male classmates; by 16 she will have already been groped or pressured into sex by a boy while she is steaming drunk; by 21 she may have been raped; and later in life she may end up in an abusive relationship that puts her life at risk. The video does not imply that a boy who calls a girl a "bitch" will end up a rapist, but as the girl explains: "One thing always leads to another, so please stop it before it gets the chance to begin." The video ends with the powerful line: "I will be born a girl, please do everything you can so that won't be the greatest danger of all" …show more content…

We must urge young boys to treat girls with the same respect they would their sisters, and men to love their wives as they would their mothers. Although, putting an end to violence against women requires much more than that, we need the mobilization of all actors in society: politicians, public authorities, the education system, individuals in society, organizations, civic and religious leaders, etc. in order to see a real change. It is the responsibility of each and every single one of us to stop the violence against women. Protecting our women in society shouldn't be looked as a luxury afforded to them, it is their human right to feel safe and
