Art is more diverse than language because it gives everyone the authority to feel the work in their own unique way. David Hockney’s successful career is one that is well deserved. While his profession has taken many turns, he has stayed true to his own unique techniques. The photographs are taken from different perspectives and at slightly different times, resulting in a work that has an affinity to Cubism. Cubism suggest constant change and evolution. Cubism allows ambiguities between representation and abstraction. His creation of ‘joiners’ was accidental. While working on a painting of an LA living rooms, he took a series of photos for his own reference, and placed them together so he would be able to paint from the images.
