David Beckham is the one sports star, who not only is a phenominal player, but is probably the most famous sports icon outside just soccer. It is definetely harder to find someone that has not heard of David Beckham, than someone who has. People occasionaly wonder, however; "Why Beckham? Why is he so famous?" The answer might not be very simple, but maybe it is the combination of a great shot, a fantastic cross, his own Adidas shoe, his changing hair-style, his modeling career, his marriage to the Spice Girl Victoria Beckham (formerly Adams), his big mistake against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup, his England capitancy and him having belonged to the two largest teams in history that make him so popular among the crowd. When one reads David Beckham's autobiography, David Beckham My Side, something that is surely visible and clear, is his igoistic thoughts and life-style.

Since he could stand up, he was already kicking a ball with his hero, his father, before, during and after Ted's practice. David was always eager to come to see his father train, and learn from him. In the book, his mother, Sandra, is found saying "It wa...

He uses phrases such as, “Compared with Hugh’s, my childhood was unspeakably dull” and, “When I’m told such stories, it’s all I can do to hold back my feelings of jealousy.” (P. 227). He goes on and on about how Hugh has everything that he’s ever wanted until the end of the essay; where David sees himself as Hugh kind of. There’s some humor to this essay as well.
... Uncle Frank. Then I got out and watched him go down the tracks. He was going toward town…”. He chooses to tell his parents what he knows, or at least part of what he knows, about Uncle Frank. This shows that he is developing in the area of honesty. Before, David would have kept all this to himself, rather than face his parents with knowledge he knows will displease them.

Soccer is still the world?s most beloved sport, and will continue to be the number one sport for generations to come. However, North America is never bound to join this band wagon because we simply find the sport dull. The fake injuries, scoreless games, and long game lengths disappoint the majority of North America, whom would much rather watch other exciting sports. Because of lacking a long-time tradition, excitement during matches, and good opportunities for big time television networks to broadcast the games, the real football fails to succeed as the superior sport in North America. Paying $250 million dollars to David Beckham won?t do any good in promoting soccer across North America. ?Football? will continue to be less than a second thought, so long as we have these other terrific sports at hand.
“ They tell me that all men are created equal in the eyes of god but this man seriously makes you think about those words,” is how an entertaining soccer commentator, Ray Hudson described Lionel Messi’s outstanding performance on the pitch. In the book Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell, Gladwell demonstrates that there are extraordinary circumstances and external factors that allows a person to become successful in life as an outlier. Despite Messi’s contradicting physical appearance, standing 5 foot and 7 inches tall as a record breaking soccer phenomenal, he is most definitely an outlier who shook the history of soccer. Many Believe that Lionel Messi was not a natural born talented player but external factors and the opportunities he was given allowed him to become a player who is arguably the best player to every play in history of soccer.
Nick Carraway is the only character worth knowing in The Great Gatsby. He is living in East Egg with the rich and powerful people. He is on the guest lists to all of their parties and yet he is the person most worthy of attending such parties because he is well bread and his family is certainly not poor. “Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.” (Ch1, P1). These words were taught to Nick by his father showing the qualities that a man with goals and values would have in a place where goals and values was no existent. His Judgmental eye for character and guts of using them when desired makes him more interesting. He has a greatest fear that he will be all alone by himself.
The time had come for the colonist to decide if they would be loyal to the crown or fight for independence to become an independent nation. The Boston Tea Party had stirred unrest against the laws imposed by England and support from the other colonies for the demonstration of resistance against the Crown. The First Continental Congress had met and decided to outlaw the buying of British goods, proclaiming it a punishable offense for breaking the declaration. It was now Virginias turn to decide to join the other colonies and take up arms against the British or take a passive approach. The Second Virginia Convention was assembled to discuss the matter. Firstly, David believed that he needed to get his butt kicked and do things he didn’t want to do. David wanted to do this because he was proving to himself and others that he was not that same little boy anymore. For example, Picasso Basquiat, YouTube contributor, discovered in David’s interview that one day when David came home from work that he saw Navy Seals on the TV. This inspired him to join the Navy. Therefore, even though David hated running, jumping out of air planes and shooting guns he still joined to better himself. Secondly, David was always brutally honest with himself. For instance, Basquiat explained that David had struggled with obesity and many times he weighted over three hundred pounds, but before David joined the Navy he lost over 100 pounds in two months. Thus, David told himself he was fat and decided he was going to change that. Thirdly, David never forgot all his struggles or let them hold him back. For example, Basquiat found out that David created what he called a cookie jar in his mind. This cookie jar consists of all David’s struggles and achievements. So when David is struggling he just stops for a second, looks in his cookie jar and this motivates him. For all these reasons, David is truly a master of self-improvement as well as pushing his
