It is not always that you find a person, who has great skills in more than 3 areas. Dave Gurdak is one of those people, whom they call a polymath. For several years now, Dave has been providing fashion consultation, as he himself is a style icon for many. While talking to Dave, one can make out that he is extremely experienced, and has a great deal of knowledge, when it comes to fashion.
“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”
This quote by Rachel Zoe, an American fashion designer, holds true in case of Mr. Dave, and it shows from his taste for fashion. When asked about his thoughts on fashion, Dave excerpts, “Your clothing makes the first, and the lasting impression of you. It is your fashion that speaks, and affect

While deciding the style, you are actually defining your image that you want others to see in you. According to Dave, there are certain factors that go a long way in deciding your style that suits you.
o Know Your Body Structure: This is one of the most important factors to consider. Mr. Gurdak explains this factors as, “You need to know your body structure, and based on that you should be able to visualize what might look good on you.” He further adds, “The type of your body can be considered as a deciding factor. Different body types include apple, pear, hourglass, or rectangle shaped.” Once you know your body type, it will help you understand the suitable style.
o Identify Your Personality: This is yet another factor, which says that you need to determine your personality. Determine how you want people to look at you as a persona. Once you are done with identifying your personality, define it. The definition should be such that your style and your personality should bond well together. Based on your personality, you can choose to wear any of the following
He said the worst thing they [costume designer] can wear are interesting clothes. “Nothing destroys confidence like cleverly inventive clothes worn by your costume or wardrobe person because it means you are spending time thinking about yourself. You need to save all of your energy and design essence for the work.” -Long, William. Interview.
My redesigned character has a big, not so neat afro simply because that is one of the most common traits found amongst African/African American women in terms of the texture of their natural hair. Another reason I gave her an afro was because I wanted to show that although her afro may not be tied up, or silky or neat that it can still be beautiful even on a Disney Princess. With her facial features I gave her a flat slightly big nose which is also a typical African beauty trait. I drew my redesigned character with big almost hear shaped lips that has a darker upper lip. I attempted to draw her with a curvy body and a big bottom but after interviewing my fellow colleagues I realized
Gianni Versace once said, “Do not make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.” Presumably, the fashion industry is permeated with a diversity of people who display a multitude of personalities through their clothing choice. From Audrey Hepburn to Lady Gaga, I personally call these innovative individuals icons. However, there is one peculiar icon that has transformed the fashion industry world beginning in the early sixties. Correspondingly, this fashion icon is able to present her bold personality by integrating music and fashion through decades to inspire.
Personal styles are limited by the group with GROUP THINK. Most of the time the individual will not take the chance to buck the system or willing to take the chance of being discredited by the core group if they do not agree with the process and or direction that is being lead.
The first choice to consider is the preferred fit of the shirt. Today shirts come in three basic fit styles. The traditional fit is slightly boxy and longer to look pleasant tucked in. The slim or athletic fit shirt tapers from the shoulder to the hips to accentuate the male form. Some brands are designed to fit snugly across the torso to display the wearer's body more than others. Full cut shirts are designed to flatter the bigger man.
“Everybody is different. Everybody has different styles. Just do it the best way you know how”(Vince Carter). People have their own unique styles ,whether it's the music they listen to, the clothes they wear, or just any of the choices people make on their own. Authors also

Physical appearance is determined by genetics. The chromosomes from our mother and father combine to create an individual with their own set of genes. These genes determine height, weight, skin color, and hair color and eye color. Genetics are also believed to contribute to intelligence as well as birth defects and possibly sexual orientation.
What makes you as a person? Most probably you have an idea of your own personality. Psychologists describe personality as individual differences in the way people tend to think, feel and behave. There are many ways to measure personality, but psychologists focus on personality traits. The most accepted of these traits are the Big Five: Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion,
Ever since their invention many centuries ago, clothes have been used as a way of communicating. The message communicated relies on a number of factors including the social background of both the communicator and the receiver, and the context in which the message is communicated. Although at times the exact message or symbolism one is trying to portray may not be clear, it is evident that clothing has long been embraced as one of the best ways to project one’s desired personal image to those around them.

Clothing is something that defines a person, and allows society to have an outlook on an individual’s lifestyle and beliefs. Unlike criticizing other material things like a car, a home or even something as simple as a television set, criticism of clothing is very personal. This suggests that there is a high correlation between clothing and personal identity and values. (Breward, pg.1) Clothing in a sense has the ability to communicate thought. However, similarly to art interpretations, this does not mean that any two people will perceive these visual aesthetics similarly.
Historically, multiple styles of dressing have been created during the last several decades, which played an important role in modern fashion in the UK. Everyone has a different and unique dressing style in their general life. Some styles are influenced in vintage styles which is attributing to the deep effects of old vogue, and another group of dressing styles are inclined into the fresh element. According to those different styles some of them are even evolved in the milestones in fashion history.
In conclusion, fashion will speak out a person’s social signal, people dress on designs that blend with their social class. Just as population, social activities and fashion are changing with time. Fashion has made clothing to be convinient, everything needs to be done with the least effort and spend the least time.
Fashion is a controversial issue in society nowadays. We live in a consumerism advanced era in which whether following fashion trends or not has become a debatable point. Many people believe that it is important to follow fashion trends. For example, Lord Chesterfield once said, “If you are not in fashion, you are nobody.” The question is why fashion should be an essential matter of concern to all of us. As far as I am concerned, each person should be able to decide if one wants to follow a trend or not.
