There are many things that I have learned throughout this course. At the beginning it was difficult for me to learn movements and the new vocabulary, however as the semester went I was able to figure out the non-verbal communication and indicating feelings that is fundamental when performing a dance. Although I do not perform as well as the other dancers, taking into account technique and experience I have certainly enhanced my technique and learned that much effort is required to become a great dancer. Professor Baggs showed me how passionate, committed, and motivated one can be when there is genuine love for dance. I feel that dancing is not to impress others but simply to express your emotions and feelings through motion. Dance is the …show more content…
The motivation behind this song is that it identifies with me. It is a moderate melody that contains a love story and I feel that I can genuinely connect with this song. After learning and training in ballet and modern dance I was able to apply the techniques and movement into my choreography. After listening to the lyrics of the songs I was able to come up with ideas on the best way to approach this choreography. The song is saying things that balance each other out. The interpretation that I get from this song is that at the same time you are giving everything up, you are gaining everything, and that’s what the whole song is about. If you’re in love and you connect with someone there is such a strong feeling that one always feels that they are gaining everything. This is another reason that motivated me to choreograph this song. I feel that occasionally it is hard to express how one truly feels around a significant other and I think choreographing this song is an incredible way express feelings and emotions. My dance is fundamentally taking into account an expressive structure to let out emotions and sentiments that individuals in their everyday relationship …show more content…
I have never really come up with a choreography on my own, so it was difficult for me. I thought that a three minute dance was going to be easy and simple, but in fact it took a lot of time and effort. To begin with I needed to get familiar with the song, in spite of the fact that I’ve listen to the song many times, I never really pay consideration on each and every verse and the meaning behind this song. I had to concentrate on different aspects of the music, for example, rhythms and harmonies which allowed me to get inspired and come up with the choreography. I basically divided the song into sections and identified the repeats and volume. In the wake of doing this I made a rundown of steps, moves and frequency that were taught in class. I also looked up at different dance videos to get more ideas on the best way to incorporate different moves and steps into this dance. It took some time to think of the right routine and I was finally able to come up with the specific message I wanted to get across the audience. I realized that keeping track of thoughts and ideas in a journal or computer is critical and can help not to overlook steps. Contemplating the steps and movements was simple, however actually moving and putting the steps, moves, and sequences was difficult. I found it helpful to do counts to recall the distinctive combinations of the dance. Creating sections by combining the different steps was very
...re of different dance cultures within the vocabulary of their scope, then the results would be so astounding as to give that dancer an unspoken quality distinguishing them from among their peers. Movement knowledge is cultural knowledge and remembering that each culture is beautiful and different in its own way can help create a dancer that will resonate with any audience member.

The main purpose of the song is to entertain because of its topic is on love and breakups which are the number one thing
Some values that make activities a sport would be that it’s time consuming, healthy, and also beneficial to emotional and physical requirements. However one concern that has been on people’s minds was why dance is not always considered a sport. There are various reasons to uphold both sides of agreeing or disagreeing the issue, but not all opinions support the fact with reasonable thoughts. “As knowledge about the body increases, dance training improves and the competition for excellence paired with innovation is greater, dancers bodies are pushed to the limits. The physical ability and disciplines expected of a dancer can be easily related to those
I have been a dancer since the age of 3. My earliest memory of dance was when I was too terrified to go on stage during a recital and I refused to go on no matter how much they tried to push me. Up until the age of about 12, dance had been just a hobby or an extracurricular activity. In fact, I didn’t even enjoy going to dance. I didn’t have friends there and I wasn’t that good of a dancer. It wasn’t until I participated in Dance Bermuda’s summer dance intensive in collaboration with the American Ballet Theatre in 2012, that I realized that I had a passion for dance. At the program, I was exposed to other dancers that were my age and older and most of them were much more advanced than I. So to avoid being the worst dancer in the program, I took to YouTube and watched hours and hours of dance videos. I researched all the ways to improve my ballet technique. I can remember trying to practice my pirouettes in the kitchen and falling onto the table and knocking a whole bunch of things over. I was determined to be as good as the other girls in the program. By the end of the two weeks I was fired up, motivated, and ready to get back to class after the summer.
The reason this song has such an inspiring effect on the listener is because of Lovato’s strong vocals, a result of her emotional attachment to what she is trying to express. She belts out her feelings, which draws the listener’s attention to the lyrics and creates a depressing but optimistic mood. Her voice represents her power and energy to rise and continue life
Dancing is a tremendously difficult task. That is why all dancers must have a mind mentally
An interesting part is to ask your self does the harmony or other elements make a difference in the overall picture? Well in my opinion I think the elements make up a huge part of what any song combined, of course! But, if I had to choose harmony is the way to go with this song, the way the chords are played sweetly and perfectly using the lower chords, as well as when the song gets a little more intense it never becomes extremely overwhelming, you always remember that the song you are hearing is pleasant and in no way meant to upset. In continuation, another element to think about is rhythm, considering that this is a ballet and something that requires dancing id have to say that yes rhythm does play a big part of this song. For starters the beginning of this song is repeated many times throught the song giving a sense of consistency but, thinking outside of the thoughts of music when I think of rhythm I think of dancing or someone who knows how to dance and has a good ear for listening to the specific changes of sound during the song, and considering this is a ballet that requires dancing I believe it strongly
The choreography, direction and scenario were all completed by David Nixon. As the ballet opens, there is a vision of holiday magic and holiday commotion. Though my family never dances like this during the holiday season, this is an all-too-familiar scene to my eyes, because it is this same chaos and excitement that consumes homes during the holiday season, every year. At points, it was light and happy, when guests were arriving and they'd take each other hand by hand and float light around stage as the kept with their partners. To me this symbolizes the beauty and comfort in catching up with those who return home for the holidays.

Even though we are introduced to Sara, the main focus of the video is the dance. The random dancers are dancing in very public places and, along with the song, show a definition of apathy. ... emotionally or physically. Dance is a great way to express yourself when you are happy sad, excited, gloomy, or just to make yourself better. Dance did not start very clean or good, it had a mix of everything and it always will. So people who perform it make the best out of it and it becomes their passion. Always makes the best out of worst by dancing yourself in and out of it.
Tracks ensures that the dancers involved are from a range of different cultural circumstances, this allows more diverse choreography, performances and audiences. McMicken describes the diverse environment, “If you just had one plant growing everywhere, its bland and not interesting, and not healthy… I often use [the] image that a healthy environment has maximum diversity in it”. This concept is parallel when regarding the education of cultural dance in schools, “maximum diversity builds respect and understanding” of traditions and beliefs.
“Dance, the art of precise, expressive, and graceful human movement, traditionally, but not necessarily, performed in accord with musical accompaniment. Dancing developed as a natural expression of united feeling and action.”
