Cyberbullying is a constantly growing issue in Australian Schools which can place a big impact on a child. When students face the cyber world they are a much bigger target to predators, with very few rules and and consequences. Which makes cyberbullying a dangerous environment, compared to that of school yard physical bullying. Many researchers indicate that cyberbullying causes a child’s grades to decrease due to many different issues they can face, and this symposium will explore that.

In the classroom teachers can have a big impact on forming many ideals and beliefs a student can grow to have. Teachers have authority, they monitor student behaviour, they set classroom rules and they put consequences in place for behaviour than can be deemed as inappropriate (Stauffer, Heath, Coyne, & Ferrin, 2012, p. 353). Many teachers are placed with a class for the school year, they even can have certain students for consecutive years. This encourages the teacher to gain a professional relationship with students. They learn certain attributes about different student’s and get to know their different personalities. This is very important as a teacher can normally be quick to detect if something is off with either a particular student or friendship group. WA school social worker supports this with her comment stating “Teachers usually have an inkling that something is off in the classroom they then can bring it to the Social Worker’s attention so the child can voice their issues in an encouraging and safe environment” (personal communication, 26/05/16). Many teachers however don’t know how to deal with cyberbullying situations and schools need to implement prevention programs to educate the teachers on how to deal with these certain situations (Hirschstein, Edstrom, Frey, Snell, & McKenzie, 2007; Payne, Gottfredson, 2006).Teachers can also help a cyberbullying student through assisting them with making their workload lighter or separating them from another student who might be troubling them. “I have seen certain circumstances, where teachers have come together to address an issue and that has resulted in a student to have less pressures in the classroom.” (personal communication, 26/05/16). The internet provides an opportunity for individuals all around the world to communicate with one another; although this privilege has created the major issue of cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is the use of social networking sites to harass, threaten or embarrass someone (Rouse, 2015 ). Well regarded author Richard Webster, asserts that over 80% of teenagers use social media regularly, (Webster, 2015 ) giving the notion that teenagers are major stakeholders. Well, based from both evidence from Document D and F, we can conclude that cyberbullying and its effect is just another form of bullying, but is just being exaggerated or, in other words, is made a bigger deal out of what it real is. In Document D, the fact that cyberbullying is not very disruptive is because a classroom discussion about a certain topic is very normal. Writer Caralee Adams informs readers of how cyberbullying is becoming an issue that teachers cannot ignore due to the problems spilling into classrooms in her article “Cyber Bullying: What Teachers and Schools Can Do.” Adams explains how school is the center of students’ lives, which is why events that occur out of school travel back into school. Cyber bullying has aftermaths that interfere with educational environments. Not only is it distracting for classroom lessons, but it makes the victim suffer from bullying more than once. Adams states ways teachers can educate themselves on the signs of cyberbullying and how to eliminate the issue. She says, cyber bullying “emboldens some kids to bully who wouldn't otherwise, because they can hide behind a computer screen.” This helps the bully stay anonymous while making it difficult for teachers to find the antagonizer and fix the situation. With the use of the internet increasing, researchers are finding a higher amount of cyberbullying. According to Hinduja and Patchin, “There is no shortage of potential offenders or victims of cyberbullying because of the widespread availability of computers and the Internet in the developed world,” (Hinduja and Patchin, 132). Both the writers make a good point stating this fact. With the amount of technology that is available to students, on different devises, has allowed them to freely communicate. Traditional bullying was physical and thus confined to face-to-face contexts. However, with the development of widespread social interaction via social media websites, email, and text-messaging, teens have additional avenues of expression and, as a result, other means of bullying. Over time the bullying taking place using digital means has come to be known as cyberbullying. Cyberbullying has brought the evilness out of teen’s actions, words, and thoughts whether they were the bully or the victim. Equally important, the ending results of these actions, words and thoughts have brought death, limited yet undefined punishable consequences if pursued, and slowly progressing methods to control cyberbullying as a whole.

This form of bullying can come through various mediums including but not limited to text messages, emails, videos, and social networking sites. There is an overwhelming amount of information that defines cyber bullying, identifies the demographics of bullies and victims of cyber bullying, and identifies the outcomes of cyber bullying on victims. More focus needs to be placed on who the perpetrators of this form of violence are and how this form of violence is linked to traditional bullying. This will allow researchers and practitioners to move forward with research and implementation preventative methods and intervention once the problem has already occurred.

Educators attempt to provide safe, nurturing environments where students can thrive. Any disturbance to this climate can have negative affects on students’ educational performances. Bullying is one such disruption. Unfortunately, physical and verbal abuse are nothing new in the school setting, however, the rise of technology in our country has created a new setting for bullies to target their victims. Cyberbulling, or the use of any number of technological means to harm or harass another, has become an increasingly prevalent occurrence, specifically among school-aged children (Campfield, 2006).

The Olympics started in 776 BC until 393 AD, it went on through 12 centuries, when emperor Theodosius decided to ban all the pagan cults. The Olympics were dedicated to the olympian gods, "they owed their purity and importance to religion" (olympic.org). Olympia, site of the olympic games, is part of the Peloponnese, the island of Pelops. Pelops was the founder of the olympic games and we owe him a great deal. Olympia wasn't only a place for sports its also a place for worship, religious, and political practices.

Stutzky suggests that cyber bullying is the use of modern communication technologies to embarrass, humiliate, threaten, or intimidate an individual in the attempt to gain power and control over them. Bullying has been around since the beginning of time. These days however, bullying isn’t just happening on the playground, it’s happening on the internet and mobile phones, making it possible to bully a child 24 hours a day. Cyber bullying follows children around the clock and into the safety of their own bedrooms. A recent survey by MindOh!, an educational company that follows youth trends, reported that nearly 80% of the 5,500 teens that were surveyed said that they had been exposed to cyber bullying. Cyber bullying affects the mental health of so many young adolescents around the world, and the issue is steadily increasing as more and more ways to bully are created.In extreme incidents, cyber bullying has led teenagers to suicide. Most victims, however, suffer shame, embarrassment, anger, depression and withdrawal.
