Recommended: Social media and its effects on cyber bullying

Many of us know about cyber socializing, and have used some form of it. Whether it’s texting on a cell phone, chatting on Facebook, or sending e-mails, it’s become a part of everyday life. All of these types of modern technology not only make things easier to contact people, but it can go deeper than that and help you stay in touch with maybe a close relative who lives far away, or a friend who just moved away from home. But at the same time, all of these things need to be used carefully because these internet and mobile sources can lead to a harsh reality for people. While cyber socializing gives people around the world the ability to interact with loved ones who are both close and far, these sites can have negative effects on others.

The negative sides of cyber socializing, better known as cyber bullying, has several statistics to go along with it, as well as different types. The first type of cyber bully is called “The Vengeful Angel” which is someone who doesn’t understand that they are the person causing the harm. The next is considered “The Power Hungry,” the ones who are literally power hungry as they use the internet to show that they have power and can get other people to follow in their food steps. Some cyber bullies have also been ones to keep the situation a secret, this is called “The Revenge of the Nerds.” Finally, “The Mean Girls” are known as the bullies who attack people for their own entertainment, this type has been known to have female antagonists as well as male. But all of these types of cyber bullies all go about the same idea which is a group of young kids trying purposely hurt other people through the internet or mobile devices.
