The population in Yaletown is generally younger than normal with a median age of 37. The average income in Yaletown is $71,000, which is similar to West Vancouver. Yaletown is home to a number of fashion and design shops, and on weekends the area turns to a place for shoppers, entertainment seekers, and food connoisseur’s. Yaletown is located 2.5km southwest of Gastown. The closeness in proximity of the Gastown and Yaletown location could potentially cause the customer base from Gastown to move to Yaletown. This would not be the most profitable option as you are not expanding to a new customer base, but instead making the cupcakes more accessible for existing customers. Cupcakes would also be produced at the Gastown location. This would force your business to invest money into transportation/delivery systems for Cupcake Desire to properly function.
There is a 600 square foot retail store available for rent that would be split on a 90/10 basis with a decorative and accessory items shop. However, if this part of the shop suffers in sales, your business could suffer. The small space will not allow for a seating area within the shop. The Yaletown location would cost $25 per square foot a year which equates to $13,500, and has the potential to make $55,000 after start up
The parent company cost to build a store would be $80,000 ($10,000 profit). The cost timeframe would be an $80,000 expense in the month that the store opened.

For my summer reading assignment I chose to read the book “Cake Pop Crush” by Suzanne Nelson. I selected this book, because when I read the analogy of the book it really got my attention. It sounded like a competitive, romance, and eye catching type of book mixed in one. While reading the book I constantly was wanting to know what was going to happen next.
Market research and information about the industry is very important to the organization because it will allow the organization to position itself well in terms of sourcing chocolate raw materials and in identifying the market for its products. For example, understanding that some chocolate product purchases are seasonal, e.g., at Christmas; around Mother’s Day; and, on Valentine’s Day, allows the organization to have more product on hand and to create displays, in store, that will increase purchases and attract more customers when existing customers tell their friends about the availability of high end products, at reasonable prices, in their store.

People have been known to find Jesus in the strangest ways. In their toast or eggs; you can even buy a Grilled Cheesus sandwich. Being that he only makes appearances in food It makes sense that one of those ways would be in a cake, because it’s Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, the last day to eat King’s Cake before the beginning of Lent.
Prostitution, drug abuse, child abuse, rape, theft, domestic violence, alcoholism, miscarriages, gang fights, and sexually transmitted diseases are all feats that Cupcake Brown had to encounter and take on all before the age of twenty. In Piece of Cake: A Memoir by Cupcake Brown, she tells her life story and how she faced all of those feats. Throughout the book, the reader begins to notice that the use of profanity is present in almost every paragraph if not every sentence, along with the use of improper grammar. Thus, while profanity can be offensive to many, the reader begins to realize how much of an impact in makes in the book. By using the profanity and grammar Brown does, it gives the reader a more genuine look into her life.

Imagine this, it is the 1800’s and you’re shopping for sugar. You see the sweet, pure white sugar and look down. Wham! The price makes your stomach drop. You need a cup of sugar, and the price is five dollars per teaspoon. That’s two-hundred and forty dollars, and you only have two dollars with you! In the articles, How Candy Conquered America by Lauren Tarshis and This Cupcake is Trying to Hurt You by Kristin Lewis and Lauren Tarshis it talks about how the consumption of sugar changes over time from the 1800’s to today. Two ways sugar consumption in the United States differed in the 1800’s than today is how much sugar we eat and how it affects our bodies.
If Tim Hortons was going to open in Ajax, it would be located on Rossland Road and Church Street because on the map it acclaims that on the West End side it is very populated, and it is on a major road aswell as it is the only Tim Hortans in that specified area. The pro about the Tim Hortans being located on that intersection is that, if people need a “To go” snack and are hungry they don’t need to travel a far distance for coffee or any other snack, a lot of people don’t have time to make breakfast in the morning or they are running late for work so they can grab something very fast. Since it is located on a major road it is easily accessible to people, and since there is a high school nearby the students can grab stuff and hang out there,
The main problems that are affecting the company were the high level of labour turnover, below target production rates, high levels of scrap, the employees had little input in the decision making, therefore resulting in low motivation and job satisfaction, and didn't have enough feedback on there performance. Added to this was the conflict between the supervisors and employees in the production and packing areas, and the grading and payment levels wasn't satisfactory to the employees.

Growth of the chocolate industry over the last decade has been driven in large part by an increasing awareness of the health benefits of certain types of chocolate. Chocolate consumers are considerably price insensitive. Except in rare circumstances consumers are willing to purchase what they consider an “affordable luxury.” Chocolate is one of the most popular and widely consumed products in the world, with North American countries devouring the lion's share, followed by Europe
The Theobroma cacao tree is where it all started. Olmecs, Aztecs, and Mayans were the original consumers of cocoa: they would form it into a drink and ingest it for medicinal reasons (Allen Par. 7). The Spanish then brought it back to Europe and continued to treat a variety of ailments with it (Allen Par. 7). In the last 40 years people have started to question the health benefits of chocolate, but new research is starting to prove that the Olmecs, Aztecs, Mayans and Spaniards were not too far off. Now, the pods from the tree containing cocoa beans are collected, and the cocoa beans are taken out of the pod (Healing Foods Pyramid Par. 15). The beans are then fermented, dried, roasted, then ground to make cocoa liquor (Healing Foods Pyramid Par. 15). The cocoa liquor is then combined with sugar, vanilla, and cocoa butter to make what is now known as chocolate (Healing Foods Pyramid Par. 15). Controversy over the health benefits and detriments of chocolate is slowly subsiding, but there are many things that a lot of people still do not know about how chocolate can affect ones health. Chocolate is misunderstood.
