Cuba is an archipelago found in the Caribbean region with a population size of 11,390,000 as of 2015 according to World Health Organization. It is known to have beautiful beaches, eclectic Colonial architecture, vintage cars, and cigars. But aside from that, Cuba is becoming more popular due to its model healthcare system. It ranked 39th out of 190 countries in World health organization ranking for health care system. It is also one of the lowest infant mortality rate and one of the highest life expectancy based on World Health Organization reflecting Cuba’s government and health sector effort to prioritize the health of their citizen. They believe that every citizen has the right to have an appropriate, affordable and accessible health care specialize for each specific need. A Cuban citizen is provided with free health services. Despite our current situation, Philippines ranked 60th out of 190 countries in World health organization ranking for health care system. What we can learn from them is that in spite of lack of resources and economic status but with right decision still they manage to have a universal health care for every citizen and attain similar results as to developed countries. If only that our government will have a strong political will for improvement and set aside their self-vested interest. Another thing we could learn from them is there healthcare system centers on primary and preventive medicine. By doing preventive measures like vaccination, annual medical examination, and health education, there will be lesser cost for treating patients wherein specialized equipment and expensive medications are needed. This will help to allocate funds needed in other programs. It also contributes to achieve and improve patient centered health
