The collage I made was based on the poem “Crowd Corralling”, by Margaret Avison and this poet uses nature to represent the symbolism in each image. She plays on the title “Crowd Corralling”, in other words meaning crowd gatherings, to show that people are coming together. At the start of the poem there is an image of nature that comes to mind, for instance as the author states, “Hard rain. the bean-mash smell. leaky tin-brim spill. grass-soak:”. It portrays an image of thunderstorm, since thunderstorm are associated being bad, it creates an image of a dark/depressing atmosphere. Also, throughout the poem the author is showing nature as a force of unity, specifically through raindrops in droplets and puddles, this is referring to when rain is coming down fast, it is like people in …show more content…

This is because humans are usually in the same place or going the same way. In addition, the pictures of picnics, camping, and parades represents crowds of people gathering together over something they have in common, hence representing the unification. However, the other images consist of people enjoying themselves in nature along with appreciating the beauty of nature, which again bring everyone together. When a family is sitting around the camp fire in the outdoors, and reading in the nature, represents the bringing together of people through nature and is represented by the parade for Pride day. I used the image of flowers to symbolize nature and it reminds me of the appearance along with the scent of nature. Also, it represents when the author states “uncontrollable beautiful”, considering she is referring the beauty present in nature and when people are brought together in a crowd.
