As I walked down the street I noticed multiple interesting qualities of the buildings that surrounded me; each individual building came to a point with little windows at the top, equipped with slanted roofs that were covered in the perfect amount of snow. As I passed a large red wagon that read, "BUTTERBEER" I knew exactly where I was; "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter." This was a place I had always longed to visit and had much anticipated the magic within it 's perimeter. After I tried butterbeer, a favorite drink of the characters in the Harry Potter series, I spun around in surprise to see the Hogwarts Express steaming in all of it 's glory. Words cannot describe how thrilling it is to actually be in the shoes of a character, seeing …show more content…
Me! When I was reconnected with my family, my brother gave me eyes, saying "You always win", but I was too overjoyed to let him bring my mood down so I gave him a smile that giggled "I know!" As I left as the chosen one I was greeted by two wizards who took my wand and placed it in an official Ollivanders box which had the Ollivander Crest on it. The 2 wizards told me about how lucky I was to be the chosen one and how this wand would give me my best results as a young witch in Hogwarts. Well, that is, as long as I agreed to pay the $39.95 for the wand. I had assumed that I would receive the wand for free since I had been the chosen one but alas I was incorrect. I was faced with the decision on whether or not to go ahead and buy the wand that had supposedly chosen me before I had seen any other souvenirs available in Hogwarts. As someone who is very indecisive, this decision took 45 minutes worth of pacing around all of the other wands. I continually picked the wand out of the box, admired it, and immediately put it back in so that I wouldn 't fall in love. My brother had chosen to purchase Harry Potter 's look-alike wand from the movie, for that is what he had originally set his mind to. We honestly didn 't need two wands around our house, but the wand had chosen me! It was comparable to a situation where one finds a tiny puppy without an owner and so they bring it home so that …show more content…
I can 't imagine how foolish I looked yelling the words "Wingardium Leviosa" but in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, nothing like that can be ridiculed. In Hogwarts, it is normal. Not one person in that room was thinking about how foolish I looked as the books came falling down or how I was probably saying the spells all wrong. Even though that show goes on multiple times a day and I just got lucky that the wand keeper chose me, during those 30 minutes of waving my wand around the whole world revolved solely on myself. I was the center of attention to everyone in that room, and I believe that they all cared that I found the right wand as much as I did. This experience put meaning to the classic saying "You can never judge a book by it 's cover." While my brother, mom, and I waited in line we had no idea what we were getting into, but I am thrilled to say that we didn 't miss out on that opportunity. Next time that I visit somewhere new, I will be sure to participate in as many attractions as I can and explore the unknown because you never know where that can lead you. As I followed Harry Potters footsteps that day, through all of the whirlwind of events and decisions, I am happy that I purchased the wand in the end. Have I used it since? Only once or twice but it provides a great story for when people come over and ask "Oh….is that a wand from Harry Potter World?" To that question, I can happily say,
All he could see was red, pure anger seeping through every one of his actions. He kicked and kicked in a brutal rhythm, not thinking about anything other than the fact that he hadn't been there when it happened. What if Amaimon had found out, said something and then been hurt because the other him lashed out in anger. He would hate himself forever. What if Amaimon had been killed? What if he'd come home to that? He couldn't stand the thought. In the end he may have been hitting the other him for touching his brother, for being here and convincing him he was his mate. But really it was his anger at himself that drove most of his actions. He could understand the other trying to cover things up to try and avoid any time line mishaps, deep down
The window was cold to the touch. The glass shimmered as the specks of sunlight danced, and Blake stood, peering out. As God put his head to the window, at once, he felt light shining through his soul. Six years old. Age ceased to define him and time ceased to exist. Silence seeped into every crevice of the room, and slowly, as the awe of the vision engulfed him, he felt the gates slowly open. His thoughts grew fluid, unrestrained, and almost chaotic. An untouched imagination had been liberated, and soon, the world around him transformed into one of magnificence and wonder. His childish naivety cloaked the flaws and turbulence of London, and the imagination became, to Blake, the body of God. The darkness lingering in the corners of London slowly became light. Years passed by, slowly fading into wisps of the past, and the blanket of innocence deteriorated as reality blurred the clarity of childhood.
Although there were many other things to worry about as I transported my flock, my mind still drifted to the merchant's daughter. The dark night sky gave my memory time to fade into familiar sounds and colors that made my recollection of that day clear and vivid.
The previous week they had performed the spell successfully. After contacting Mordred, Merlin and Morgana had arranged to meet him and Aglain, the leader of the druid camp, in the woods near a small waterfall, halfway between Camelot and the grave of Gorlois. Morgana always went on her annual pilgrimage to her father's tomb at this time of the year, at the end of spring.

Harry learns of his past and his future as a wizard from Hagrid, the keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. “Men, for many of you, today is your first day training as a Knight of Camelot,” said Prince Arthur to the group standing before him. “And be grateful you’re not stuck in a torrential downpour as I was on my first day of training here on this very field. The sun is shining and I plan to work you hard.”
There were once three friends Luke, Adam, and Eli. They were running for their lives from alien soldiers. They had only some food, water and a knife each. “Runnnnn they're gaining on us!” yelled Luke who was at the front. After they lost them they stopped to rest. They were in the forest of pyrex. They knew they had to get to hi valley for it was the only safe place in all the world. They were close to the place thought they just had to avoid many soldiers and bullets and then it would be a straight shot to the valley. Eli pointed to a map and said “It might be a few day stretch from here.” “But” interrupted Adam “There are soldiers everywhere that will shoot you on the spot,” luke said “We should go this way through the Spirit forest because, there is no way any soldier would go through it.” even though the voyage would take longer it was the safest way.
Life is an amazing thing just like Jeannette Walls’ in The Glass Castle. Add a sentence about her hardships. People are awesome and we do many great things in life. Some of us go on to making and creating amazing inventions and other gadgets. Some of us go on to doing heroic things with our life. Well all have great and amazing moments but sometimes we have not so great or even tragic events. I 'm not going to say I 've had it the worst like Jeannette, but I 've definitely have a story to tell.
I didn’t know what happened, but worse, I didn’t know what was happening. The sounds of footsteps neared my body, but I was too hurt to react.
Fadiman seems to share this funny life event regarding books in her chapter of "Never do that to a book". Well, my funny story regarding a book will have to be when I became a criminal to my young mind in fifth grade. Financially wise I was poor meaning that my parents could not afford to buy me all the books that I would want. Going to the bookstore would be a torture when it was not my birthday because I could not take any books home, so when the book fair came along to my school I knew I would just suffer when it was the turn of my class to go and visit the fair. Sure enough fair came around and the few friends I had were better off financially so they got to take two to five books with them while I just settled with being able to read them on the spot. At the time, I was obsessed with The Muppets, and my parents working for the Jim Henson company at the time just fueled it more. My makeshift room was filled with various Muppets objects, and when I went to that book fair I saw something that I wanted very badly. In the cover, it had Kermit the Frog sitting on a stool with the title Before you Leap: A Frog's Eye View of Life's Greatest Lessons. I read the first few pages and I knew that I wanted the book, but the sad part was the fact that I did not have the money for it or had anyone that could lend me the money. I was always a good kid always following orders, but that day I said no one will find out. I
The Harry Potter phenomenon had its humble beginning all the way back in the 1990s, when the first book, written by J. K. Rowling, came out in the shops. The main protagonist, a scrawny, young child wizard, who wore round glasses, had an immediate appeal to the readers, but no one at that time knew that the young boy would turn out to be the literary icon of the last decade. The popularity of the book resulted in it being translated into various language...
When I was in middle school, I convinced my dad and my mom to buy me an Ipod Touch. The reason I wanted to have an Ipod Touch was when I saw one friend in my class in my middle school had it. I saw my friend played with his Ipod Touch during break time everyday. I had a chance to borrow his Ipod Touch and play games on it. His Ipod Touch was so fascinating because it gave me a new experience that I had never had a chance to try in life. I started to think that it would be so cool if I had an Ipod Touch. I could play games, listen to music, watch Youtube and more on an Ipod Touch. I could virtually do everything on an Ipod Touch, so I really wanted to own one. An Ipod Touch was an expensive dream for a middle school student like me at that
As I saunter onto the school field, I survey the premises to behold people in coats, shielding themselves from winter's blues. The sun isn't out yet, but the place bursting with life and exuberance, with people gliding across the ice covered floor almost cat-like. The field is effervescent and despite the dire conditions, the field seems to have taken on a life of its own. The weather is bad and the ice seems to burn the skin if touched, yet the mood is still euphoric. The bare shrubs and plants about the place look like they've been whipped by Winter himself. The air is frosty and at every breath the sight of steam seems to be present. A cold, cruel northerly wind blows across the playground and creates unrest amongst some. Crack! The crisp sound of leaves is heard, as if of ice splitting and hissing. Squirrels are seen trying to find a point of safety, scurrying about the bare trees that lie around the playground. Mystery and enigma clouds the playing field, providing a sense of anticipation about the place. Who is going to be the person to spoil the moment? To kill the conversation?
show. When Christmas had come, the only present I wanted from my parents was a leaf blower. I could not
"Ok, now let's see what you can do with this pistol alright" I gave her five shells to load and told her, "always leave the hammer on an empty chamber for your safety" I stood behind her and watched as she took aim not expecting her to hit any of the targets. Boy was I wrong, with every shot a target flew through the air with a hole dead center. After she unloaded the pistol she motioned for me to give her more ammo. I gave her five more shells, she loaded the gun, aimed and fired with the same results. After this round was over I motioned for her to sit down a minute. Brenda was smiling and said, "how did I do" "You were great and where did you learn to shoot that way" I use to target pratice, remember I told you that" "yes I remember, but did not expect you to be so good" "Big things come in small packages she laughed. I laughed with her and said, "let's see how you do with a rifle now" I walked out about two-hundred feet and set up four targets for her and said, "all your's" Brenda steadied herself and aimed, missed the first one, raised the rifle again, and took a shot. The target went flying through the air flipping over and over. "Not bad, now and let's see if you can keep it going" I told her. She hit the other two and raised the rifle again, and I stopped her and said, "what are you shooting at" "The one I missed of course" The other target she hit knocked the down she missed so I let her have her way. She cocked the rifle, brought it up to aim and fired. Sure enough that target went down. "You are amazing and is there anything else I do not know about you smiling" "Oh there is a lot but that would take the mystery of of it wouldn't it", grinning. "I suppose and we have plenty of time to find out those things my dear" As we walked back to the cabin we held hands like two lovers that were sneaking around behind their parents back. The rest of the day we just sat on the porch and made small talk with one another. Every-now-and-then she would look at me and smile. Brenda started humming a little tune and I watched her rocking back and forth keeping time to it.
