It had been several months since the attacks started, first D.C fell and then everything went to hell in a handbasket. People turned on each other, and with no formal government, people did what was right in their own eyes. It reminded Ken of Judges, and the deep descent into sin that they went through. Ken and his brother Paul had been on the road for a few months now, slowly creeping their way to colorado with the hope of finding their brother and parents. It weighed on Ken’s heart to have seen what everyone had become, although they did not become what they are, they had always been that way. Their inner darkness had just been waiting for a chance to break free and wreak havoc. The lack of government and the collapse of civilized society …show more content…
Ken looked at him, he could see that this lifestyle was weighing on his brother. Paul’s blue eyes were constantly darting around, looking for every possible danger. His dark black hair was tousled and messy. Paul’s broad shoulders were slumped and his exhaustion was very visible. “Should we go through the woods?” Paul asked. Realizing that the terrain had changed Ken looked up and scanned the edge of the thick forest. “Not now, let's stay on the road until dark.” Paul nodded, he was uncomfortable with the thought of being out in the open, but he had also come to terms with the fact that Ken called the shots. “How are you doing sweetheart?” Paul inquired of the black and white border collie as she trotted along as if she had no care in the world. Shadow’s tail began to wag as she relished Paul stroking her …show more content…
The old high school that they both had attended looked worn down, but still used. This bothered Paul, “Let’s steer clear” Paul requested. As he often did Ken processed the request and ignored it, “Come on little brother let us reminisce about the times where we weren't constantly checking our backs for gun men.” “I don’t like the looks of this place, it is like people have been here recently.” As Paul uttered that last sentence a single gunshot flew over their heads. Then came a voice, that had a twinge of familiarity in Ken’s ears. “I may have missed but I promise i'm not a bad shot, and i will prove it if you do not stop moving.” The humor in his voice turned Ken’s face red as he pulled his rifle off his back. “Show yourself” Ken screamed, annoyed and afraid he turned aggressive. “Very well, if you put your gun down first.” Remembering the handgun in the back of his pants, and thinking about how he could trick the unseen gunman. Ken laid down his rifle, and Paul followed suit. From utop the school a hooded man climbed down to meet them, as he turned and his face was revealed Ken realized why he sounded familiar. “Jack?” Exclaimed the startled Ken, “Kenneth? Fancy meeting you here.” Ken recognized his highschool friend, but something was off with him. He had a new scar along his face, and his eyes did not dart around, he was not looking for any threats. Paul recognized this and was
Kenan is beginning to become weak, but instead of making it easier on himself, he chooses to put his family’s safety and security before his own needs and continues to fill the bottles alone. He thinks of his family’s pain before his and he realizes that, “If he is killed he does not want anyone in his family to witness it, as much as he would like their faces to be the last thing he sees” (27). Kenan also rejects the idea of asking for assistance from his son, because, “He knows his wife will never recover” (27) if he and his son die and he does not want to think about what might happen if, “his son alone die[s]” (27). Kenan’s rejection of help despite the fact that if the two of them made the trek for water it would result in a safer and faster trip shows that he would rather risk his life and risk his family’s. After this profound realization Kenan becomes a better person who is proud of his family’s life.
He raised his rifle and fired?I hate that tree? I hate that dog??(121), but what Frank and Tub do not know is that Kenny was given orders by the farmer to shoot and kill the dog because the dog was sick. Not knowing that Kenny was joking and seeing that he had actually killed the dog, Tub did not take any chances when Kenny said he hated him. Tub shot Kenny before he could shoot

A man carrying two revolvers and two 9mm semi-automatic handguns calmly strode into the Dunblane Primary School. Two people quickly spotted the firearms and tried to tackle the man; he shot them and left them wounded as he continued his journey down the hall of the school. Finally, the man reached his destination: the gym, where a class a kindergartners were having P.E. In the gym, he pulled out the guns and started picking off the five-year-olds one by one. The room was splattered with blood as young children broke like porcelain dolls under the power of the gun. The blood continued to flow, but the intruder did not stop; he took careful aim to make sure he didn't miss. The final insult came when he shot the teacher who was shielding kids with her body. Once he killed her, he killed the kids she was protecting. When he finished in the gym , he turned around walked out, shot at a class as he walked down the hall and walked out into the courtyard. In the courtyard, the killer ended the ordeal by taking his own life (Pederson).
Another bizarre aspect of the movie is how the director, ---, portrays East Side High. After there is a time change from the 60s to the 80s, East Side transforms from a nice, well-kept, and clean school to a graffiti filled, prison-like, school that resembles an alleyway, not a high school. There are fights in the hallway and the bathrooms every time class lets out. Drug dealers are let in by other students to exchange money and drugs. East Side is portrayed as a rundown and scary – to say the least – learning institution.
Suddenly one could hear a pin drop. Abruptly the classroom door burst open and Cho walked in and raised a Glock 9mm handgun. (Friedman)
He grew up in this small town and knew he would live there forever. He knew every landmark in this area. This place is where he grew up and experienced many adventures. The new journey of his life was exciting, but then he also had a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach of something not right. Three weeks ago John, twenty-four years old, finished his fourth semester of college.
One Tree Hill is a television series I was introduced to a few years ago and had the opportunity of watching on Netflix before it was unfortunately removed. This episode begins with a boy named Jimmy Edwards expressing his hatred for his school Tree Hill High and his inability to fit in. As he walks into the school, he sees the group of boys that had just beat him up the night earlier, going through his locker. When the guys see him, they laugh and purposely bump into him. As they walk away Jimmy pulls a gun out of his pocket and fires at the boys, fortunately he misses, but the gun fire causes students to scatter and scream in search for safety. Because this shooting occurred so fast, nobody is aware of who the shooter is, and he is welcomed
Located in the popular Yosemite National Park, Yosemite Falls is the tallest waterfall in California. Every year, mother nature’s breathtaking beauty attracts millions of people from around the world. People hike for three long and fatiguing hours in anticipation of witnessing forceful water rushing down the steep mountain from 2,425 feet above. Last summer, my family and I backpacked through the Yosemite Falls Trail and I came to learn what a truly exhausting experience it is.
The Creature That Opened My Eyes Sympathy, anger, hate, and empathy, these are just a few of the emotions that came over me while getting to know and trying to understand the creature created by victor frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. For the first time I became completely enthralled in a novel and learned to appreciate literature not only for the great stories they tell but also for the affect it could have on someones life as cliché as that might sound, if that weren’t enough it also gave me a greater appreciation and understanding of the idiom “never judge a book by its cover.” As a pimply faced, insecure, loner, and at most times self absorbed sophomore in high school I was never one to put anytime or focus when it came time
One day Peter decided to take things into his own hands and stormed into Sterling High School with the intention to kill. It all started with Peter’s brother Joey who started to bully him when he was in kindergarten. Both Joey and his friends were very wrong doing to Peter. Joey would take Peter’s lunch box and
A Cabin Catastrophe By Nathan Hart “Where are we disappearing to again?” I inquired. “A resort area named Innsbrook,” my mother riposted impatiently. “Where are my orders of business!” I asked no single person in particular.
'This year's been a good one for snow.' Candlewick mumbled, a statement which was frequently heard from her during these months. She drifted through the living room somewhat aimlessly, admiring the gorgeous January sunset that gleamed magnificently through the frosty bay windows, throwing prismatic rays of evening light over the frozen river. Glancing back into the main room, she pressed her fingertip to the glass' misty surface. Candlewick stared dreamily out over the beautiful snow-covered hills, tracing their outline into the frost.
As Joe Clark becomes the principle of the school, he notices that there is a lot to be changed. He is a very forceful principle who makes extreme actions on wanting East Side High School to be a better and safer school. As making the school a better place, he was forced to do many things which some students may not have wanted to happen. The main extreme action he took was explosion for those students who he thought were making the school worse than it already was. In the movie Joe Clark said “I want all of you to take a good look at these people on the risers behind me. These people have been here roughly five years, and done absolutely nothing. These people are drug dealers and drug users. They have taken up space. They have disrupted this school. They have harassed your teachers. And they have intimidated you. Well, times are about to change”. He knew that for a better change he wou...
Prologue: Magic doesn't exist. It simply doesn't. And yet our village, Leicht, is surrounded by moss-capped stone walls. These walls are over twenty feet high, and even though the next village is more than fifty miles away and there are no bandits along the roads, no one has dared suggest that they be torn down, if only to make them a little shorter. Every once and a while, a handful of schoolchildren would doubt this magic-just-doesn't-exist scenario, but the other villagers always would attempt to quench these doubts.
