On May 31, 2017, an immensely enthusiastic Devan woke me from my slumber for our first St.Cardinal’s game as a couple. Devan, running frantically, jumped onto my bed, waking me up from the best nights sleep that I’ve ever had in my life. He ripped open the curtains, allowing the blinding sunlight to bleed into the bedroom. In an attempt to keep me awake, he tickled me for minutes on ends. The only good it did was annoy me. After having Devan almost tickle me to death, I had to get ready for the day. After rolling out of my cocoon of warmth, I got ready for the day. While getting out of bed to get ready for the baseball game, the temperature in the room dropped below freezing point. It was so like being stuck bitterly cold it was in the snow …show more content…
When grabbing an outfit to wear for the beautiful, sunny day, I decided to wear my new St. Louis Cardinal’s T-shirt I had recently bought. With a deep royal blue and the Cardinal’s logo on the front in bright, large letters to contrast the deep blue, it easily became my favorite shirt. After taking one of the most blazing showers I’ve ever taken, I got dressed very quickly. After Devan complimented my comfortable outfit, we parted from our ice-cold house heading to Washington for an unknown, mysterious reason. Driving our old, maroon Taurus, Devan was heading to Rue Twenty-One, which was closing in a few short months. With the sun baking down on the vehicle, the A\C was blooming the coldest air possible. I had wanted to see the fabulous deals the store would be offering. Going shopping before the baseball game had shocked me. In an only mere two minutes of trying to look around, I could not find a single piece of clothing that sparked my interested enough to pick it up, let alone buy it. The clothes in the store were skimpy and repulsive to look at. Never before have I been repulsed by being in a Rue Twenty One store. Then, surprisingly, …show more content…
Busch Stadium was a spectacle to see. Amongst all the surrounding buildings, with its bright colors representing the famous team that played every home game there since its nativity in 1964 makes it easily distinguishable. The glistening of the red makes it impossible to forget the sight. The stadium, standing sparkling red in the sunlight, wore an elegant mask that none of the other buildings around Busch Stadium possessed. Finding our seats turned into a maze because of how close the seats were to the field. The seats were seventeen rows behind home plate. We sat in wrong seats at the beginning of the game. We eventually moved seats during the game, which made me very agitated because a worker was the one who told us where to find our seats. This worker found the right seats, which had an excellent view of the game. The players were listed on the huge screen for everyone to see, which was neat because each player had their own theme song for them when they came onto the field. When the players were on the field, an astonishing scene was before me. All the players had their precise, elegant uniforms on spotless compared to seeing them on tv. The game took place during the evening at 5:30. Fresh cut, green grass stood out around the brown dirt. The players would soon create a colossal mess while playing for their lives. The crowd was going crazy with
Upon arrival at the opening game of the season for the Whitecaps, I feel very self concious, as if I do not belong here. I glance at my companions and laugh, they probably feel the same way. We walk up the steps of the stadium and I smile, momentarily caught up in the sweet charm of a group of elderly men, playing 'Take Me Out To The Ballpark' in old fashioned brass style. This will be an interesting night at the very least.
I stood at the front gate of Fenway park, home of the Boston Red Sox, where the Green Monster stands tall, the year of 2013. As soon as I walked in through the front gate, the warm smell of hot buttery popcorn made my mouth water with comfort. This familiar smell brought me back to the times I went to baseball games with my Dad and grandfather. The spots of spilled soda stains stick and sizzle on the cold hard concrete floors surrounding the stadium. The steam of a freshly boiled hot dog fills my nostrils with delight. A few moments later the umpire had a scratchy voice that emitted through the stadium and announced, “Play Ball”. Then the fans all seated waiting for the game to begin. After a few minutes the 1st inning began and one of the most
The Creature That Opened My Eyes Sympathy, anger, hate, and empathy, these are just a few of the emotions that came over me while getting to know and trying to understand the creature created by victor frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. For the first time I became completely enthralled in a novel and learned to appreciate literature not only for the great stories they tell but also for the affect it could have on someones life as cliché as that might sound, if that weren’t enough it also gave me a greater appreciation and understanding of the idiom “never judge a book by its cover.” As a pimply faced, insecure, loner, and at most times self absorbed sophomore in high school I was never one to put anytime or focus when it came time
We walked down into the bustling docks, stinking of long dead fish and seaweed. We walked past the decreped old fishing boats and their owners, all with rotting wooden lobster pots and old rope nets. The huge ship was moared in the harbour, its ancient gangplank rested lightly on the hole filled pier. Mr Cheese, our navigator, stood at the top polishing his peg leg, while Meet-Hook stood behind working on yet another wax painting. Otis and Carla ran up the gangplank and began to load the crates of sugar and cotten from the plantations into the hold.
Clint had gone to school the same way every time so he thought he would go a different way. He followed a main road and then took a new side passage that he had wondered about before. Through this side passage he came across an abandoned street, he started to walk down when he noticed that his shadow wasn't making the same movements he was. Clint rubbed his eyes and then his shadow was mimicking him again. He then decided that he would go the normal way to school like usual. Once he arrived at school he talked to his friend Zac about the abandoned street and if he had ever been there. Zac replied with " No I would never go down such a dangerous looking street, you're basically asking to get mugged" "Do you want to go down that street on the
I sit in concentrated silence, watching the vulnerable middle-aged man sitting to the left of me. He wears an old white t-shirt that is stained to a cream-color with heavy shorts and worn-in black tennis shoes. We meet alone in the Ministry Office’s conference room that faces Jefferson Davis Highway. His large dark-skinned figure, a silhouette from the late July sun pouring in behind him, sits patiently. As I take notes on my yellow notepad, he speaks of his great losses over the past few years, but more specifically over the past two weeks.
Waking up to see the ocean is amazing, but it doesn 't really help when you were in the fetal position, sleeping, on a bus. The ocean really did help with how uncomfortable it was to sleep on a bus and the fact that we were at our beautiful destination, St. Malo. The reason I was there was that I was on a European trip. St. Malo is a breathtaking fortress city that is surrounded by the English Channel. There was a large, brick wall going around the city. The buildings inside the wall were beautiful and you could feel the history from them. One of the bad things about staying inside a fortress was, we had to get off the bus and walk to our hotel. This was a short, but rocky trip because the roads were made of bricks and this made our suitcases
I am fascinated with old churches and graveyards, this is why I‘ve reserved a very special place among a small group of other interested parties, to hear the stories that took place in New Orleans past eras, with a visit to the 200 year old, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, once used as a mortuary and surrounded by what some same refer to as the once seedy, jazzy Red Light section of this colorful city, I’m relieved to have found a guide that has authorized entrance into the St. Louis #1because of its age and past incident of unfortunate vandalism, I’ll need this escort for my 2-hour visit to hear all the gossip.
It was so cold I could see white puffs of my breath thinning in the air, it made me glad I had a jacket to keep me
Alonte’ was running to the pool. He jumped in with both feet and moved water with his hands. He looked up at his brother. Then walk out of pool and climbed up ladder with his left foot first then right. He sat the top the slide and watch Jayden go down the little slide first into the pool.
On Sundays, which are my days off from being a helper, I consistently find myself at the quaint Saint Anne’s Church across from the Wellcome on Stanley Village Road. It’s a rather odd place for a church, being adjacent to a police station. Perhaps God saw some irony in two forms of justice adjacent to each other. Saint Anne’s is unassuming– less architecturally eye-catching than the other buildings surrounding it.
The air in the Great Forest was bright and crisp, like any other morning. Sun shone through the oak tree branches in streaks of yellow and gold, as little critters danced through the shadows. The music of the morning doves and thumps of hurring paws surrounded the Great Forest like a blanket. The creatures of the forest relied on that calmness, that symbol of tranquility. The Great Forest was never quiet, never dull.
Ans The practice and ethics of Jainism revolve around a core principle of liberation (moksha) of the soul(Atman) from the Samsara (the continuous cycle of death and rebirth). The quality of one's rebirth is influenced by one's karma. An act of violence, non-ethical behavior etc can lead to bad Karma. Whereas ethical action and ascetic practice can remove the layers of impurities. To attain the liberation of the soul, followers of Jainism practice the five great Vows.
Our coach kicks us out of the bus and made us walk the rest of the way to wake us up a little more and stretch our legs. It did wake us up it was so cold the snow under our feet was frozen and every step we took there was a crunching sound. We made it to the rink doors and all of the bags were sitting there waiting at the door. We picked up our bags and headed to the locker room. Getting into the locker smelling that nice stink of sweat was a similar smell to all of us.
One of the most unique creatures are fish. As I am sitting here in my room, my fish are swimming about with not a care in the world. I wonder what it would feel like to be a fish.
