I get out of bed while the rays of the sun sneak through my blinds in the hotel room, and hop in the shower. The feeling of the warm splash of water on my face wakes me up. It then dawns on me that it’s game day! A time to focus and get prepared for one of the most important games of my career, the quarterfinal game of the MHSAA playoffs. I’ve played hockey for the last 14 years, and it’s been a long wait, but I know there’s no better feeling than playing a high school hockey playoff game. Going down to the lobby about to have a team breakfast, our coach ordered us bagels. The whole team is all around enjoying their breakfast as a team. The coach comes into the lobby and gives a little pep talk. After the pep talk was given it was time to get to the bus. Walking out the door there was a slight chill there was smoke coming from our breath. Going up the stairs of the charter bus looking down the aisle the whole team sitting in their seats listening to music or doing whatever they do before a game. Our coach kicks us out of the bus and made us walk the rest of the way to wake us up a little more and stretch our legs. It did wake us up it was so cold the snow under our feet was frozen and every step we took there was a crunching sound. We made it to the rink doors and all of the bags were sitting there waiting at the door. We picked up our bags and headed to the locker room. Getting into the locker smelling that nice stink of sweat was a similar smell to all of us.
