Waking up to see the ocean is amazing, but it doesn 't really help when you were in the fetal position, sleeping, on a bus. The ocean really did help with how uncomfortable it was to sleep on a bus and the fact that we were at our beautiful destination, St. Malo. The reason I was there was that I was on a European trip. St. Malo is a breathtaking fortress city that is surrounded by the English Channel. There was a large, brick wall going around the city. The buildings inside the wall were beautiful and you could feel the history from them. One of the bad things about staying inside a fortress was, we had to get off the bus and walk to our hotel. This was a short, but rocky trip because the roads were made of bricks and this made our suitcases …show more content…
There was four of us staying in the room: Shelby, Audrey, Dakota, and myself. Our room was huge; it had a little lobby area right when you walked in the room. There was a linen closet filled with extra pillows and blankets, which came in handing because there was four of us staying there. Off this was a huge bathroom with a long vanity, a massive bathtub, and obviously a toilet. The other room off the little area, is the bedroom area which had big, beautiful windows that we could see a little alley out of. Since we only had one full bed and two twin beds, Shelby and I slept together and the other two slept in the twin beds. The room was like a dream! It made you feel like you weren 't really a tourist, but a …show more content…
The four of us headed down for breakfast. I believe we were one of the first ones there but, I’m not quite sure. I got this chocolate cereal and it was one of the best cereals I 've ever had. Apparently no one else liked the cereal but I would love to have it again. I don 't quite remember what we did during the day, but I remember going to the beach and the tide was so far out. It took about five to ten minutes to actually reach the ocean. We took pictures and played a little bit in the ocean. We also went to an art gallery that was right outside our hotel window. The lady was really nice and let us walk around her studio and she was really talented. She probably had at least fifty pieces of art and they were stunning. The pieces were beautiful, colorful and really detailed. Later on in the day, we had free time so we decided to go to the M&S, which is a grocery store. Before this, we walked around the fortress and it was so fun and it was really cool to see it. We learned that back in the day, they use to let dogs out at night after curfew to make sure no one was causing trouble. The interesting thing about this store was that it was underground so we had to go downstairs to get to it. I picked up some chips and something to drink and everyone else go the same thing. The funny thing is, when we were leaving and we were going up the stairs, I tripped and fell and it was so funny. After that we dropped off
Saint Basil Cathedral is a beautiful and huge building and I would love to see. The Cathedral standing high with its detail in beauty is alone neat. Colorful not just with its beauty but has a colorful history as well. This is a place that one day I hope to visit and explore not just in books and on line. This building’s creator was Ivan the forth, also known as “Ivan the Terrible.” The original name is actually Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed. It is also known as Cathedral of the Intercession of the most holy Theotokos on the Moat, by the people of Russia. In English it is known as Pokrovsky Cathedral. It was constructed in 1555-1561 by Ivan the 4th. It was the city’s tallest building until the completion of Ivan the Great Bell Tower
The window was cold to the touch. The glass shimmered as the specks of sunlight danced, and Blake stood, peering out. As God put his head to the window, at once, he felt light shining through his soul. Six years old. Age ceased to define him and time ceased to exist. Silence seeped into every crevice of the room, and slowly, as the awe of the vision engulfed him, he felt the gates slowly open. His thoughts grew fluid, unrestrained, and almost chaotic. An untouched imagination had been liberated, and soon, the world around him transformed into one of magnificence and wonder. His childish naivety cloaked the flaws and turbulence of London, and the imagination became, to Blake, the body of God. The darkness lingering in the corners of London slowly became light. Years passed by, slowly fading into wisps of the past, and the blanket of innocence deteriorated as reality blurred the clarity of childhood.
The previous week they had performed the spell successfully. After contacting Mordred, Merlin and Morgana had arranged to meet him and Aglain, the leader of the druid camp, in the woods near a small waterfall, halfway between Camelot and the grave of Gorlois. Morgana always went on her annual pilgrimage to her father's tomb at this time of the year, at the end of spring.
“Men, for many of you, today is your first day training as a Knight of Camelot,” said Prince Arthur to the group standing before him. “And be grateful you’re not stuck in a torrential downpour as I was on my first day of training here on this very field. The sun is shining and I plan to work you hard.”
There were once three friends Luke, Adam, and Eli. They were running for their lives from alien soldiers. They had only some food, water and a knife each. “Runnnnn they're gaining on us!” yelled Luke who was at the front. After they lost them they stopped to rest. They were in the forest of pyrex. They knew they had to get to hi valley for it was the only safe place in all the world. They were close to the place thought they just had to avoid many soldiers and bullets and then it would be a straight shot to the valley. Eli pointed to a map and said “It might be a few day stretch from here.” “But” interrupted Adam “There are soldiers everywhere that will shoot you on the spot,” luke said “We should go this way through the Spirit forest because, there is no way any soldier would go through it.” even though the voyage would take longer it was the safest way.
The Creature That Opened My Eyes Sympathy, anger, hate, and empathy, these are just a few of the emotions that came over me while getting to know and trying to understand the creature created by victor frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. For the first time I became completely enthralled in a novel and learned to appreciate literature not only for the great stories they tell but also for the affect it could have on someones life as cliché as that might sound, if that weren’t enough it also gave me a greater appreciation and understanding of the idiom “never judge a book by its cover.” As a pimply faced, insecure, loner, and at most times self absorbed sophomore in high school I was never one to put anytime or focus when it came time
Life is an amazing thing just like Jeannette Walls’ in The Glass Castle. Add a sentence about her hardships. People are awesome and we do many great things in life. Some of us go on to making and creating amazing inventions and other gadgets. Some of us go on to doing heroic things with our life. Well all have great and amazing moments but sometimes we have not so great or even tragic events. I 'm not going to say I 've had it the worst like Jeannette, but I 've definitely have a story to tell.
On the Saturday of the 10th our dad woke Ethan, Owen and I up really early. We made sure everything was packed and we drove to our grandma’s house. My dad opened up his car door and the cold air flooded through. Ethan got out of the passenger seat and joined Owen and I in the back. Our grandpa sat in passenger while our dad drove. Owen and our grandma sat in the way back while Ethan and I sat behind our dad and grandpa. We got there a little bit before Lincoln, Logan, Marshall, Aunt Janette, and Uncle Steve. When they got there we did all of the boring security stuff and were on our way to Atlanta, Georgia.
When we arrived at the Best Western, everyone grabbed his/her suitcases, quickly tucking them into the rooms as the candy shop across the street drew us in like moths to a flame. Afterwards, we went back to our rooms, put on our bathing suits, and went for a late-night swim under the stars. It was so cold, but we did not mind it because we were having so much fun. Later we went back to our rooms and went to sleep. Our next day would surely be packed with action and adventure.
I am fascinated with old churches and graveyards, this is why I‘ve reserved a very special place among a small group of other interested parties, to hear the stories that took place in New Orleans past eras, with a visit to the 200 year old, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, once used as a mortuary and surrounded by what some same refer to as the once seedy, jazzy Red Light section of this colorful city, I’m relieved to have found a guide that has authorized entrance into the St. Louis #1because of its age and past incident of unfortunate vandalism, I’ll need this escort for my 2-hour visit to hear all the gossip.
We walked back to the hotel and there was still a whole bunch of people. I looked for a sign or something that said anything about what was going on right now. I saw something up at the front that there was going to be a very important meeting so that we would have to be quiet. We went up to our rooms and we all took a nap.
On Sundays, which are my days off from being a helper, I consistently find myself at the quaint Saint Anne’s Church across from the Wellcome on Stanley Village Road. It’s a rather odd place for a church, being adjacent to a police station. Perhaps God saw some irony in two forms of justice adjacent to each other. Saint Anne’s is unassuming– less architecturally eye-catching than the other buildings surrounding it.
Kristi and I were given the key to our room. OUR room. Thank god our parents had decided to get a third room just for us. Unfortunately, it was in a middle hallway, which meant no windows. But on a boat like this, who needed windows?? We got to the door, Level 3--Room 3053, and our bags were sitting neatly outside the doorway. One swipe of the card key in the door and we threw the bags in. Time to explore the rest of the surroundings.
My dad and sister watched television, my mom crocheted, and I worked on my Kinderbuch for German class. As usual, everyone but me fell asleep. At 10:30, we packed all of our things into the back of the Tahoe and pulled around to he front to return the keys.
It was close to four o’clock in the morning and we were tired. We met up with my dad at the airport and grab us a taxi. As we leave, we drive by a desert that was completely surrounded with sand. Passing through we made it into the city, looking at the flashing lights and buildings that stood tall. It was too early to go out and explore, we needed our rest. As we walk into our hotel, it was like walking into an expensive apartment. With its very own kitchen, washer and dryer, and a patio to top it all
