Marisa pictured her vacation as a peaceful week on the beach with the sun shining and cristal clear water but she never pictured this happening. Marisa and her family had just started their vacation in Florida a few days ago, and they had been enjoying themselves on the beach. While Marisa’s dad and youngest sister built sand castles, Marisa swam in the nice sparkling water that seemed to go on forever. Meanwhile, her mother made sure no one got sunburnt while they were out in the open sun. While building her fifth sand castle Marisa’s little sister’s stomach started to grumble soon after that she started to complain to their mother that she was starving and that she might collapse if she didn’t get something to eat and started to dramatically …show more content…
They also didn’t notice that the farther they had gone the choppier the water got and it started to rock back and forth. Not wanting to fall in Ambria sat down and tried to steady the board, but it was no use and the board started to tip. Both giving out a big yelp Ambria and Marisa fell into the now dark water. Shaking Marisa flipped the board back over and held onto it with her life. Not knowing if something was below her, she tucked her legs to her chest. Ambria managed to get back on the board and tried to get Marisa on to. Yet Marisa was clumsier than ever and wasn’t even close to getting back on. It took all of Ambria’s strength to get her even half way on the board. When Marisa finally got all the way on the board she was exhausted and it took her a while to take in what happened. Still in shock the girls sat board for a while, but soon after Ambria exclaims it was your fault we fell in if you hadn’t made me try and paddle over to those dolphins we wouldn’t of fallen in. Angry now Marisa turns to face Ambria and starts to yell at her soon both are yelling and rocking the board even more than …show more content…
At first Ambria was confused and still angry trying in vain to get Marisa’s hand on her mouth. Then she saw what was going on and stopped in her tracks. As the board steadied once more the girls sighed with relief. Marisa then suggests that she should paddle back to shore because Ambria got to paddle out, to exhausted to argue Ambria agrees and gives the paddle to Marisa. While paddling back to shore Marisa soon figured out that paddling wasn’t as fun as it looked and got tired after a while. Plus, every time she put the paddle into the water she would lose her balance and almost fall back into the water, but knowing that Ambria would make fun of her for being a wimp she kept her mouth closed and tried to paddle as much as she could. As the sun beats down on Marisa and she can feel herself sweat harder and harder, the only thing keeping her going was seeing the shore in sight, and she was determined to get
Lynne had went to many races. When she joined, the team were all trained to swim at the Catalina Channel. The team had to practice at midnight since the race was also at midnight. It was hard for them to adjust to the time, but they eventually did. During the race, Lynne was determined to finish
They watched together as the shore increased its monstrous growing, they became use to it all though. They became used to themselves balancing the boat, preventing them from going
Once she turned and looked toward the shore, toward she people she had left there. She had not gone any great distance – that is, what would have been a great distance for an experienced swimmer. But to her unaccustomed vision the stretch of water behind her assumed the aspect of a barrier which her unaided strength would never be able to overcome.
The smell of the restaurants faded and the new, refreshing aroma of the sea salt in the air took over. The sun’s warmth on my skin and the constant breeze was a familiar feeling that I loved every single time we came to the beach. I remember the first time we came to the beach. I was only nine years old. The white sand amazed me because it looked like a wavy blanket of snow, but was misleading because it was scorching hot. The water shone green like an emerald, it was content. By this I mean that the waves were weak enough to stand through as they rushed over me. There was no sense of fear of being drug out to sea like a shipwrecked sailor. Knowing all this now I knew exactly how to approach the beach. Wear my sandals as long as I could and lay spread out my towel without hesitation. Then I’d jump in the water to coat myself in a moist protective layer before returning to my now slightly less hot towel. In the water it was a completely different world. While trying to avoid the occasional passing jellyfish, it was an experience of

While they are waiting for the next waves to come, Bethany notice something that was slowly closing on her left side. The next thing she knew, she was already bitten by the shark. She did not think she would be able to surf ever again but she still gave it a try. Just when she was about to give up because she fell too many times, she said “a wave rolled through, I caught it, put my hand on the deck to push up and I was standing” (Hamilton 288). Her problems were quickly resolved because all of her doubts were now gone. She had nothing to worry about because she knew she could now continue her surfing career even with one arm.
Even though the girl thought that she would be in trouble for letting the horse out she did not regret it, even though she wasn’t sure why she had done it. After everyone arrived back home they had dinner. Laird was excited and showed off the blood that he had on his arm from the horse. During dinner Laird told everyone how she had let the horse out of the gate. She began crying and her father said, “Never mind, she’s only a girl.” Finally she didn’t protest it and thought that maybe it was true.
...re are fifty boats in our race, and we got third, now that's not too bad for a busted fin." This did not seem to help, however, as there was no apparent response. "I don't know about you all, but after this, it just makes me want to bust by butt during the off-season to come back here in the Spring and kill them all!" Slowly, but surely, everyone's heads raised. I realized that this was not the end at all. We made a pact to work our hardest to come back in the Spring and win out as much as possible. As the commotion settled, Chris quieted us down, "Okay, come on guys." He put his hand in the middle of the circle. We all followed his lead. "We will not let an unfortunate accident get in our way! We will not settle for third place!" With that we all threw our hands up into the air. I looked around and smelled the breeze. Suddenly it was the best feeling in the world.
When I was around the age of eight years old I grew a strange attachment and fascination with the "Rolling Stones" famous red lip logo. I first saw the pair of lips in the window of a local record store which was somehow still open at the the time. Having no knowledge of the band or their music I began replicating the lips on printer paper with my school set of crayons. Because I was unaware of the band to get a reference image I googled "lip logo" which not only provided me with the image I wanted but also several images of clip art lipstick marks. I drew the logo on my notebook, on my desk, and even on a pair of light wash denim jeans I had which my mom made me remove. For easter that year I got a rolling stones tee-shirt which was
We have another one of these, we’re gonna hafta start moving further out to sea earlier in the day,” said the Captain Greaves as he and Henry stepped onto the dock together. “I’ll be here at 5 AM Monday morning, Captain,” Henry said reassuringly. “Aye,” Captain Greaves said as he walked away. The season had been a really bad one for the crew of The Marianna, and Captain Greaves had spoken of selling the fishing boat on more than one occasion.

The lonely empty silence is overpowered by a wall of foam rushing towards me. Wheels of sand are churning beneath my feet. My golden locks are flattened and hunched over my head to form a thick curtain over my eyes. Light ripples are printed against my olive stomach as the sun beams through the oceans unsteadiness. I look below me and can’t see where the sand bank ends; I look above and realize it’s a long way to the top. Don’t panic Kate, you’ll get through this. I try to paddle to the top but am halted by something severely weighing me down- My board. That’s what got me in this mess in the first place. I can see the floral pattern peeping through the sand that is rapidly crawling over it. I quickly rip apart the Velcro of my foot strap and watch my board float to the surface effortlessly as I attempt climbing through the water to reach the surface. The fin of my board becomes more visible to me as I ascend. Finally, an alleviating sensation blasts through my mouth.
The sun is radiant and scorching, as always when it’s August in Michigan, while the lake water is warm with occasional ripples flowing through as the wind subtly blows over. I’ve got my giant pink floaty around my waist with my ridiculously large bug-eyed sunglasses around my face and I’m ready to set myself afloat into the water. As I float on my raft into the warm water I close my eyes while the waves relax me into a soft slumber as I drift into the middle of lake. Without knowing how much time has passed, I awaken to the sound of Alicia’s mom yelling my name and automatically panic,
