“Why did I let you talk me into this?” Lydia, your only friend in the kingdom, linked your arms together, “Don’t be such a pessimist. This could be the best night of your life.” You rolled your eyes, but allowed her to pull you into the ballroom. Royal families conversed while sending their children to dance with eligible princes and princesses. “Alexa, dear, have you met Mr. and Mrs. Hong? They recently moved here from Korea.” A smile found its way onto your face, “It’s a pleasure to meet you. Are you enjoying the ball?” “It is lovely. Joshua, have you and Alexa had a chance to meet?” A blush crept onto his face as everyone’s attention focused on him. The young prince bowed, voice shaking, “Princess.” Your mother pushed you closer to him, …show more content…
“How do you know this so well,” he asked before fumbling over his feet. You chuckled, “I’ve been going to dance lesson ever since I could walk. How do you not know how to dance?” “We didn’t have balls in Korea. Everyone stayed to themselves unless there was a problem in the kingdom.” His eyes seemed to wander when he talked about Korea, like if he imagined a place he would be transported there. “Why did you leave? I don’t know of any sane person who would wind up in …show more content…
You had never trusted someone enough to tell them about how life was for you, but Joshua managed to break down your guarding wall. “How did you do this?” His eyebrows scrunched together, “Do what?” “Make me feel like I’m being listened to for once in my life.” “Maybe,” he took a step toward you, “because I’m listening to you.” You smiled, one so genuine you didn’t think it was possible, “That means more to me than anything in this world, Joshua.” Time seemed to slow as he leaned toward you and pressed a short kissed to your lips, “I think I’ve fallen in love with you.” You came into the house a flustered mess. “Alexa, you look like you’ve run a marathon. “Are you feeling well,” she pressed a petite hand to your forehead. “It’s quite hot out today, so that’s probably the cause,” you mumbled and ran to your room. You flopped onto the bed dramatically, replaying the events of the afternoon in your head. Joshua’s words clung to you like your mother to her fortune. “I didn’t even tell him how I felt.” “Alexa, will you come down for a moment?” The air seemed to grow heavy as you descended the stairs, like someone was slowly sucking it out of the atmosphere. “Is something wrong? Oh, it’s nice to see you Mr. and Mrs.
“Wilson,” I called out, receiving no response. “Wilson?” He stayed slumped in the chair, eyes casted on the ground, refusing to make eye contact or any other sign of acknowledgement. “Wilson!” I yelled, causing him to flinch, his eyes finally meeting mine. There was sadness clear as day in his eyes, but no, he did not deserve to be sad. He did not have any reason. He didn’t love her. He couldn’t provide for her. Not like I could- or would.
Hector and Carmen stood in shock. This had been the first time I had ever stood up to them. Their eyes grew wide and I saw a hot tear roll down Carmen’s cheek. “I’m sorry Carmen, I didn’t mean to-“ “It’s okay
Ariel said. “Thanks.” I said. “How are you feeling, Lan?” I asked.
“Sonia, do you think you’re good to play this game?” asks Coach Cebula, or “Bula” as the girls on the soccer team call him, at the end of the JV game we had just won.
I walked down the hall of Raymond Academy. I walked down until Faith grabbed me by the arm. I spun around and she dragged me into the nearest room. "What is going on?" I asked when she closed the door. "So? Are you going to tell me where this came from." She asked holding an envelope up. " Niro, what is that?" My voice sounded tired and confused.
"It's over, we're safe." Kyle whispered as he took the keys she proffered, then entered the vehicle without a further word. He held no compassion for the young man they'd left dead in the alley, nor for those who'd mourn his passing. The only one who truly deserved empathy was Azairah, and as he pulled out on to the deserted street, and that emotion was evident in his expression. He maintained his grip on the wheel, and foot on the gas as he scanned her face, which faded in and out of shadow under the passing lights. "How do I feel?" He repeated her question, almost inaudibly, and pulled his gaze back to the road, away from the blood-soaked woman beside him. Could he describe it? Just as it appeared he may not respond, the Army veteran took a deep breath, and began to talk. "I feel
Thinking about the booming world, I was drinking my tea peacefully. Early this morning, my husband, Napoleon, left to take care of the country's affairs. Usually, I would be out in the garden breathing in the fresh air and cherishing the beauty of France. However, today I just wanted to stay in my room where it is warm and drink the professionally made tea. Interrupting my thought, there was a knock on the door, and the headmistress came in with a letter in her hand.
“Amarithari,” Laidrian called out, footsteps pounding against the rough floors as he jogged to my side. “Skipping out on sparring for the day?” I glanced over my shoulder, the door to the barracks falling close with a loud thud behind us, before I shrugged. Laidrian rose a brow, sweat clinging to his forehead as he cocked his head to the side. “The elf is coming tomorrow,” I replied briskly.
“You cried again, didn’t you?” He pointed his finger accusingly at her slightly puffed eyes. Hyunae kept silent. “I knew it!” He pumped his fists in victory and turned his attention back to Hyunae. “Why did you cry?”
Jason, Everyone has gathered here today because you and I have chosen to marry each other and they assume that we love one another. I can honestly say they are right, we love one another, but those words do not seem like enough to describe my feelings for you. I believe the love that we share cannot possibly be defined by three simple words, vows or promises that we say or make today. But instead, I believe our love should be defined by the unforgettable moments we have spent by each other’s side, the amazing laughs we share on a daily basis, and the way that we selflessly and authentically care for one another When we first met we fell fast and we fell hard.
I blink away the sleep from my eyes as I hear a light knock on my door. After several seconds, a female servant steps in the room and tells me that breakfast is about to begin. I look out to window to see that the sun has already started to rise, signaling the start of the day. With the servant’s assistance, I carefully dress myself and rebind my feet. The servant, whose feet are unbound, helps me walk to the room where my family will be eating breakfast.
How much of my money do you want? Like I've said... 70%. I've had enough of your never-ending apologies.
My sister had been constructing her wedding day since before she had even shared a civil glance with a boy - and why not occupy your childhood dreaming of snotty-tissues and groomsmen wearing cravates that look as if they were artfully knotted by an elephant? The more I understand about weddings, the less tolerance I have for them. I too spent a great deal of my childhood dreaming of my big day and a beautiful gown in the colour only really flattering on corpses and infants. I even fantasized about the love of my life slumping to one knee and presenting me with a velveteen box containing a pitiable ring, which, after my ecstatic shriek of affirmation, would become the gaudiest item I would ever wear.
There was a simple, ‘To my beautiful girl on her wedding day’, on the front of the envelope that her dad handed to her. Katie took the letter, knowing what it was, and went to a quiet bench to read it. All she ever wanted was to find true love and have the beautiful wedding that she’d always planned, but that’s not complete without her mother. “Dear Katie If you’re reading this, then I’m no longer with you
This year seems to be going by unbelievably fast. So many wonderful memories have been made. I will never forget the day Caroline, a family friend, got married. It was a beautiful spring day in the middle of May.
