Homicide. To a detective it was the worst kind of crime, and not just because it led to tons of paperwork. Homicide’s were often easy to solve because it was so hard to cover up. DNA is everywhere, blood splatters, getting rid of the body, witnesses. There was so many variables and things always tended to go wrong. Nathan Wills hated working homicide’s. His life revolved around dead bodies and murder. Every day there was a new perp and a new victim. Yet another life ruined. He parked the car next to the river bank and mentally prepared himself for what he would find. Stepping out, he was hit with a flurry of activity. Forensics getting DNA, other detectives questioning possible witnesses and the man who found the victim. Camera’s flashing, taking in the crime scene. And of course, the victim. She lay on the edge of the river bank where she was found. Her skin bloated from water and her clothes torn and bloody. She looked so peaceful, as if she hadn’t been stabbed multiple times, quite literally, in the back. “Forensics say they found no DNA on her or the knife found with her,” said Detective Fitz, walking up to Nathan. “Looks like she was stabbed 10 times in back and once in the stomach. I reckon it was a crime of passion”. “Have you ID her yet?” Nathan asked, without taking his eyes off the victim. “Her name’s Tracy Marks, 34 years old. He found him locked away in his apartment. The place was a dump. Beer cans, take away cartons and old magazines littered the floor. There was cigarette butts, old lighters and more beer cans on the table. Adam was passed out on the sofa curled up. Nathan sat him down and explained to him what happened to Tracy.
