In the Story “On the Bridge” there was seth. Seth was with his friend Adam on top of the bridge just hanging out but Adam started smoking a cigarette and then Seth started to smoke one too, it was his first cigarette he had ever smoked. But he did because he wanted to look cool like how adam was doing it. He also was wearing a jean jacket that he had ran through the washing machine to make it look old and tried to make it have a color on it like blood to look like it was worn through a bunch of fights to match with adams leather jacket that had everything that seth was trying to do with his jacket.
In the story Adam and Seth were on the bridge talking about how adam got into a fight in the pizza place with someone and how he’s kicked out of there and how the cops are already out on the look for him because he’s in a lot of trouble. But in the story it seems that seth doesn't want to do anything like that or even be in that position because he knew that his parents would be mad at him for doing those things like Adam like smoking, fighting, and running from the police etc. you could tell that he doesn’t want to do anything like that because he’s always trying to hide his jean jacket from his parents by putting it in the garage before he walks into his house.

Another thing that i saw in the story was that when they were on the bridge talking he was saying how adam was trying to teach seth how to steal cigarettes from the store for themselves but if they get caught he’s supposed to tell the clerk that ifs for his mom which in my opinion would put him in even more trouble because if they call his mom then she will be even more mad at him for trying to take cigarettes and also wearing a jean jacket and trying to bring her into

In the beginning, Seth caught a fairy that turned into an imp and went to Muriel to help her. Seth is really reckless and doesn’t think about what he does. “Kendra gaped at the freakish form of her brother. Most of his hair had fallen out, revealing a lumpy scalp stippled with moles. His face was broader and flatter, with sunken eyes and tusks the size of bananas protruding from his mouth. A misshapen hump
In the novel, The Other Side of the Bridge by Mary Lawson, the author capitalizes upon society’s expectation of a character to emphasize the struggle to achieving his goals. Ian, one of the central characters in the plot line, is heavily impacted by these expectations, which hold a substantial influence upon his decision’s regarding his future. To teenagers an expectation: a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future, is nothing but a restriction upon them. Ian believes he is contained within these expectations; to the point where he does not wish to follow this given path. In a time of adolescence, teenagers are compelled by the strong desire to denounce that which is expected of them; Ian is no exception to this. Societies expectations create a negative influence upon Ian’s struggles to achieve his goals. These effects are due to the following expectations: to leave Struan for a superior education, to obtain the opportunity to become successful; to strive for a medical career, since he excels at the trade already; and to settle into a happy relationship, to raise a family.
Moving on, Lowry uses foreshadowing in the story to show the reader that Jonas is breaking free of his community's "brainwash". This helps apply to the theme man vs. society because it really is Jonas against his community. One example of foreshadowing is when Jonas sees the apple "change" (Lord). He is confused on what is wrong with it so he takes it home, during that time he breaks rules. No matter how much Jonas studied the apple, he could not find the "change" that he saw. This foreshadows Jonas's ability to "see beyond". Also, this shows that Jonas stands out amongst the people of his community because only a select few are able to detect this "change". Also, Lowry ...

...new, could help you do that” (14.84). The style is confusing having short sentences but that’s what makes the story interesting. Your read Clay’s thoughts so, they shouldn’t be perfect. When we think it’s not always logical, so for Jay Asher to explain Clay’s thoughts and what Hannah is saying makes the story all the more interesting.
