“You’re going to be late for school Brian” Shona called from the bottom of the stairs. “God what is it with this boy and his sleep” she mumbled to herself as she walked back to the kitchen. The wallpaper was beginning to peel off and the cupboard doors were uneven, all the mechanical devices had gone rusty and wouldn’t work unless you hit it or something. “This kitchen needs to be changed from head to toe” she groaned while trying to stick the bread in the toast machine, “I know love, but you know how things are at work right now” he said as he lifted his head from the Monday paper. “At the moment? For Christ sake Artemis, things have always been like this at your work, can’t you ask for a pay rise? You work a lot you know.” She suggested. …show more content…
“What did I say?” he turned round to Shona, but she was walking towards the kitchen. “Are you going to ask for a pay raise or not?” was her last sentence. Artemis sighed took his jacket and went out. The pavement was still wet from yesterday’s rain, he hugged his jacket tighter as he walked along the cold grey streets. Shona watched him from the dirty windows, she felt sorry for him, but he was so naive and weak, as if his name was intended to be a paradox. All he did was feel sorry for everyone, care for everyone apart from himself. It had been 12 years since they had met and he was the same naive and weak man from then till today. Just then the kettle started to boil, and she poured the hot water in to the mug to make some tea. After stirring the sugar into the mug, she went to her favourite chair, taking the photo album with her. As she turned the pages of the album one by one, she tried to recount the memories of college. She was the most popular and the prettiest girl in the school. Her lessons were not perfect, but she was the leader of the girls’ volleyball team. Snapping out of her memories for a second, she looked towards the mirror on the other side of the room. Apart from the few extra pounds she had put on, she was still perfect, her long straight legs and her even curves would turn any men around for a second glance. She turned her eyes back to the album and the memories. She was beautiful she knew that and she …show more content…
“Well glad to hear he is devastated about something more normal other than...YOUR WHAT?!” she screamed out load, it had taken her a few seconds to realise what he had said. “YOU’RE OUT OF WORK, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE OUT OF WORK?”
“It means I'm jobless” he said trying to hug her for comfort.
“Wha...what...didn’t that old women of a hag give you any insurance?” she asked.
“I don’t think she even knew what it meant love.” He said trying to laugh at his joke.
“Oh so you think it’s funny do you? You think it’s down right funny? Well, try laughing at this then? We have a huge debt from this house AND from the smashed car, and we have one week left to pay for all that ‘cause if we don’t the house and everything in it is taken, we are almost penniless, and you’ve lost your job! Here try laughing at this” she said pushing him away.
“Okay calm down, you’re becoming hysterical. Look I’ll see what I can do tomorrow yeah”
“Oh that’s really calmed me down, really. I'm going to wake up tomorrow and find out this was all a stupid dream.” She cried out. She quickly ran upstairs and slammed the door behind her. “this man is beyond stupidity, how is he going to find a job in one day, what will we survive on, where are we going to live if this house is taken away, what will happen to Brian?” with these thoughts, it was 3 o’clock at night before she managed to fall
“My name is Sadie Frowne. I work in Allen Street (Manhattan) in what they call a sweatshop. I am new at the work and the foreman scolds me a great deal. I get up at half-past five o’clock every morning and make myself a cup of coffee on the oil stove. I eat a bit of bread and perhaps some fruit and then go to work. Often I get there soon after six o’clock so as to be in good time, though the factory does not open till seven.
I ran to the edge of my door opened it. “Yea, just let me get dressed Dad!’ I yelled back
THE PAST :.. In days gone by, the four species managed to live in perfect harmony. Witches, werewolves and vampires lived in secret, blending in with the humans on a daily basis - and the humans remained completely in the dark about their existence. It was after thousands of years of living this way, whilst everything was completely normal, that a small group of vampires decided that they’d had enough. They spent months devising plans.
The first half of my book “The Cellar” written by Natasha Preston, was so good that I could not put the book down. The girl, at that point, had no memories which include her name and anything before she woke up on a dirty, bloody cabin floor. She looked down at her throbbing hand and found that two of her fingernails were missing.
I could hear the car engines roaring to life, horns honk above me. Tiny footsteps echo throughout the tunnel as I leant up against a brick wall. The tunnel seemed to carry on forever like there was no ending. Yellow dimmed lights lead through the path of the tunnel. I tried to control my breathing which got heavier by the second.
The Creature That Opened My Eyes Sympathy, anger, hate, and empathy, these are just a few of the emotions that came over me while getting to know and trying to understand the creature created by victor frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. For the first time I became completely enthralled in a novel and learned to appreciate literature not only for the great stories they tell but also for the affect it could have on someones life as cliché as that might sound, if that weren’t enough it also gave me a greater appreciation and understanding of the idiom “never judge a book by its cover.” As a pimply faced, insecure, loner, and at most times self absorbed sophomore in high school I was never one to put anytime or focus when it came time
“I’m not getting a full-time job! I ‘m going to keep working on my paintings and pottery. I didn’t want to move back into your house. I had no choice. You just don’t understand what I’ve been through. Why are you giving me such a hard time? I’m a twenty-four-year-old woman. I don’t need you telling me what to do.” Suddenly, the table shook and some of the gravy spilled out of the bowl onto the table. I looked up at my sister, who was now standing. Her eyes welled up with tears.
Life is an amazing thing just like Jeannette Walls’ in The Glass Castle. Add a sentence about her hardships. People are awesome and we do many great things in life. Some of us go on to making and creating amazing inventions and other gadgets. Some of us go on to doing heroic things with our life. Well all have great and amazing moments but sometimes we have not so great or even tragic events. I 'm not going to say I 've had it the worst like Jeannette, but I 've definitely have a story to tell.
"Why don't we sleep on it, baby. We're both emotionally exhausted. I'll call Levine in the morning, set things up?" Richard slipped his arms around his lover, and drew her closer, planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "All I want to do for the rest of the night is hold
He also said, “After a while my mom got home from work then we ate dinner. Like usual my parents went to their room and for some reason my dad came out of his room with his cloths and coat on and left the house, after
she always used to wish for a way to escape her life. She saw memories
“Where can we go?” Jonus yelled to the Shaman, hoping it would take the lead like it always did.
I will always remember the moment my daughter was laid in my arms, there was no greater feeling. I was joyful and full of ecstasy. Fast forward a year later and it hit, like an ocean of bricks, I was depressed. My sweet little girl needed too much from me. She wanted to play, color, run everywhere and cling to me. I felt I could not be the mother she needed me to be. I was with her every second of every day, little to no adult interaction separate of talking to my husband. I needed out and to break free. Everything set me off and nothing could help me. My husband’s thoughts were I just needed to work and get out of the house, have more me time. What I needed was an escape.
In the bright early morning, the sun shone in on the white marble pillars and the stone floor was bleached white with light. In the throne room all the gods had left to do their duties to the mortals. Zeus and Poseidon though remained sitting on golden thrones high up above the ground.
“If you two are going to start making out, I can find another room to have a concussion in,” Connor said after a few moments. “I hate to kill the mood, but I’ve almost been killed today and if no one is kissing me I would rather not see
