The Forgotten Flame
In the bright early morning, the sun shone in on the white marble pillars and the stone floor was bleached white with light. In the throne room all the gods had left to do their duties to the mortals. Zeus and Poseidon though remained sitting on golden thrones high up above the ground.
“Please give me time, ever since the attack, my powers have been weakened” “Poseidon, That attack although nothing to joke about weakened all of us, Hades is more powerful than we thought, but we can’t let it phase us, we must continue work as normal, and you must end the mortals drought immediately.” “But Zeus, I can’t do that, I will do as soon as I can, as soon as I find my trident” “You certainly have powers other than your trident and I expect you to use them” “Please just give me time, my daughters

He gave her one sniff and and padded into Hades chamber.
“Daughter, I’m so sorry, I just thought that it was Demeter again, she tries every day for four months when you mother is down here to see Persephone”
“Father, I’m so glad to see you, Zeus hit the flame with his lightning bolt and freed me”
“Please come with me to my chamber, I have big plans for the future. To destroy Zeus and finally take my place on the throne"
"Father, destroy him? He is your brother, your own flesh and blood"
"And I should be the one on the throne, I should be King of the Gods. I never had my chance on the throne, they never gave me the spotlight. I am down here when they live up there in prosperity. God of the Underworld, what purpose does that leave me, to be among the dead while they control the living?"
"You always told me that Zeus had stolen the throne from you, why would you lie to
As Zeus saw this he was enraged at what Poseidon was doing. So Zeus said “ that if he will not come up to olemps, he will fight him for the city.”
As the high priest’s son he himself wanted to become a good priest but to become one he had to look at the place of gods with his own eyes.

...gedy happened to Medea she cries out to Zeus, “O Zeus and justice Zeus and light of the Sun”, this line is a prayer to Zeus calling out for help(Medea 764). This is showing that the gods are superior from everybody else, and they are called upon when times go wrong.
Numerous lively heroes ventured into Persephone’s clutches with the hopes of beating death, yet she explains that despite their god-like strength they too will die. Two such heroes were Theseus and Pirithous. When Theseus and Pirithous attempted to kidnap the Queen of the Underworld she enticed them to sit in the chair of forgetfulness where their flesh fused to the cushions and refused to relinquish them (Taylor 268). Persephone appears many times to offer food, drink, or rest to weary heroes in the underworld in order to trap them there forever in the same manner that Hades tricked her (Taylor, 268). Because of Persephone and Hades’ antics many people hated them as gods, but Persephone’s cruelty serves as a reminder that while death is necessary it is not always kind. In the same manner that Persephone accepted her fate, mortals must also accept their own imminent
“Men! Do not listen to Eurylochus! Did you not hear what Odysseus warned us against? This is a God we are talking about, the ‘Cattle of the Sun God,’ and we are no match for him. I will not listen to this any longer!
On the other hand, Zeus is a strong, albeit authoritarian leader for both the other gods and mortals. Zeus is required to rule, sometimes absolutely, and when someone under his rule commits an act of treason, he is required to address the issue. When Zeus the leader acts forcefully, the rest of those under his reign will get the message. Prometheus’s act of handing o...
A long time ago, the king of Athens, Cecrops was searching for a god to be the patron of Athens. There were two gods who had shown interest in filling this role, Athena and Poseidon and consequently each was invited to Athens for a competition that would select who was to become the patron of Athens. The competition they would partake in would be one of gifts, each was to bring one wonderful gift to the city of Athens; when the day came, they each came forward with their gifts. Poseidon presented his first, and holding aloft his trident he struck the ground from which sprung a magnificent spring which widened into a lake. Seeing his beautiful gift, the people of Athens grew excited at the allure of this beautiful lake, however, upon touching the water to their lips they were disgusted for the lake was made of salt water and therefore could not be drawn from. Next Athena presented Cecrops with a simple olive tree which she then planted into the ground, exclaiming that it would grow large and bear olives to eat and even for oil to fuel their lamps with. Upon seeing the two gifts the people made their decision, picking Athena as her gift was clearly the superior. In a rage, Poseidon retreated back into the sea, and in a fit of retaliation, he mustered a massive wave which flooded the Thriasian Plain (“Athena and Poseidon's Contest for Athens”). In

'Thetis wept and answered, Then my son, is your end near at hand—for your own death awaits you full soon after that of Hector.
“Okay, yeah. So, I'm kind of maybe sort of the god of the dead. I was experimenting with you expendable, worthless beings, and you have failed the test. Well, there was no winning it. Your time has come. You have become full of yourself. You think you are a god. No, you are not a god. I am a god. And you are a disgrace to your species of disgraces.”
“Haha, you are mine now. You are my slave and you have to do whatever I ask you to do.” Hades explained.
