The creation of the Universe and Ife is about a god name Obatala and how he created the land and human. He came down from the sky, created an actual world with plants, animals, homes and human. After getting drunk he made some humans deformed. He promised to take extra care of them. The human race was almost extinct because of the goddess of the sea.
In my opinion the Supreme Being in the creation myth entitled in the story The Creation of the Universe and Life is this god who goes by the name Olorun. The reason why I would say that is because Olorun was the most powerful of the gods and he was also held the most knowledge.

the sky and water below. The youngest god Obatala saw that it was boring and it needed to be liven up so therefore he began his task of making land and life below. In the creation of thr Universe and Life (Yoruba) there was no diver’s myth.
However, there came a point when dry land needed to be created. This was achieved when Obatala (the youngest god) wanted to create life. Instead of diving down underneath the water to bring dry land to the top Obatala used a sand-filled snail to pour the sand on top of the water and used the hen he had brought down the chain with him to spread the sand making dry land.
There was no destroying of the world and recreating it in this creation myth. However, there is a point in this story when the goddes of the sea, god Olokun, got upset with Obatala because he did not consult with her prior to creating dry land. However, this infuriated the Olokun and she caused a great flood that almost wiped out the entire human race.

After this he realized that he started to dig and made figures that resemble himself out of clay. However, he became thirsty and became drunk by accident and made some that were deformed. He did not destroy them or start over he just vowed to protect his
creation. The only loss of innocence that I could find in this story was due to the fact that when Obatala became thirsty while creating the human race. After drinking too much of the palm wine he became drunk, causing his once perfect humans he was creating to become less and less perfect. This however did not sever their relationship with the Supreme Being or their creator it simply made them deformed. The Caregiver is the first PMAI archetype that I am going to discuss. The caregiver in this creation myth is the god Obatala. The reason why I chose the caregiver to describe the god Obatala is because of what he did for the people that he created. He could have easily destroyed them and started over continuing to have perfect humans. He also vowed to never drink again and will take care of the people that he created with imperfection 1. The second PMAI that I am going talk the ruler, the god Olorun. The reason I chose him is for two reason, his wisdom, and he holds the most power.

Every civilization in the world has its own story of how things are created. Each story reflects how people see and think the world at their time. In this essay, I am going to compare two myths of how man was created – the creation tale of Mohawk Tribe and the Hebrew Bible creation story. There are a lot of similarities as well as differences between these legends. While some differences between the two tales are the development of the stories and the meaning behind the stories, the similarities between them is the concept of creationism.
The symbolic world views of how the world was created can be described through the cosmogonies of Genesis and the Laws of Manu. It is through these theories that one can learn how the universe came into existence. Many individuals consider a certain religion to be their ultimate realm of reality, and it is within religion that these symbolic world views come into play. The cosmogony of Genesis began along a sacred history of time where god created merely by speaking. In contrast, the Laws of Manu involve creation through thought. In Genesis, there is only one god and in Laws of Manu there is more than one god. Both cosmogonies have many similarities as they have many differences, yet both of them are significant in understanding and interpreting the philosophy of religion and its traditions. Although god believes that everything he created is good, I believe that the existence of god is questionable when there is so much evil in the universe.
Hesiod’s Theogony and the Babylonian Enuma Elish are both myths that begin as creation myths, explaining how the universe and, later on, humans came to be. These types of myths exist in every culture and, while the account of creation in Hesiod’s Theogony and the Enuma Elish share many similarities, the two myths differ in many ways as well. Both myths begin creation from where the universe is a formless state, from which the primordial gods emerge. The idea of the earth and sky beginning as one and then being separated is also expressed in both myths.
Myths – as they are known to most of the world – give insight into the pasts of various countries and religions as the people saw them. They have been used to explain phenomena in nature or describe the tales of courageous and important men and women throughout history. Creation myths in particular define how the Earth itself was created, along with the universe, heavens, hell, people, and creatures that exist today. Genesis of Christian mythology, for instance, tells the story of how the single deity God spoke and formed everything from day and night to man and woman. Various African creation myths, such as with the Yoruba, explain the creation of the Earth through at least a couple gods working together and all life sprouting from a seed.
Roman and Greek mythology are filled with multiple interpretations of how the creator, be it the gods or nature, contributed to the birth of the world. These stories draw the backgrounds of the gods and goddesses that govern much of classical mythology. Ovid’s Metamorphoses and Hesiod’s Theogony are two pieces of work that account for how our universe came to be. A comparison of Theogony with Metamorphoses reveals that Hesiod’s creation story portrays the deities as omnipresent, powerful role whose actions triggered the beginning of the universe whereas in Metamorphoses, the deities do not play a significant role; rather the humans are center of the creation. The similarities and differences are evident in the construction of the universe, ages of man, and the creation of men and women on earth.
The creation myths that I have studied are similar in many ways. They also have differences that show an inherently different way of thinking about the world. All have creators-gods that make the world into what is now. There are conflicts within their world, and these conflicts change the face world. God to god or human to god maybe be involved in these conflicts. Their bloody struggles prove who is more powerful, causing change in the control of the world. Some gods are beneficial to man and others are self-serving, using man only as a tool.

That is, many creation myths depict the birth of the cosmic order as an organic, natural, and evolutionary process rather than as an engineering project or the act of a master magician. Ranking one kind of myth as lower or more primitive and our own myths as higher or more cultured derives from a cultural bias. To study myth effectively, we need to free ourselves as much as possible from the prejudices we inherit from our cultural surroundings.
One parallel between Greek and Egyptian creation stories is that they both begin with a God or Gods being created from the universe. The creation of the Greek world began when Eros(cupid) sprang from the great, shapeless mass of chaos and was later followed by Gaea(Earth), Erebus(darkness), and Nox(night). These later deities would become the ancestors of all other Greek Gods and Goddesses.(Footnote pg 56 The Literature and Mythology of Ancient Egypt) Similarly in Egyptian mythology, Ra came into being, and gave life to other Gods, “After I had come into being as the only God, there were three gods aside from me[Shu, Tefnut, and Nun].”(Kaster 56) Eventually, Shu and Tefnut begot Geb and Nut, who in turn created Osiris, Isis, Set, and Nephthys. Creation by universe is a common factor in both Greek and Egyptian creation stories.
This essay will compare and contrast Greek mythology’s The Theogony by Hesiod and the Babylonian creation story found in the Enuma Elish. Both creation myths start off with an empty universe in a formless state. Two chief god entities materialize from this state of nothingness, one represented as a male and the other as a female.
When the modern person ponders the formation of human beings, our mind automatically goes to Adam and Eve, whom were the first man and woman created by God according to the Book of Genesis.
