Throughout the years, crests have represented people and families. Every picture is a symbol that tells something about that person or their heritage. For example, Carmel’s crest has many symbols that portray Carmel’s beliefs and values. I think my crest portrays me very well and some of the things I’m involved in at Carmel. I became a student at Carmel two years ago as a freshman. Throughout those years I have changed and gone through many experiences. As my symbol, I drew a flower. At first, the flower started out as a seed. This represents my freshman year when I was just starting at Carmel and just beginning to make friends and find my way. As a sophomore, I started to branch out more and I was more comfortable at Carmel. I knew more people and was used to the routine of high school. Now, as a junior, I am starting to become more of the person I will be later in life. This year I will start to realize what I want to do with my life and where I want to be. Next year as a senior, my flower will be completely blossomed and I will leave Carmel as a different person than when I ente...
A noticeable symbol in the piece is how the roles are reversed the Aboriginal man being the minority and the European culture being much more prominent in Australia in the 1980s. This shows how time has affected the culture and the journey of the Aboriginal culture has resulted in a loss of tradition and loss of ancestral history. Another noticeable symbol is that the Aboriginal man is in a white suit, this could mean a number of things the assimilation process, the change in culture to fit into modern society or just a wardrobe choice. If the suit does have a purpose it is showing how he has taken on white culture but the picture of an Indigenous man pasted over his own face could represent that even though he has lost his culture he still at heart is tied to his ancestral past. Another is the men and woman in the background on the hill in The Conciliation are now grey statues.
The first and most evident symbol is the faces of the people. Georgiana has the birthmark if the shape of a hand, and the black veil that Hooper wore. I think that Hawthorne chooses to focus on the peoples faces because a person"'"s face is pretty much the center of their being. The face is where a person shows the majority of their emotions, and it holds the brain, which well, is where everything starts at. So, a person"'"s face is very important.
word “art” which may imply something about the materialistic world that she tries to be a part of. Interestingly, and perhaps most symbolic, is the fact that the lily is the “flower of death”, an outcome that her whirlwind, uptight, unrealistic life inevitably led her to.
All of these symbols show how love can occur in many people and in the most random of places. Lily often feels guilty for accidentally killing her mom when she was little, but with Lily and Rosaleen ran away to Tiburon to find a new loving family, the Boatwrights. Lily is able to forgive herself and start a new life that she is able to disregard her past. Lily has finally found a family that cares about her and won’t let anyone hurt her
A symbol is when the author uses an object in the story to represent a greater meaning. The quilt is a symbol of the family heritage that can only be appreciated by certain people. It symbolizes a long line of relatives. As you pick up a quilt and look at it, it has several pieces of cloth that are sowed together. The Grandmother made the quilt by hand, which makes it very special.

The coming of graduation is shown as a proud day, and holds a sunny future for the narrator and her classmates, "My class was wearing butter yellow pique dresses...the lemony cloth...embroidered raised daisies" (835) and "My dress fitted perfectly...everyone said I looked like a sunbeam in it" (837), all these images of warm colors, flowers and butterflies, were scattered throughout the beginning of the work, and contribute to the high spirits and overall happy mood of the day. All of this happiness and sunshine also contributes to the feeling of there is a looming black cloud ahead.

Rather it represented my efforts. Tackling an unideal situation head-on and using the distress it caused me as motivation are the trademarks of a growth mindset. People who have a growth mindset, in comparison to those with a fixed mindset, tend to have a better idea of who they are because they recognize their strengths and weaknesses (Dweck 11). Taking into account of their weaknesses is only part of the picture. Actively seeking to improve upon their faults, is what truly differentiates someone who believes that traits can be cultivated or are already carved in stone. Pushing past my failures produced success. That being said, how did I end freshman year fearlessly taking on new challenges to graduating high school as a content, unimproved writer?
As a reader of the section “A Country Letter”, I interpreted the lamp to represent life, hope, and security.
The East Pennsboro elementary school raised money for a statue at a local park. The statue was a ring of children that were holding hands. There was one child missing; the link was broken. The statue was dedicated to East Pennsboro students that did not make it to their graduation. My sophomore year of high school inspired this piece of artwork.
Good evening parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and friends. I would like to thank you all for coming to this very special day. I know how proud you must be. As we have grown over the years, there are many stages we all have gone through. From learning our shapes and colors, to getting our first kiss in middle school, or how about explaining to our parents why we skipped school because the principal called home. As we remember these days, things that we've done will be with us forever. But this is only the start of our journey. The day has come where we say goodbye to the big yellow buses, assemblies, assigned seating, and attendance policies. Are you really gonna miss it? For some of us maybe not right away. But eventually we will so for us to be here it is not necessarily an achievement, but a privilege. All of us have been in school over half our lives. To graduate is one more step we've taken in our lives.
This is shown in the song Graduation by Vitamin C. Graduation is about the change of leaving high school and moving on to adulthood. It shows the many questions young people have about leaving school, and uncertainty of the future. At the same time, it shows the constant of friendship that people can rely on, when many other things in their life are changing.
It was one of the most exciting and nerve racking days of our lives. Although we were finally leaving high school, the feeling of being unsure didn’t go away. The whole day was full of practicing for the big moment when the entire class graduated on to a new beginning. All the girls wore shiny bright red robes and the guys were dressed in a shiny navy blue. Standing there, I had no idea what to expect. Some things I were aware of, my friends were leaving and we wouldn’t be the same friends anymore. My role was that of being so aware of the future that I was too shocked to soak in the present; being a pessimist was my main goal and everything I was sure of became true.
Graduation: the last day that I would unwillingly set foot on the fields of Horizon High School. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest, and tried so hard to keep my feet moving one after the other in order to maintain my perfect stature. After the two hour wait of opening speeches, class songs, and the calling off of the five hundred plus names that were in front of me, it was finally my turn. As my row stood up and we walked towards the stage it had set in at last, this is it, I am done. My high school career ended on that night, but it didn’t close the book that is my life, it only started a new chapter, and with it came a whole slue of uncertainties.
