Throughout the years, there has been a discussion questioning if college education is really worth the time and cost. Many individuals believe college is too expensive, while others believe it is worth the effort and sacrifice. I agree that college education is worth the effort and sacrifice along with the costs of books, on campus housing, and day to day expenses. “If the goal is to earn a living, then, maybe it isn’t really true that 18 year olds need to be imparted with a sense of panic about getting into college.” I disagree with this statement said by Matthew Crawford, in order to obtain a living you must have an education, a higher education that will allow you to attain a job with a high paying salary. College allows for individuals to study the particular area they would adore to …show more content…
David Leonhardt states that “Education helps people do higher skilled work, get jobs with better paying companies or open their own businesses.” Although college has many time consuming steps to receive your degree, it is all worth the wait. I strongly side with Leonhardt for one reason, by having a college education you have a higher percentage rate of getting a higher paying job than those that have no college education. By possessing a degree from college you are eye candy to many businesses, businesses look and will hire an individual with a college education not only in the view of having a degree in a certain work area, but they are experienced and well informed. Businesses will not want to hire someone with no knowledge of the field of work, even if they understand what they are doing. Businesses look for and go with their natural instinct, the instinct to hire someone that is erudite of what they are doing. If you look at it from the perspective of a local business you will favor to hire someone with the degree
You don’t need a college degree to have a good paying job. Not attending college affects ones literacy of financial awareness, their ability to receive a job, and their ability to carry our responsibilities.
Studies have shown that college graduates on average earn more money in their lifetime than non-college graduates. But college grads who didn’t have scholarships spend years paying off student loan debts. Ronald D. Lankford, an editor and writer for the journal The Rising Cost of College, and Richard Vedder, a writer and economics professor at Ohio University, have written articles on their views of college costs and the reasons they think why it is so steep. Lankford, author of Introduction to the Rising Cost of College, explains why he thinks college costs are so high and how it affects people. Vedder, author of Pell Grants Raise the Cost of College and Cause Education Inequality, cites Pell Grants and financial aid as important factors in the rising cost of college. Although both authors offer strong arguments, I think Vedder presents the stronger argument because he has more credibility, being and economics professor.
College can lead to satisfaction in life that may benefit you in the long run; however, the price to attend an institute of higher learning can be quite expensive. Going to college could be an advantage, helping you to potentially get a job, but it could leave students in debt and without a plan to pay off their student loans once studies are complete. Everyone should have a chance to increase their education; however, higher tuition costs can decimate someone’s possibility of achieving the dream of graduating from an institution of higher learning. The cost of going to college needs to be lower in order to make higher education accessible to everyone, provide greater career opportunities to more people, and lessen the amount of debt students
College education goes about the way to an effective future for people who are not kidding with it. Currently, a college education has turned in the base necessity in securing a job in different companies and although some people might think college is not worth the debt, in a long run it actually is.
...all of the sides to whether college is worth the cost, it is evident that college is in fact worth the cost of tuition. College should be looked at as an investment. A college education will give the graduate more money in the end, than they invested. Even though there are temptations in college, the advantages that college gives their students far surpasses the amount of temptations there are along the way. Most college graduates graduate, and earn a degree by surpassing the temptations college gives, and instead taking in all of the advantages that it is able to offer. Even though college, becomes a redundant seven letter word, that people often get tired of hearing, college is the right step in life, for students after high school. A college education is a valuable investment that everyone should strive to achieve, and is completely worth the expensive cost.
In the mid 1900’s college students were able to pay for their tuition with money they made from their summer jobs (Paul F. Campos). It’s beyond belief that “over the past 35 year’s college tuition as public universities has nearly quadrupled” (Paul F. Campos). This is also becoming a problem to families who now cannot afford to send their children to college. The question that many people across America want to know is why is public college so expensive? College is overly priced because of the need for money for lost state funding, and the many amenities colleges build to attract students to their campus.
College Tuition After high school people decide to go into the workforce or further pursue their education in a specific field. Over the last few years, college enrollment rates have been declining rapidly because some people believe that they are not cut out for the college lifestyle due to their previous high school lifestyle, or because they are unable to afford the cost of a university or even a community college. The cost of tuition is driving potential students from pursuing an education in their career of choice due to lack of money and high tuition prices. People who choose to follow through with an education in their specific field and earn a degree in order to do what they love are falling into massive amounts of debt that can take an entire lifetime to pay off or even scrape the surface of.
Most employers today require some college education. College education can make a difference in the amount of money a person is able to earn. A college degree will allow a person on average to earn more money than a person without any college. Most jobs that do not require a degree will pay minimum wage and usually have lower skill levels.
In this century, a college degree is a necessity to success in almost every occupational field. Without such degree, it is often difficult to find a job. Although this concept pushes more people to earn a secondary education, something else is holding them back. College tuition is one of the major reasons people decide to not attend college. Without the necessary funding for students, many drop out prior to obtaining a degree.
The topic of my thesis is tuition cost. As everyone at Hartwick knows school is not cheap, and it puts a certain amount of press on student. Some would argue saying the pressure is good makes us work harder. While others such as myself would say it put negative pressure on student because they are more worried about money than grades, and students that do work hard will despite the amount they pay in tuition. This leaves me with the questions How does cost of higher education tuition effect the students, and government?
Collage expense Families for years who have problems of their own, now have to face the difficulties of coming up with money that they barely have in order for there child to receive an education. The average cost of college tuition starts at about 18,000 a year. What happens to the student who wants to receive an education but cannot afford it. Colleges are too expensive and cost students to be in too much debt. Educational institutions spend too much time sponsoring needless trips, turning dorm rooms into five sweet hotels, other activities that have little impact on education.
The transition from high school to college, can be one of the most exciting, yet overwhelming time for a student. Every year, when it’s time for seniors to make a decision for college, one factor that is always in the back of their minds, is tuition. Tuition rises every year, and unfortunately it is part of the reason why students alter their college choices; such as going to a community college. Although many may argue that the price for college is worth the investment, the high costs of college puts a lot of stress on students. Students attempt to manage both jobs and schooling, however the result of that appears on their work ethic can negatively impact them.
To find employment, the quality of jobs we get generally goes up according to how much college education we have. There are employment opportunities for individuals with and without a degree. However, with a degree, it is possible to explore more options and create a better future. While there are employment opportunities for those who do not have a college degree, earning a degree it important because it opens the door to gainful employment, allows one to negotiate benefits, and helps one remain employed.
Today students are expected to follow the path of elementary school, middle school and college. We are raised to believe that one needs higher education in order to succeed in life. College education is no longer an option, but has become necessity. But being able to go to college has become like a dream for some students because of the rising costs. College costs are getting so high that it is hurting students education, students are coming out of college and are unable to attend university of their choice.
Did you know that majority of the time having a college education on a job application gives you a better chance at getting the job that you’ve been wanting? You might be thinking that it is still possible for you to get that dream job you’ve been waiting for without a college degree, well I disagree. I know that a college education will be very necessary in today’s society to be successful in your career, so with that being said college is worth the cost of tuition.
