“Rotten Apple “theory compare to the “rotten Barrel Theory” Corruption can be defined as the abuse of authority for one’s own personal gain. Additionally, corruption or police misconduct can include any policy violation such as physical abuse of detainees, perjury, racial profiling and sexual misconduct. According to the rotten apple theory, corruption is the work of a few, dishonest, immoral police officers or it can be one officer that is corrupt with bad charteristics. However, in a survey conducted by Transparency International indicated that in the twenty three countries studied, citizens concluded that “police are not a source of help and security, but rather of harm, risk, and impoverishment”

According to the Internal Perspective on Policing, police work may actually breed misconduct or at a minimum tolerate police misbehavior. The rotten apple theory the idea that the bad apple spoils the bunch. An individual can be called a rotten apple for being a bad individual among a good group. Basically it means that police officers become a product of their environment. They are surrounded by corruption daily, therefore they become corrupt themselves. They agency itself accepts this type of negative behavior they actually encourage it. When the public brings the misconduct to the supervisor or agencies attention nothing is done about it. This gives the officer the abuse of power mindset where the misconduct continues to escalate. Example: According to the Associate press, Bob Menendez has been charges with using his office to improperly befit a Florida eye doctor. Federal jury indicted the New Jersey Democrat on charges for conspiracy to commit bribery and wire fraud. These charges on corruption demonstrated, the state of the broken political system. His family and employees of the eye clinic made more than $1 million in federal political contributions since 1993.Most went to outsides groups, and some were given to campaigns, which all were democratic.
My views on legalize marijuana, is it should be legalized and implemented in Law enforcement policy ,the reason being ,due to my research law enforcement made more arrests for illegal drugs than any other crime. Also it should be legalized because there are so many benefit according to research that can benefit an individual that is ill. However
