College Athletes Should Be Paid
College athletes are not paid, yet they generate a great deal of money for the school, which is unfair. College athletes have to spend less time on their school work. Schools take advantage of them to make money. Colleges don’t care what the athlete does outside of sports. Many of them earn meaningless degrees because most of their time is spent on sports instead of school. The time spent on sports is more than the time spent on their school work. Playing sports in college is like a full time job. They spend a huge amount of their time training: lifting weights and watching their diets. It is unfair that college athletes are not getting paid because they spend most of their time on sports, they risk injury, and they have high dropout rates due to frustration.
College athletes spend more time on sports than on class work. Some miss a lot of classes and end up failing, but the coaches never tell them to stay focus in class because they care about the games the athletes have to attend. Most student athletes are enrolled in colleges not because of the strength of their brains, but because of their physical strength. Most colleges are famous because they recruit and produce world class athletes. Football, basketball, track and field athletes who have made it through the rough terrain of becoming professionals go back to these colleges to support or even sponsor the athletic department. They learn to give back what the college fails to give them. Most colleges have now commercialized their sporting faculty. Colleges are more concerned with making money than with the welfare of the athletes.
Some people may argue that colleges spend millions if not billions of dollars on college athletes. However, one may ...

... these athletes and start rewarding them because if they start paying them, the school would have more people playing sports with degrees and this would give the school a good reputation.
Everyone deserves pay for any job and college athletes are no exception. Not paying them or taking care of them properly certainly surmounts to abuse and misuse. Moreover, when the athletes face wear and tear, their privileges are taken away and they are left to fend for themselves for the rest of their lives; it can be very devastating for these athletes. The athletes should be compensated for the hard work they do. Life is about give and take. So the competition should be higher, for if they are paid for what they are doing, they would be greatly motivated in their work. Therefore, I strongly admonish that they should get paid for all the time and effort they spend on sports.
