As the world moves into an age full of technological nuisances and disconnected relationships, it seems no one could risk the possibility of being considered “uncool”. Whether spending hundreds of dollars on the newest piece of technology that alleviates loneliness or attempting something new in hopes for a temporary escape, it seems nothing will suffice the hunger of universal acceptance. Though most rational people would consider the above examples ridiculous and worthless, rationality no longer finds a home in the 21st century. Most children are raised in an environment that excludes level-headed parenting as financial stability has become the most important concern. These abandoned children are left to their own vices, trying to fend for themselves without a care for danger or the hope for a brighter tomorrow. Mediocre celebrities become their families and recklessness becomes their solace in midst of such loneliness. These young children absorb such carelessness and begin to associate the hazardous acts with the promise of fortune and acceptance, as introduced by the social learning theory.
The idea of the social learning theory has been a recent finding, defying traditional and widely accepted beliefs among society. Social learning explores the idea that humans do not simply mimic what they see, despite the popular belief that humans act upon subconscious or conscious desire. It is understood that humans do not simply act on whim, but act in certain ways to gain attention, recognition, or praise for their actions, showing the resolve and ambitious nature of humans.
