The Web-Based Revolution:
The Innovation of Internet Business Solution
Introduction
Ever since internet connection was widely provided to consumers, internet business has grown rapidly and its development also made marketing easily accessible. As a result, countless types of businesses opened on the web and countless numbers of people have been using internet services every day. Meanwhile, not every customer is satisfied with every internet service. Have you had the experience of locating wrong information while you were using search engines like Yahoo' or Google' to look for something? Have you had difficulties separating good information from bad because you had too much result? Maybe Yes'. As a matter of fact, not all internet businesses accomplish their own goal- "to provide consumers with the best service and to maximize a profit". Some businesses made a lot of profit and others failed in a few years with a big loss even though they invested huge amounts of money. Are there any specific reasons why some companies are successful and others not? Why do many big corporations keep failing in internet business even though they have a lot of experience in other than internet business? Although it might appear that the success of an internet business depends on a particular kind of service which a company provides, the real strategy of earning popularity in on-line business actually depends on how well the company manages its web site content to provide the most effective ways to give consumers satisfaction.
Body
To make a web site stable, a web service company can not emphasize too much the importance of managing content. We already know that most internet web sites consist of various kinds of, great amount of content such as photos, documents, data, motion pictures, etc.
The growth of online business has grown enormously over the years. Cliptomania is a family operated and owned small e-business that primarily sells clip on earrings (Brown, DeHayes, Hoffer, Martin, & Perkins, 2012, p. 308). Cliptomania early developments were very modest, and as such the company experienced copious strategic dilemmas. An initial strategic dilemma that the company encountered when establishing and building their new e-business undertaking was to create a website for the business operations and essentially to have it fully operable. The owners, Jim and Candy elected to hire a vendor to host the website and additionally utilize the IT systems resources of the vendor to sustain their business. At the very beginning they exploited the offerings of the Yahoo Store. However, continuing down this avenue of using the services of the Yahoo Store inevitably became too costly. By using the services and business offerings of a vendor made it convenient and effortless for Jim and Candy to start their e-business store. Unfortunately the couple did not have much in the way of professional help, and so they had to create and put together the website by themselves. Additionally they also had to deal with establishing their online credibility as many customers preferred to call in their orders just to talk with a real person before being comfortable enough to place their orders via the webpage.
Nowadays, the popularities of the internet do change people’s life and even influence the strategy of a company. The article “Strategy and the Internet” authored by Michael Porter presents a few constructive opinions towards companies using the Internet for business that tells company should not lose the focus on building strategic development and competitive advantage. In the article, Michael Porter demonstrated that “the Internet is an extremely important technology, but it has made it difficult for companies to remain profitable over an extended time period”. (Porter, 2001) And internet leads many businesses “distort their market signals and competitive advantage”. (Porter, 2001) It is obvious that company tend to different from other which only focus on price strategies rather than through traditional methods of differentiation. (Porter, 2001) Throughout this article, Porter mainly aim to demonstrated that the Internet will weaken company’s profitability without providing proper operational advantages, because the proper use of internet will add value and increase company’s traditional competitive advantage, but it is unlikely for company to replace it. (Porter, 2001)
We live in a time that customers go on the Internet to find what they need. The Internet is controlling the world now. How can you appear on the Internet as a business? A business website is the best and only option to appear on the Internet today. Well, it should be a unique website that will attract customers and search engines.
That so many e-commerce business startups fail (80% or more) should not come as a surprise since most business startups fail regardless of their type. However, e-commerce business failures happen because of reasons specific to the online world in addition to fundamental business oversights. The online business landscape has matured since the wild west days of the late 1990s and early 2000s. A great idea and a website with some traffic may have worked back then, but probably isn 't enough for success in today 's competitive online landscape. Here are five reasons why so many e-commerce businesses fail today:
Work and business relay strongly on the usage of internet. Sending and receiving mails, shopping online and advertising have change the way of business. In “Why the Internet is Important in Business,” Chris Blank (n.d) argues that every big and small businesses know the significance of creating a website and social media pages for the company. According to Blank (n.d) having a social media page or a website will increase the publicity of the business. For example, Old Spice is an old company and it needed to boost its sales; to do that they made crazy and funny advertising and posted them in YouTube and Twitter. After 7 month the company sales increased by 107 percent. Company sales increased tragically because YouTube is the wide media website and YouTubers like crazy and funny videos; with this, the view counts reached millions views per video, which led to increase the sales of Old Spice products. Relaying on the internet is now a major factor for a success of a company.
Today, content management system is at the center of the internet and controls almost all web site creation processes. Present internet experts and web creating experts depend on content management system to “lower the barriers to entry and make it easier to launch a site, keep it updated and get more out of it” (Miller, 2012). This means that content management system is being used to do away with impediments that made the accessibility to websites more difficult in times past. It is also being used to make the ownership and maintenance of websites more free flowing and...
I have also been tasked with managing and updating websites on a regular basis which demonstrates I am able to utilise content managing systems such as Wordpress for example.
The Internet is responsible for millions of new jobs, helping the economy. Many small businesses and corporations excelled because of the Internet. “Individual online users can daily market themselves globally through custom-designed personal web sites and blogs.”(Schell). Online advertising became a way for businesses to advertise their company to anyone in the world. “The advertising industry estimated that the average Internet user in 2002 saw 950 banner ads per day.”(Hollis). With the Internet, businesses advanced and developed into more Internet dependent companies. “The most important source of media income comes from advertising.”(Hollis) Internet advertising helps the economy and developed a new source of advertising. Frederick Moran’s job relied on the Internet. As a business analysis, he analyzes and fixes computer programs for people who trade commodities. “Companies now need fewer clerical and manufacturing workers and more employees with engineering, programming, and business backgrounds to design, develop, and manage the increasingly complex systems.”(Marshall) Fr...

Web sites have progressed to a new level of sophistication. They have the ability to track and store usage patterns and allow use of this information in the development of advertisements and focus for both the Web page and their connected database (Mendelson, 98). There has been a development of dynamic Web sites because static Web pages were becoming, in a way, an older style. New trends in Web design require more interactive and exciting ways to interest the user in the Web page. Web sites must also be able to provide companies with the most up-to-date information or data that is graphically appealing, yet will not leave any uncertainty or vague impressions on the consumers part.
At the very start, internet revolution was known as a world wide web that would change everything. In 1990s, the concept of "online business" was created, this business is known by various names such as dot-coms, e-biz etc. which made easier to start a business on internet and inexpensive as well. Whether it's a big or a small, local or international it can reach infront of the world very easily. Thousands of ventures have been made on internet for online business on the basis of brick and mortar. Online business is not different from any other venture. Same rules and principles are applied. First thing to start up a business is to create a business plan and think of how to make money. Some of the options which should be applied for an online business includes, sell products, sell advertising, sell information, sell services and to become a reseller. All of these options are complied together. For any virtual business an individual should always look for products with high margins, high demand and less competition either for physical or digital manner. However, many services are sold on internet such as web hosting, domain name registration, software applications and comparison of different products and services. Selling information is another basic option in an online business which is done in two forms, one is subscribing on a website where online articles are available for free and on the other hand e-books are popular and are free, they can be downloaded easily plus when the writing is done the cost of subscription is very low. Advertising on internet leads toward a lot of money though it's an expensive procedure, with a lot of traffic on a web site one can make money easily by joining any kind of ad network such as Google. By getting affiliated with another web site can also make a lot of money such as sending a buyer on another merchant's web page, like this one can get a percentage on per sale basis but first an individual needs to get expert in marketing for search engines.
